We’re probably going to lose Betances, and you know the old saying about having enough pitching...

It will be very interesting to see how the new reliever rule effects bullpen management and composition. I'm not a big fan of the change, but am not militantly against it either.

Been pushing it for a while. It was really getting to me trying to watch a game and it takes 5 minutes for a reliever to come in, throw a couple pitches, get yanked and another 5 minutes for the next to come in. It had been happening more and more in the game. I also like the strategies managers will have to figure out now. It adds another wrinkle. Lineups are even more now going to be LRLRLR ect. When you bring in a reliever you will have to look at the next 3 batters not just the one. I'm not sure it will make games shorter but it should make for more action. Less down time.

It's a horrible rule. Imagine having the bases loaded and you bring in a reliever. He then walks in two runs on eight pitches because he's completely off. Instead of yanking him ASAP before he gives up anymore runs, you're now forced to have him face one more batter before you can replace him.

They didnt need him, but it would have been nice. A bit of overkill. We have 4 locks right now in the rotation, Cole, Tanaka, Severino, Paxton. German is up in the air with his status for the DV. Montgomery still coming off that injury and TJ. The do have some young kids in the farm they could call up, Mike King being the first. So I guess they could have gotten him, but they will probably spend some more for a bat at some point. Maybe not. Maybe they are spent. Oh and I forgot, as of right now they still have Happ.

The Mets problem remains continuity and consistency. They generally have good starting pitching but that you never get the whole rotation pitching well at the same time, the bullpen remains weak and the team is still owned by the Wilpon’s. So, I don’t expect a whole loT. I expect them to be decent around .500 but not make the playoffs.

Gerrit Cole's Yankees Introductory Press Conference Will Reportedly Be 'Wednesday at Earliest' Are the Yankees giving Cole some time to mourn the inevitable loss of his hair and beard? He'll be trimming everything before he's allowed to don a No. 45 Yankee uniform, as per tradition. More realistically, the Yankees are probably trying to figure out how to clear two more roster spots in order to fit Cole and Brett Gardner on their 40-man roster. It remains to be seen whether they'll option some fringe-level players down to the minors, or if they'll be able to make a trade and offload some contracts before Wednesday. www.12up.com/posts/gerrit-cole-s-yankees-introductory-press-conference-will-reportedly-be-wednesday-at-earliest-01dw83jbkw10

Seriously, how do you guys feel about the Yankees' shave policy? I'm personally not a big fan of it because shaving can cause people to get in-grown hairs on their face and cause skin problems there. That issue is very predominant in the African american community. I lucked out but my brother and most of my cousins aren't clean shaven because of it.

Yankees bring back Adam Warren for third stint in Bronx Third time’s the charm for Adam Warren? The Yankees signed Warren to a two-year, minor-league deal which will pay him $800,000 if he’s in the majors, The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed. Warren, 32, had Tommy John surgery in September and likely will miss the entire 2020 season. nypost.com/2019/12/16/yankees-bring-back-adam-warren-for-third-stint-in-bronx/

Didi Gregorius: Gerrit Cole cost me Yankees return PHILADELPHIA — The Yankees made it clear Gerrit Cole was their top free-agent priority. With the Yankees needing to save some payroll, Didi Gregorius had to find a new home. What a home he has found in the middle of the Phillies lineup. Joe Girardi, Didi’s old manager with the Yankees and his new manager with the Phillies, said Monday that Gregorius will be in the middle of the action — not only at shortstop, but in the lineup, too — for his new team. nypost.com/2019/12/16/didi-gregorius-gerrit-cole-cost-me-yankees-return/

They are legalizing weed now a days for crying out loud. This isnt the 50s when the fans were wearing full suits in the stands. I wouldnt let them go overboard, like Kimbrel or something crazy like that, but I would let them have a clean beard.

Gerrit Cole has arrived in NYC -- and here's the first video of the superstar pitcher talking about his new team, his new $324 million deal ... and the Yanks famous NO-BEARD policy! The 29-year-old was swarmed by fans on the way into the Mandarin Hotel in New York where he signed baseballs, posed for selfies and was super nice to the media. The questions were rapid-fire ... but here's the gist of it. -- Cole says signing with the Yanks was a hard decision, which is shocking considered he had 324 MILLION reasons to put pen to paper. -- Cole explained why he's excited to be a part of one of the most storied franchises in all of pro sports ... "The history. The fans. Competitiveness." -- And, the beard ... that famous, beautiful beard? He seems to be coming to terms with the fact it's a goner. www.tmz.com/2019/12/16/gerrit-cole-new-york-yankees-beard-policy-video/
