Good start with 2 wins. Anyone see one of their new star players being introduced on opening night at MSG? Smoke & Lights with music playing he skates out and trips over a wire and falls, lol
Also i was wondering about the gap in their schedule. They started out with 2 games in 3 nights. But last game was on Saturday the 5th. Next game is not till next Saturday the 12th. So a 7 day gap with no games. Then the next game is 5days later the 17th
Checked a few other teams and didn't see that wide of a gap. 2 games in 12 days?
After that the schedule looks more normal

Just for the record Zibanejad is on pace 328 points this season. The Buch, Zibanejad Panarin line is ridiculous. Defense not that good and 3rd and 4th lines are meh. They have a real shot at the playoffs if Hank and Georgiev play the way they did in the first 2 games. That line may actually be the best in Hockey.

On our way to 82 - 0!!! Seriously though, it's nice to get off to a quick start, never hurts. My expectations for the team are pretty muted. I'm looking to see the young guys develop, and some improvement in our defense, which has been pretty weak the last few years.

Anyone have any idea why they have a week off from last game on the 5th? And then another 5 day gap between the next game?

I think it’s actually a good deal for a young team that probably needs the practice. They will still get their bye week during the season. At some point they will obviously be playing lots of back to backs and have a full schedule.

No they will still get a bye week. It’s a schedule quirk. Stupid because it kills any momentum they had They are so young the extra week of practice is actually a good thing. I think the league hooked them up. It’s important for the marquee teams to be relevant for the NHL business. The league won’t rig anything, but you can guarantee they would like to see the Rangers in the playoffs. Teams like Rangers, Canadians and Bruins missing the playoffs is bad for business. NHL was probably ecstatic that Boston beat Carolina in the ECF last year. St Louis vs Carolina was probably their worst nightmare.

Or they will come out and look stale against a very beatable hockey team. They generated no offense. That was damn near an afternoon off for the Edmonton goalie.

Rough few games off the long break. Really wish they had played Hank vs. NJ.

Lots of growing pains for such a young team(NHL youngest if I am not mistaken) but you can see the potential when they play the right way. Last night great after the disappearing act against the Sens. Sure they don’t have a flashy 10 game winning streak, but they have a very high future ceiling. I hope that K’andre Miller decides to make the jump when his college season is over. It would be nice to get a little taste of what he can do this season if possible. I also think at some point you have to get Shorkstin some starts against NHL opposition to see how he does. Stonewalling the IHL so far.

When someone figures this team out let me know. If you didn’t give up on them tonight you got a treat.

Every game I watch I am grateful Panarin chose us. What a player! Additionally if he had chosen the Isles they might be top dog in the East. Also grateful that didn’t happen.

Wont lie, I've watched a few games here and there, but now since the football season is over and the Knicks are painfully bad as usual my attention will focus to NYR.
How much longer do you guys think Henrik will be our starter, seems like Georgiev is coming into his own and Ive heard Igor Sheskertin has been doing excellent in Hartford

How much longer do you guys think Henrik will be our starter, seems like Georgiev is coming into his own and Ive heard Igor Sheskertin has been doing excellent in Hartford Henrik is no longer the de facto starter. He will play generally well but has a penchant for soft goals and getting out of position. Georgiev is stellar, played a hell of a game against Toronto Saturday night. Don’t let the 4 goals fool you. Sherkstein in the wings may be the best of them all. Henrik would be a great trade piece but has the full no movement clause. The rest of the team is extremely young(youngest in the league) and ripe with talent. Bottom line is that we have enough offensive and goaltending talent to be a playoff team now, but we don’t play with enough commitment to tough hockey and defense on a nightly basis. There are games where we don’t seem to win a single loose puck battle all night. Outside of the Giants, the Rangers are my favorite team to watch. I would be thrilled if we made the playoffs this year and kept Kreider. My bet is neither of those things happen. However, I believe we are on the way to seeing something special from this team. Kind of the Giants polar opposite.

Panarin may be the best athlete in NY right now. I just got home from the game, my first live Rangers game in many years. He has amazing skills. Puck handling, passing, body position, he's a marvel to watch. What a blast too, they put on a great show at the Garden.

Islanders will be all business. We need a point at a minimum. The last time we had a similar scenario we walked into Tampa and got murdered. I bet it was a blast!!

This season, a game like tonight is one this team does not win. Too inconsistent. Hopefully that trend changes.

And as I mentioned on the Islanders thread that embellishment call was pure horseshit. Great win. Another Tuesday would be great, but a point at leading would be excellent.
