Tyler Wade with a 2 run bomb in the 1st. Cleared the right field wall. Not the front wall. The back wall. Crushed it. And Clint Frazier follows with a long bomb to left out of the stadium. It would great if those 2 had big seasons. As I said last year it doesnt bother me if Stanton is out of the lineup. His offense can be replaced. And his defense is obviously not a positive. This opens up the DH spot for Andujar and Judge. And I'm a big Mike Tauchman fan. I agree, and fortunately, the Yankees are one of the few teams that can eat a salary like that without being crushed.

They are used to it by now. Arods last couple. Ellsburys. And not Stantons. All very similar in AAV.

Better now than later. I just hope that he doesn't miss too much time when the games start to count. It's a shoulder injury. From... nothing. If the oblique injury zapped his production last year, this is much worse. He may never have what he had in 2017 ever again.

The “bench‐presser's shoulder”: an overuse insertional tendinopathy of the pectoralis minor muscle. Tendinopathies of the rotator cuff muscles, biceps tendon and pectoralis major muscle are common causes of shoulder pain in athletes. Yankees, Mets discuss potential Steven Matz trade amid rotation injuries With the Yankees in a search for starting pitching and the Mets in surplus, the two teams have spoken about potentially moving Matz to the Bronx, according to industry sources. Discussions were preliminary and there is skepticism momentum for a deal will build this early in the calendar. A void exists in the Yankees’ rotation with Luis Severino finished for the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. The Yankees are also without James Paxton, who will be sidelined until at least May after undergoing back surgery. A third starter, Domingo German, has 63 games remaining on an 81-game suspension after violating MLB’s domestic violence policy. The Mets are among the few teams in baseball with veteran rotation depth, following an offseason in which general manager Brodie Van Wagenen added free agents Rick Porcello and Michael Wacha. Those signings have left Matz to compete for a rotation spot in spring training. nypost.com/2020/03/02/yankees-interested-in-steven-matz-trade-amid-rotation-injuries/

Who’s better, Jacob deGrom or Gerrit Cole? 32 MLB experts weigh in. It is, as one executive from a National League team noted, “like asking someone to choose between Ali and Tyson in their primes.” That didn’t stop The Post from asking, though. With New York now the workplace for both Jacob deGrom, the two-time reigning NL Cy Young Award winner, and Gerrit Cole, who placed a close second (to Astros teammate Justin Verlander) in last year’s American League Cy Young voting, we surveyed 32 baseball operations people — a mix of front-office and field staff who currently work for teams other than the Yankees or Mets — with this query: If you could have either Gerrit Cole or Jacob deGrom for the 2020 season, at identical salaries, which ace would you choose and why? With many sharing the aforementioned NL official’s sentiment that either would do just fine, thanks, Cole ultimately prevailed by a 19-13 margin. nypost.com/2020/03/01/whos-better-jacob-degrom-or-gerrit-cole-32-mlb-experts-weigh-in/

The DeGrom vs Cole debate wont be settled or at least shouldnt be analyzed until we see how Cole pitches in NY. Right now its DeGrom. He has been straight filthy.

Judge, Stanton likely to miss Opening Day TAMPA, Fla. -- Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton are both unlikely to be in the Yankees’ Opening Day lineup, general manager Brian Cashman said on Tuesday at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Judge is continuing to undergo a battery of tests to determine the cause of the discomfort in his right pectoral muscle, and though Cashman said that Judge is responding well to treatment, there is no set date for him to resume on-field hitting. Stanton is recovering from a Grade 1 right calf strain, and Cashman said that he believes Stanton will be ready to play sometime in April. www.mlb.com/yankees/news/aaron-judge-giancarlo-stanton-injury-update

Only the Yankees. Year after year.
This is why spending money doesnt mean anything.

Brian Cashman on Aaron Judge:
"I don't see him ready by Opening Day because of the time frame. It's 3 1/2 weeks. There's just the healing and then having to have a Spring Training."

Notes: Yanks not eyeing trades; TAMPA, Fla. -- The potential for trades crossing New York City borough lines has fueled many a spirited barstool conversation over the decades. That tradition continued on Tuesday, when a newspaper report suggested that the Yankees have expressed interest in the Mets' Steven Matz -- a report that general manager Brian Cashman swiftly doused in cold water. "We have not talked to anybody," Cashman said. "We have not reached out to one club looking for anything. We have not engaged with any team about, 'What've you got available? What are you trying to do?' It's pretty early and we might very well have all the answers in camp -- doesn't mean we will, but we're still trying to determine what we have and what we don't have in terms of the alternatives. And we like what we see." www.mlb.com/yankees/news/brian-cashman-not-trading-for-pitching
