I look at this as a positive at this stage in the season. Get all the kids burn......Ballentine, Beal, Baker, Love.....this has the "POTENTIAL" to be one of the best young D backfields in the league that will be together contractually for a minimum of 3-4 years.....let me emphasize "POTENTIAL." I like your optimism but don't see it at all. I get Jenkins vibes from Baker...minus the talent. And if I wasn't told that the other guys are on the roster I wouldn't even know.

We knew that though... He was kicked out of college. He was a great CB for us for a while so Im not mad at the signing. I just cant believe this GM didnt trade him when that was the obvious option, and to twist the dagger in the flesh, he trades for a player in his FA year with draft capital.
Dave does seem to be rather pig-headed, and that's something Mara must consider at the end of the year. For the first time in my fandom, I can say that will have no problem if we clean house again.
JJ was a good corner 1 year out his whole career 2016. he was putrid in 2017 OK in 2018 and was average with a propensity to quit this year and was getting top corner money who was gonna trade for that. He was on the block last year and he is still here for a reason no-one wants to pay him what his contract was. Maybe now that he is free he will sign some where for less. This guy like OV was over paid from the get go.

Good thing he was around long enough to lead and teach the young guys the proper way of doing things ... lol
Would love to know what deals, if any, we turned down at the trade deadline to trade him .... Considering they cut him, there must not have been any offers as teams knew the Giants would release him at year’s end. Not sure why the Giants even kept him on the roster for this season.

I really only foresee either of these two things happening. One of them may, but for now I think it is best to wait. If I were to predict, I expect that the Giants slap the franchise tag on him. Certainly an option. One that would probably piss Williams off big time.

In fairness to these young players the Giants set them for this type of thinking and example when they kept Jenkins as their mentor.. I don’t agree with that at all. They also have Bethea in the team meetings. Isn’t he a stand up veteran presence in the locker room? No excuse for a player not giving his all on the field.. None! That is why he was un tradable teams will give him less now but that weren't paying that top tier money for an average CB with the quit gene in him and a brain the size of a pea.

I agree there is no excuse but it's human nature to conform to your surroundings or people you look up too. In this case Jenkins gave multiple examples of not balling all out. It's contagious which is where this team has failed..

I've stopped using that word as it too was part of my vernacular as slang. I can understand why it is offensive to some people. I think you would too if you had a child, or loved one, who was mentally disabled. It always comes down to my main life philosophy: Everyone has different value sets. No one's is more valuable than another's. If you believe yours is more valuable than another's then you are the issue. Not them. This is the same poster(dunno if you were here)thatvfat shamed Lorenzen afterthe died by calling him lazy when any of us with any knowledge would know he had major thyroid issues. I will stop here before I say what I really would like about this poster that would get me deleted from this forum Lol! I fat shamed no one. I welcome anyone & everyone to go read every post I said about him & tell me where exactly in any of my comments did I "fat shame" him. It's comical that the US is one of the most obese countries in the world, but according to this guy, it's ALL related to "thyroid" issues. It possibly couldn't be due to eating like a pig everyday while being a non exerciser. Surely, you cannot gain hundreds of lbs of fat by just being lethargic & consuming 4000-5000 calories of high fat, high sugar meals every day. No, no, no, it's the damn Thyroid gland dammit. If that's what you wanna call "fat shaming", then guilty as charged! BTW, my DIs called me way worse names on a daily basis for 12 weeks in PI, so anything you could wanna call me is kiddy league compared to what the pros threw at me. I won't wither & crawl into a corner & cry to the mods for being called...gasp..."offensive" names.

Based on what? All 3 have been awful. We have the worst secondary in football, the first thing the new staff does is rebuild the secondary with every resource possible. If Baker, Beal and Ballantine are top 3 on the depth chart next year it means the Giants missed the offseason.

"best news ever" he says, and while i can understand his feeling, im not thrilled about the continued classlessness of nfl players. hes calling people retards on twitter, then has that to say. i guess im getting old, i just see professionalism and class disappearing from pretty much every facet of life. Rebel scum.... hahaha,....Sorry, saw your avatar and couldn't resist

Did they know they were going to release him today back during the trade deadline? I bet not Trading Jenkins for anything less than a premium pick would've been foolish. We'd probably would've lost every game by 50 points since the deadline. We've lost every game since the deadline and it doesn't matter by how much.... 1. Nobody is crazy enough to give a premium draft pick for a 30+ player 2. You'd rather get absolutely nothing?

Really wish we could have moved him before the trade deadline, but it is what it is..it was time. I guess the Giants will just have to buy their own Gatorade.

Haha you guys really blame Jenkins bad play. Look at the rest of this sorry defense. Do you guys know how hard it is to play cornerback with no pass rush??

If Baker, Beal and Ballantine are top 3 on the depth chart next year it means the Giants missed the offseason. Based on all of them being very talented college players and this being their first year of NFL playing experience. The more experience the better. Very rarely at the DB position do guys come into the league and just light it up. You want a local example look at Collins....struggled mightily his first year...was arguably Defensive Player of the Year in 2016.....obviously he's since regressed. They also need to develop these guys which is why I'm hoping Bettcher gets bounced. Should I emphasize "POTENTIAL" one more time?

Taking a cap hit like the one that was expressed by Navy makes this another dumb choice where a suspension would've been better to do. After what happened with his text and the weak excuse for it without apologizing makes this move an expected one but dam another 14 mil of dead money for next season sucks.. 3.5 million 350 million?!?!?!! ****ing Gettleman!!

Some playoff contending team will snatch him up & many here will be crying when they see him playing in Jan, maybe even Feb. What a butthurt nation of easily "offended" people this nation has become. What ever happened to "sticks & stones"? I've stopped using that word as it too was part of my vernacular as slang. I can understand why it is offensive to some people. Say that to Connelly and Slayton.. For every Connely and Slayton we have a bunch of Phillip Dillards. And personally, if I’m Jenkins I’m moonwalking out of the facilities once I found out about the release. It’s like doing a 2 year stint and finally going home. Jenkins is not as bad as some perceive him to be. Now, Baker will be lined up against the opposing 1s now. Consider himself lucky it’s Miami, Washington and Philly finishing the season. No legitimate number 1 on those teams. Like most of the other players the Giants have let go, going to a good team changes everything and does wonders for the perception of your play.

I just saw that any team to sign him might be on the hook for 10.5 and change. Maybe someone can be enticed to pay without giving up draft pick. Just don't see it. To me signing a dog like him who was trusted to be a mentor and showed the youngsters how to take plays off would make the Williams deal look genius. Never mind the crap that sometimes comes out of his mouth.

Well so far the Giants might not be winning but it isn't because these guys have left the building none are doing anything except Kennard but he does it like JPP he had 3 sacks the first game none up to game 8 then another 3
