Seriously, how do you guys feel about the Yankees' shave policy? I'm personally not a big fan of it because shaving can cause people to get in-grown hairs on their face and cause skin problems there. That issue is very predominant in the African american community. I lucked out but my brother and most of my cousins aren't clean shaven because of it. I get it, but I think its outdated. They are legalizing weed now a days for crying out loud. This isnt the 50s when the fans were wearing full suits in the stands. I wouldnt let them go overboard, like Kimbrel or something crazy like that, but I would let them have a clean beard. I am totally onboard with that.

Mets’ manipulation sets up unavoidable Dellin Betances chase From the list of currently available relievers, I’d start with Dellin Betances, a native New Yorker who more than proved his ceiling and toughness during his six prior seasons with the Yankees. Carlos Beltran’s teammate in The Bronx for nearly three years, Betances pitched in only one game in 2019 due to multiple injuries. If he can get even, say, 60 percent of the way back to his old self, he’d be the best reliever on the Mets’ roster. nypost.com/2019/12/16/mets-yoenis-cespedes-manipulations-set-up-dellin-betances-opportunity/

That issue is very predominant in the African american community. I lucked out but my brother and most of my cousins aren't clean shaven because of it. Two of my three teams (Yankees & Islanders) have a no long hair, no beard policy. The Islanders just recently adopted this policy once Lou Lamoriello was hired as Islanders' General Manager. Lou had that policy in New Jersey when they were winning their Cup(s). Given the fact that the Islanders have been one of the better teams in the NHL as of late, I'm all for the Giants adopting a no beard policy as well since they've sucked in recent years. eyesonisles.com/2018/08/30/new-york-islanders-understanding-lou-lamoriellos-rules/

Dodgers, Red Sox discussing trade for superstar Mookie Betts The Los Angeles Dodgers have engaged in exploratory trade talks with the Boston Red Sox about former MVP outfielder Mookie Betts, according to two officials with direct knowledge of the discussions. The officials spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to discuss the talks publicly. The Dodgers’ top priority remains Cleveland Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor, but if the two sides can’t agree on a package for the All-Star, the Dodgers could turn its attention to Boston. The Red Sox are much more inclined to trade Betts – who’s projected to earn $27-30 million in his final year before free agency – than Cleveland is with Lindor. The Red Sox, who had baseball’s highest payroll at $244 million, and will pay $13 million in luxury tax penalties, want to slash their payroll to be under the $208 million tax threshold in 2020. Los Angeles has included shortstop Corey Seager in trade talks with Boston and Cleveland, but are much more reluctant to part with prized prospect Gavin Lux, their shortstop of the future. The Dodgers outfield has been mix-and-match for years, but NL MVP Cody Bellinger is the only outfielder with an everyday spot locked down, despite A.J. Pollock signing a five-year, $60 million contract last winter. If Los Angeles was to acquire Betts, the club could turn around and flip other outfielders like Alex Verdugo or Joc Pederson. www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2019/12/17/mookie-betts-dodgers-red-sox-trade/2675699001/

The Yankees brass tried to blow Gerrit and Amy Cole away. In the end, the Bombers made the biggest, longest offer quickly in the process — which took about four hours of negotiations to hammer out — to land Cole. But they got off on the right foot thanks to visiting clubhouse manager Lou Cucuzza. Besides an informational box about the organization and area, the Yankees brought a couple bottles of special Masseto wine to their meet-and-greet with the couple in California. It blew the ace away. He could not figure out how Yankees manager Aaron Boone knew not only his favorite wine, but the vintage of his wedding anniversary. “Aaron brought a couple bottles of it and actually one of the vintages that they brought was the exact same vintage from the anniversary dinner that my wife and I had in Florence. And so I was a little bit on my heels,” Cole said Wednesday after the press conference introducing Cole as the Bombers’ new ace. “And I remember trying to, you know, trying to stay focused through the meeting, obviously, and not think about booze the entire time. I still couldn’t figure it out. And when I came home, I was trying to grind it. I was telling Amy, ‘How the f--- did they pull that off?’ There are not very many people in the world that know that that’s my favorite wine, and now there are so feel free if you have an allocation to send it my way. But I swear to God I laid my head down at like 11:30 at night to try to go to sleep. I didn’t sleep much after that night, but I literally I flew back up and I was like, www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/ny-gerrit-cole-wine-wedding-lou-cucuzza-20191218-4twlqbt4ebds5mz6imaffiysc4-story.html

I'm not a big fan of the 3 batter min, but am not militantly against it either. Will have some interesting impact on bull pen composition and management.

Good signing for the Mets. The Dodgers were also trying to get him. Jansen has regressed a lot over the last year and a half. They need bullpen help badly.

Apparently, the Yankees werent the only club in the AL East going hard after Gerrit Cole. Gerrit Cole signed a record-breaking deal with the New York Yankees, but he may have had a similarly massive offer from elsewhere in the AL East. Appearing Tuesday on SportsNet 590 The FAN, Toronto journalist Joey Vendetta said that the Toronto Blue Jays offered the righty $300 million. “I heard from a reliable source, a very reliable source, someone that knows the front office, that’s involved in the running of the team,” said Vendetta. “They offered 300 million dollars to Gerrit Cole to become a Toronto Blue Jay.” larrybrownsports.com/baseball/blue-jays-offered-gerrit-cole-300-million/529857I guess this was one of the mystery teams....

Glad the Yanks tacked on the 9th year to get it done. I'm not sold on Ryu doing well in the AL east.

Mariano Rivera Being Named 91st Best MLB Player of All Time is Insulting The Athletic has compiled a list of their choices for the 100 greatest MLB players of all time. On Friday, they released their selection for the 91st best player, and it is a bit of a head-scratcher. Mariano Rivera comes in far to low on this list at 91, and it's borderline insulting when you look at his lengthy and entirely unique résumé. The 13-time All Star, five-time World Series champ, three-time MLB saves leader, and 2003 ALCS MVP (just to name a few of his many accomplishments) deserves to be much higher on this list. His contributions to the game will almost certainly overshadow those of the numerous players who will be included ahead of him on the top 100. And all because he's "just a closer," right? Diminish his limited time spent on the field all you want, but Rivera warrants more respect than this. His position as the league's all-time saves leader speaks volumes to what he did as a professional baseball player during his 19 seasons with the New York Yankees. www.12up.com/posts/mariano-rivera-being-named-91st-best-mlb-player-of-all-time-is-insulting-01dx4dhz1k0b

Guess they don't value the pen,
