Someone asked me as a Giants fan if I thought it was worth it (all this losing) if it meant we picked Chase Young (Finally a first round LB). Then that Missy Elliot song came on the radio...I'm not sure the exact lyrics but I think she says
"is it worth it? Let Dave work it. Take Chase in the first and we'll reverse this"
I don't want Eli to lose this week but I really want Chase Young.

We still need a LOT more then a Chase Young... 2 tackles Center Running back that goes north and south and has vision... Wide Receiver, cause the talent in the draft says so QB...in another few years ...how's that Baker, Jackson, Darnold and Josh Allen working out the last few weeks? Safety..Linebackers Possibly anther corner...change that now, yes another corner Tight End

Safety..Linebackers Possibly anther corner...change that now, yes another corner Tight End By this outlook every team in the NFL needs everything. I agree the talent in the draft dictates us finding a WR at some point. We are good at RB, could use a back up of course. We are set at QB or nothing else matters. I think C is the biggest need on the OL, then RT. Solder is serviceable for the time being. Peppers and Love at S are more than fine. LBs is the obvious one.
Your assumption here is that there are no players worth keeping on this team and that is something I completely disagree with. Add a Chase Young to this D and they would look completely different. The 49ers went from the 28th worst D to the 3rd in one year by adding a Joey Bosa. I know it isn't that simple all the time but the single greatest impact on a D is adding a pass rusher and Young is a supreme talent.

If one move in our draft position or one player makes that much difference for our future, we are in bigger trouble than we think.

No. It's not worth it because the NFL is littered with busts in the first pick so who cares. I just want a GM with a brain at this point to be honest. He is a disaster and I HATED Reese like no tomorrow. I don't care about Chase Young because DG will probably pick another useless hog mollie. That term "Hog Mollie" makes me get violent anymore

If one move in our draft position or one player makes that much difference for our future, we are in bigger trouble than we think. Nah. 1 great player on a team makes a huge difference to all teams. Take Mahommes off the Chiefs are they the same? Take Donald off the Rams, Bosa off the 49ers, Brady off the Pats. One guy can and does make a huge difference all the time.

We are talking about identifying that player before the draft. It doesn't matter what pick you have if you pick the wrong guy. It's a crapshoot. Once you show me how to predict who is going to be that player before the draft I will agree. It's easy after the draft. How did peeps not see Brady in the 6th?

You got it all wrong. Forget Chase Young. Shurmur said that teams that get a pick six win 80% of the games. Draft a pick-sixer. Playoffs every year.

Brady and Donald are HOF. There are a few other player beside Bosa contributing on defense. Mahomes is playing at a HOF level. The QB is the one guy who wins Super Bowls.

It's pretty clear I mean Chase Young would turn this D around if he is as good as I think he can be. Yes if he is a bust he won't help our team...same can be said for anyone.

Even the terrible Raiders D with Khalil Mack on it was 20th, they lost him the next year and dropped to 32nd. They would have dropper farther but we ran out of teams to rank above them lol.
My team has 2 wins should I not try to get excited about anything? Sorry man I won't be one of those posters that just comes here to bitch about everything.

If we lose to this Dolphins team, we will officially be at rock bottom Over the last 3 seasons we have barely won enough games to win the division if we added all the wins up. The Dolphins game and every other game this year means crap. I hope we win for Eli's sake and because I'm a fan but it's meaningless.

I think my point remains. I'm not going to be hoping my team loses Sunday just so my team might be better because that loss might get them a slightly better future player. There is zero evidence or logic that losing Sunday will be better for this team in the future. I've already checked out on our season, but I would rather see a big improvement in our secondary play Sunday than us lying down for a draft pick. Just MO.

I am in no way saying I hope we lose Sunday or any other game and I sure as hell don't want to see our players laying down and giving up.
The question was simply "is it worth seeing your team lose if you end up with an amazing player"? Was it worth it in 1980 only winning 4 games and ending up with LT? Of course. A little pain for a huge game. Obviously if they took Mel Owens instead it would be a different story. Make no mistake I am not rooting for us to lose.

Tell that to the Ravens and Lamar Jackson. The Ravens have been compeitive for many years without Jackson. There was a Super Bowl not too long ago. Never compare the importance of a QB with a defensive player. They’ve been to the playoffs twice in the last seven years. Haven’t won a single playoff game in either showing. Having said that. There was no caveat about “defensive player” or “QB”. Just “not one player makes a difference.”

I tend to believe teams that are 3-13 need a lot more vs superbowl contending teams...but hey, I can be in the minority with that assumption Solder could serve up the end of Jones ... so yeah, he's a serviceable left tackle for a 2 win team with a rookie QB
