Sooooo I know it’s doesn’t matter but let’s play what if’s.
Would our team be better going into the 2020 draft this year if instead of drafting Daniel Jones and #6 last year we take Josh Allen. Ride Eli for one more year (I mean we already paid him his big salary). This year we would have been in a position to get a Great College QB. Or are you guys that Happy with Daniel Jones

Given the failure rate of even great college QBs, I'm glad, in retrospect, we seem to have gotten a good one. It was basically 50-50 and we came up heads.
I believe we would have won more with Eli, so we may have had to give up draft capital to move up.
That being said, I wanted to move back two years ago and take L. Jackson with extra picks in late round 1. Also wanted Josh Allen at 6, and either Grier or Lock (don't remember which I liked and I'm too lazy to go back and look at my posts) in late round 1. I was also ok with skipping QB all together with the expectation of having to move up next year if we did as well as I hoped.

This QB class was rated higher by the so called experts, magazines, etc. There could be 5 QB's in the 1st rd. Burrows, Tua, Hurst, Herbert, and Fromm. But if we could get Young it could wind up as good or better with Young and Jones. Rather than if we took Allen and a QB from this year.
Of course depending on Jones I'm personally not sold on him. But who knows which one of this years QB's will be really good or less than expected. The odds of all 5 QB's being successful are a long shot to say the least.

Jones is more refined a better thrower of the ball at the same stage of their careers. Jones can still give you some of what Allen does with athletism. Now the question is will he progress like Allen has he put a ton of work in and has grown through his sophomore year, the Bills also helped him out got some dependable weapons and have a defense that can get off the field and get him the ball back, last there OL is about 2 payers ahead of ours. The short of it is if Jones comes back better and grows through his sophomore year to be a solid franchise QB DG did the right thing. Barkely isn't gonna be injured for ever he will be him self again and they will have their franchise QB and the best player out of the 2018 draft.

Even though Allen looks like the best of last year's lot, there is no chance in hell that he would have been the QB taken. No one was suggesting anything like Allen last year, right? If you want to roll around scenarios on Darnold, that would be a realistic look back.

I think jones is a good player and should develop nicely if given the players around him but picking him at 6 was a reach pick . Count how many games this team has lost over the last 4-5 years in the closing minutes because we can’t get a stop when we need one . There’s no doubt that we needed to get a replacement for Eli but the way we did it just completely lacked any planning .. we had holes everywhere and still do and we took a QB with a 6 pick and kept a QB making 23 million .. zero sense .. We needed josh Allen .. we won’t win until we can rush the passer and cover tight ends .. there is very little difference between jones and Eli except that jones can run here and there . We still aren’t winning .. Josh Allen was an immediate day 1 upgrade over anything we had . It’s not every year a talent like him comes out. Passing him was a mistake ..

Our bad drafts go back 9, 10, 11 years. This last draft is probdbly the most promising, but it’s too new to tell it can easily end up as bad as its predecessors. The Flowers, Apple, and Barkley drafts were the worst as far as I’m concerned given players available v who we took. I hated all those selections from the moment of those selections. Jones I didn’t hate, but I’d take taken the edge rusher and let the QB board come to me, Jones has a skill set, but it did not scream you have to have me at 6. I think he’s got a Chance same as I think Lock and Stidham have a chance. We need this next guy to know what he’s doing regarding QB development which is why Rhule and Rivera are not fits for the Giants.

We took a RB when people screamed for a QB, we took a QB when people screamed for an Edge and now we might get an Edge and people will scream for something else. If Barkley, Jones and who ever we take this year live up to their potential then that is all that matters and I'll be happy.

They need to put a better offense around Jones before I can say for sure, but a combination of Josh Allen and Joe Burrow would be hard to pass on.
