Who should we take? Passing on Darnold and handing him to the Jets will be the modern Football version of the Sox giving the Yankees Babe Ruth.
Webb doesn’t belong on a pro field. Nor does Ereck Flowers or whoever we play at RG.

When you've done all of that, we'll decide who we should draft in 2019 so we can answer this totally unanswerable question.

Let's see how Webb progresses in pre-season before tossing him aside. I think he has earned the right to compete especially how well he handled last year's situation and coming into this season working to earn a spot competing against Lauletta. To your point then, too early to tell at college level and who knows what QBs are going to be available FA etc. Flowers all he has to do is be average (sounds crazy) but you have not heard much on him lately (a good thing) and from what I have seen/heard he may be making some improvement. I need to see his performance be consistent then I will be okay with him again. Rebuilding is not easy to do takes time, solid drafting and FAs that can fill in and improve the team.

Either Webb or Lauletta will be our QB going forward after Eli. Probably starting in 2020.
2019 draft we'll go for DBs, an Offensive tackle, and LBs. Not necessarily in that order.
Starting this year, we'll be in the playoff hunt every year for the foreseeable future, with many playoff appearances.
The good times are back for the NY 🏈 Giants.
The Giants have a pretty solid roster already, with A-list talent at several positions. (Engram, Barkley, Beckham eg).
One thing that could complicate matters, though, would be if Bettcher gets a HC job with another team.
Of course not having a good QB would be disastrous, but I'm optimistic that with Webb and Lauletta, working with Shurmur, we will be alright here.
We are right now witnessing the start of a decade of great NYG football.
I know I'm talking with great assurance here, about things which are still uncertain, and over which I have no control, and that some may find this irrational and/or annoying. Sincere apologies if this is the case.
I find that believing in positive outcomes is the best way to live.

Who gives a crap about Webb ? He's a BACKUP ! We carried Nassib for 4 years. "we" didn't do anything. I for one had nothing to do with nassib. Nor did you. so don't sweat it. give yourself permission to let it go. 2. nassib has exactly zero to do with webb, or anything else about the current NYG football team. the past does not = the future You have permission to change the old associations your brain is latched onto if they no longer serve you. emotional baggage about nassib and frustration about the webb draft pick, is not serving your best interest. let it go brother. you don't need that 3. yes webb is a back up QB. 4. Why would it matter who does or does not "give a crap" about webb? do you really care who gives a crap about webb? hope that helps

Comparing Darnold to the Babe has got to be the funniest thing I’ve read so far on the Roseyboard.

That was the only similarity I brought up.
Your little rant apparently helped you. Don't know what it did for anybody else.

I don;t know. Let's see what the team lookalike at the end of the year. Based on what I'm seeing this team needs a lot. Boston Red Sox fans... 1920 - “Well, let’s just see how Babe Ruth turns out before we start saying that this was a bad move.” 1927 - “D’oh!”

Because I found the Babe Ruth comparison as meaningless as it was ridiculous, I didn’t consider it in my reply at all. I will certainly admit my miscalculation should Darnold turn out to be the Babe Ruth of football.

in the 2018 draft there was a record number of juniors who declared eligible and got drafted.
so 2019 will be devoid of some players that normally would be in the draft class or whatever.
It could be the 2019 class has less talent available than usual, or at least less than 2018, unless that trend continues. Just a little tid bit i found interesting.

He just needs to be "the Bucky Dent of football".

Walter Football's ranking of the top 5 QBs likely to enter the 2019 draft... 1. Justin Herbert 2. Jarrett Stidham 3. Drew Lock 4. Shea Patterson 5. Will Grier Only Herbert is classified as a sure 1st-rounder. Patterson and Grier are classified as possible 3rd-rounders. Not exactly awe-inspiring.

Webb doesn’t belong on a pro field. Nor does Ereck Flowers or whoever we play at RG. One of the funnier things I've read in a long time. I disagree with nearly everything you said here, but if you're looking for a QB in next years draft, keep an eye on Ryan Finley from NC State. Very smart, doesn't make a lot of mistakes, good enough arm, good enough athlete, can make progressions, etc. I'm a Wolfpack fan, so I've watched him develop, and he's pretty good. He won't blow you away physically, but he gets the job done and is already starting to get some hype. I'm actually curious to see how he plays with a bit of a spotlight on him. theunderdogsports.com/nfl-draft-profile-ryan-finley/

I'm expecting it could be a thin draft class, not just at QB.

Perhaps, but Finley is doing it against top notch competition. He's done very well against Clemson's defense.

sports.yahoo.com/25-college-football-qbs-id-pay-see-2018-045110335.htmlAs far as college Qbs go, patterson, fromm and tua are the guys i have my eye on, personally. maybe herbert and tate also. i find them the most intriguing and exciting to watch at the moment, personally. It is of course way, way too early though. Surely the ones that are the cream will emerge, eventually. Most of those guys are very young I thin so I just don't think the best Qbs are the guys that are in the 2019 draft though. 2020 perhaps

Fact of the matter is, after this year I don't see anyone wanting us to draft a QB in next years draft. Now that we have a competent coach, and an improved running game and OL, Eli will return to what he's always been. An above average QB.
