Yeah. Even we can hit their pitching. Shame we only play them 4 times. Our baserunning and defense is horrible. And did you see Rosarios flailing 3 pitch at bat? It’s more concerning that Alonso looks lost. His HR the other night is irrelevant. Even a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut. A few of them do. Cespedes is literally swinging at everything.

Down a run in the top of the ninth, our "closer" Diaz loads the bases with 2 walks, one hit and no one out.
Gets one out and then he hits the next batter with a wild 98 mph fastball.
Good times - how much are we paying for him and a basically useless Cano?
Where's my Steve Cohen?

Simple observations. How is this team supposed to win when Diaz, Betances and Lugo all can’t get out of anything? How is it possible to get a new coach and.still be so bad at the basic fundamentals? The Mets are ruining any of enjoyment I was getting out of sports being back. Trash.

Cespedes just opted out because of the virus. So, why did he not notify the team?

Cespedes just opted out because of the virus. So, why did he not notify the team? There's been a lot of why's related to him during his Mets tenure. Like playing golf on ir. So who knows? My bet is he realized he wasn't going to reach his incentives, so he bagged it. But doing it the way he did is leading to speculation of bad blood. Edit: Reporting backing this up. I believe his horrible start contributed to this, no way he suddenly got concerned about covid. If true, this also explains the Mets letting things leak during the game about it. Typical Mets dysfunction. Where is my Steve Cohen? nypost.com/2020/08/02/yoenis-cespedes-confronted-mets-about-playing-time-before-opting-out/

The athletic is reporting that yo actually said goodbye to a few teammates after the game on Saturday. So the team knew the day before but not management?

Raise your hand if you thought our rotation would be Degrom, Matz, Porcelllo, Wacha and Gsellman. I mean it’s an odd season. One good run would be enough to land them in the top 16 teams.

Yeah. They left the 2 positive peeps in Miami. I assume they will be testing everyone else asap, and hopefully we will be back to playing soon. This will probably mean 7 inning double headers the next time we are playing the Yanks.

Double header tomorrow night against Miami, and possibly 2 backt to back next weekend against the Yanks.

A conspiracy theorist might say that 2 supposedly positive false positives were well timed for a pitching staff in dire need. Just saying, got to have a theory.

A conspiracy theorist might say that 2 supposedly positive false positives were well timed for a pitching staff in dire need. Just saying, got to have a theory. Maybe. But having the result of having to play 3 double headers in less than a week might push back on that theory. Not good for a pitching staff.

Steve Cohen closes in on buying Mets The billionaire won the bidding on the right to purchase the team, according to The Post’s Thornton McEnery. Cohen is now in exclusive negotiations with the Wilpons and Katz families to complete the purchase. The group that posed the greatest threat to Cohen — led by former Yankee Alex Rodriguez and entertainer Jennifer Lopez — announced it pulled out of the process late Friday night. This is Cohen’s second chance to purchase the team for which he is a fan. He saw a deal with the Wilpons fall through in February because the current owners wanted to maintain organizational control for five years. Team COO Jeff Wilpon, who complicated the initial deal worth $2.6 billion, was not part of negotiations the second time around, The Post reported. nypost.com/2020/08/28/steve-cohen-is-buying-mets-alex-rodriguez-jennifer-lopez-are-out/

All reports are Cohen is now exclusively negotiating a deal to buy the mets. Arod is out as are the other bidders. And Jeff Wilpon is not involved with the negotiations. Reports are Saul Katz was adamant they take the highest offer. I just hope to god that Jeff Wilpon has no role in managing the team going forward. The reason the last deal fell through was he wanted to keep his COO title, salary and even his private plane which is paid for by the mets. Because things got so acrimonious in February, the new bid is thought to have structures in place to prevent any late drama.
“No one is going through February again,” said an insider. “This deal will close in days and then wait for [MLB] owner approval in November.”nypost.com/2020/08/28/steve-cohen-is-buying-mets-alex-rodriguez-jennifer-lopez-are-out/
