guy's a member of team "Scott Boras", his agent, who's coaching him what to say. of course he wants to make it appear he's open to all offers in an effort to bid up his price

Hopefully he won't opt out because I don't think they'll resign if he does indeed opt out..

Going to miss Sir Didi
Yanks declined his QO of $17m making him a FA.
JD Martinez opts in to stay with Red Sox, which may make Mookie Betts available via trade.

@yankeeswfan Yankees did not make a Qualifying Offer to Didi Gregorius. No draft pick compensation attached. Yanks can still re-sign him, but lesser deal than he could have had with a healthy season and perhaps even a one-year deal to try to cash in again next winter

Unless Danny Cater is still available of course.

And his drop off in offensive production. No surprise at all

CC Sabathia is all over Yankees’ pursuit of Gerrit Cole CC Sabathia is making one last Yankees pitch — to get Gerrit Cole in pinstripes, that is. The recently retired Yankees hurler said he has spoken “many times” with the most coveted free agent in this winter’s class, and that “if you give that motherf–ker enough money, he’s going to want to come here. “I am speaking from experience,” Sabathia said on an episode of his “R2C2 is UNINTERRUPTED” podcast, which dropped Tuesday. nypost.com/2019/11/05/cc-sabathia-is-all-over-yankees-pursuit-of-gerrit-cole/

Is CC selling Cole on playing in NY? Sabathia: I've talked to Cole 'at length' about playing in NY Nov. 6: Eleven years ago, the Yankees made one of the most successful free-agent signings in franchise history, bringing in CC Sabathia on a seven-year, $161 million contract. At the time, the big lefty, a California native, was unsure if he wanted to play in New York, but the Yanks significantly outbid the Angels and everyone else for his services. The recently retired Sabathia thinks the Yankees could do the same with Cole this offseason, even if he has his own reservations about the Big Apple. It has been widely assumed that Cole, another California native, wants to play on the West Coast, though he quashed that speculation the day after the World Series ended. "I never said that," the right-hander told the Houston Chronicle. Even if Cole does privately have his heart set on a West Coast team, Sabathia thinks the Yankees could sway him with the right offer. He also revealed that the two have spoken on multiple occasions about Sabathia's experience in New York. “Me and Gerrit Cole have spoken at length many times about me pitching as a Yankee as a West Coast Guy,” Sabathia said in a preview clip for the "R2C2 is UNINTERRUPTED" podcast. “This is crazy, this is shaping out … like the same offseason I had. "If you give [him] enough money, he’s going to want to come here. I am speaking from experience." While that may be so, it remains to be seen if the Yankees will go all out to sign Cole. While the team has continued to spend big in recent years, it has shied away from the win-at-all-cost moves that defined the late George Steinbrenner's tenure as owner. Additionally, the Competitive Balance Tax could be a factor in how much New York spends this offseason. www.mlb.com/news/gerrit-cole-rumors

Electronic strike zone coming to Minor League Baseball in 2020, report says “Here’s our thinking on the automated strike zone: The technology exists. We have the technology,” Manfred said on MLB Network. “We’re actually going through a big upgrade of that piece of our technology during this offseason. I think we need to be ready to use an automated strike zone when the time is right. That’s why we experimented in the Atlantic League. It’s why we went to the Arizona Fall League. It’s why we’re using it in Minor League Baseball next year, in some ballparks at least. “I think it’s incumbent upon us to see if we can get the system to the point we’re comfortable it can work. I only would go to an automated strike zone when we were sure that it was absolutely the best it can be. Getting out there too early with it and not having it work well, that’d be a big mistake.” www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/news/electronic-strike-zone-coming-to-minor-league-baseball-in-2020-report-says/gxlz8zp0ic2c1lw6vtl9r2j4bThis is what I wanted to hear!

Gardner always falls off down the stretch and is neutralized in the postseason. Love the guys passion and he will always be a Yankee, but just like Jeter, sometimes it's time. The Hicks extension was a joke.

They can do way better than Gardner, who is now nothing more than another all or nothing hitter in that lineup. Everything you said about Gardner and Hicks is correct and doesn't need to be restated.

Yanks to hire Matt Blake as pitching coach The Yankees will hire Indians director of pitching development Matt Blake as their next pitching coach, a source has confirmed to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. Blake, who worked for the Yankees before as an area scout, succeeds Larry Rothschild, who was dismissed earlier this week with one year remaining on his contract. The hiring of Blake fits with New York's desired change in direction with its pitching staff to incorporate more analytics and technology. Last June, the Yankees hired Driveline Baseball's Sam Briend to take over the organization's Minor League pitching system. Other candidates who reportedly interviewed for New York's vacant pitching coach position were former Yankees pitcher David Cone and collegiate coaches Chris Fetter (University of Michigan) and Matt Hobbs (University of Arkansas). www.mlb.com/yankees/news/matt-blake-new-yankees-pitching-coach

jeff ellis @jeffmlbdraft 10m Honestly would have rather made Matt Blake the pitching coach in Cleveland. But there is no way Tito would push out Willis. Blake was likely too new school for him, but this is about as big a loss as anything short of trading Lindor
jeff ellis @jeffmlbdraft 7m Last point on the loss of Blake. The Indian's last two drafts have been all about highest possible ceiling pitching early, trusting in their ability to develop pitchers. Blake was a central part of that belief.
Zack Meisel @zackmeisel 47m The Indians promoted Matt Blake to their director of pitching development just two days ago. He’s highly regarded (obviously, since he’s now apparently the Yankees pitching coach) both at coaching and translating advanced data into terms pitchers can understand and utilize.

Sounds like more Nerd ball. Analytics supreme.

Josh Bard will not return as the team’s bench coach, and the Yankees will promote infield coach Carlos Mendoza to take over the position, The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed. WFAN first reported the news. It’s unclear if Bard will remain with the organization. Already the Yankees have fired pitching coach Larry Rothschild, replacing him with Matt Blake from the Indians. They’ve also added Tanner Swanson to be their catching and quality control coach. nypost.com/2019/11/11/yankees-continue-coaching-shakeup-as-josh-bard-is-out-as-bench-coach/
