Former New York Giants linebacker and NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor is considered to be one of the greatest football players of all time. He was selected to 10 Pro Bowls in 13 seasons, is a nine-time All-Pro selection and recorded a ridiculous 132.5 sacks over his career. All of those things are facts. He is probably the greatest Giant in the organization's history. But don't tell Stephen A. Smith that, he doesn't agree. Thursday, on ESPN's First Take, Smith said that LT was one-dimensional, stating that the only thing he is known for is getting to the quarterback. Besides being utterly ridiculous, Smith's comments prompted former NFL defensive end Marcus Spears to walk off the set. Spears spent eight of his nine seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, but even he knows talent when he sees it. His ability to get to the quarterback isn't because he's one-dimensional, it's because he ISN'T one-dimensional. He knows how to read the line, the quarterback, the specialty players and figure out exactly where the play is going. If he wasn't sacking the quarterback, he was intercepting the ball. He had nine interceptions for 134 yards and two touchdowns over his career. Stephen A. Smith can say that LT was one-dimensional all he wants, but that doesn't make it true. True fans of the game will understand why Spears reacted the way he did and agree that Smith would have been better off inserting his foot into his mouth before saying that. www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/stephen-a-smith-calls-lawrence-taylor-one-dimensional/ar-AAGeE99

Arguably the best player that has ever played the game was one dimensional? The level of stupidity in this comment is something I don’t even want to touch. I’m afraid I’ll catch something just by commenting on it.

All he looking for is ratings. He is irreverent. He was probably, doing coke (cola ) with LT.

For the category for the most ridiculous thing ever said by sports commentator about football Chris Carter “I just can’t go on without saying this: If Dwayne Haskins, as an African-American, goes to Duke and puts up those mediocre stats – seventh in the conference. He’s not drafted Day 1 or damn Day 2,”
Colin Cowherd "Teams quit if down by 10 points at halftime"
Skip Bayless " Tim Tebow is the next Brett Favre"
Steven A Smith "LT was one dimensional"
And the ETHA. (ESPN Talking Head Award ) goes to Steve A Smith "Lawrence Taylor was one dimensional "

Stephen A. is an Ass. He wants exposure and a headline, they need controversy to get viewers. Good for Marcus Spears I have respect for him. He wasn't going to let his integrity be subject to an asinine statement and him sitting there like a bump on a log.
I haven't watched ESPN in almost 2 years cause I was tired of getting someone's political opinion instead of sport talk. Watched Mike and Mike every morning for years. I can't stand that channel.
Thanks for letting us know about this idiot statement.

In all fairness, Stephen A. did learn from the master, Skip Bayless.
First Take is a good example of the daytime soap that's infiltrating into sports as a national product. It's why they now include politics.

I seriously don't know why people continue to fall for the hot take sports media. Don't even waste your time or a single thought on this. He clearly doesn't know shit about football.

I like Stephen A. I really do. And he was CORRECT. LT was one dimensional. GREAT, that's all he ever was.

LT was one of the greatest run stuffers there were. He chased down plays on the opposite side of the field on a regular basis.
How many dimension does Smith think there are to playing defense?

The left tackle position is paid the most on the OL due to LT. I'm sure that SAS did not sit down with a handful of players that played against LT & that they told him LT was "one dimensional" I'm pretty sure that Ron "Jaws" Jaworski, Joe "broken leg" Theisman , Danny "broken hand" White can tell you what they think of LT & I doubt the word "one dimensional" would ever come outta their mouths. I remember an interview with then GB QB Lynn Dickey, he stated that they 1st started out blocking him with just a tackle, then a guard & tackle, then added a RB, he got by them all. I betcha Bill Belichick doesn't think LT was "one dimensional". Ask RBs of the 80s, early 90s if they thought LT was "one dimensional"? Did SAS ask the OLmen who had to go against him if he was "one dimensional"? LT used to draw multiple offsides per game cuz linemen were so scared of him & were scared to get beat. It also revealed that the play was gonna be a pass play. So now after the 5yd offsides flag, to make it 3rd & way long, the QB was quaking in his cleats cuz he knew that LT was coming even harder!

He started a weeks long conversation about the Giants being racist. That's way worse than SAS sounding like an idiot.

Keep in mind that Smith is an entertainer who looks to say controversial stuff just to stir the pot. He can't possibly believe that.
