Was Jacobs a backbreaker or the Tip-Toe-Burgler? Seemed like it depended on the 10 guys around him. Yes. How many times did Henry get hit in the backfield the past 2 games? Jacobs was horrible if he didn't get some time to build up some momentum. This is just the latest "hot take."

As they proceed to the championship game ay?
I enjoy smash mouth. It doesn't mean I want to see it to death. It means I enjoy having that facet as an option to impose our will.

Ehh I'll take what we have and another with his skill sets and pressure the defense with backs that are all around dynamic types And big backs have a shelf life of 3 or so at most before they get slow and plodding
BJ is one of our all-time top backs.
I would take a guy like that over a Lamar Jackson. How long do you give Jackson before he's knocked out? This kid is playing on borrowed time.
I'm amazed he wasn't hurt already. You know it's coming.

The lust for a big plodding back just because of a 2 game run is funny here ... either that or there is something to be said for "goober" football after all... and how many times did SF run the ball today, by the way? I counted 40+ times but then my math ain't so good Yes A very balanced modern offense that has dynamic weapons outside (Sanders and Samuels),Kittles,a FB that is an athletic hybrid H back that can run TE routes... The 49ers were not running into stacked boxes until it was over. Now let's discuss the running game Many of the runs were the same play out of different formations(their last TD drive they basicly ran the same play out of 5 different formations and sets),one of my favorite is a unique play where the FB crosses the qb and hits the b gap and the back hits the a gap as often the MLB keys on the fb for where to run it. Now add their heavy use of jet sweeps(even Kittles Carrie's tbe ball) and a lot of ghost motion that has players running back and forth Their backs are all the same mold,small/midsized fast/quick that are excellent in the passing game so they can keep the pressure on teams no matter who is playing. And the way they utilize everybody, including the FB(as said above Jusceyck is basically Will Tye tgat can block like a FB and instantly morph a 21 into a 12 and further stress defense by motioning him out to the slot, pulling yet another LB out of tbe box. Tbe 49ers are not playing goober ball at all. And they also can and have passed the ball to win games(see Saints) They to me are tbe perfect blended offense I would love to see here with Barkley and another back with his skillsets

We need an team that knows how to run block. Funny thing If we somehow accomplished this even at a slightly above average rate we will stop listing over things we can't have and fall in love with the thing we have ....

I tend to agree Honestly there really wasn't much of a blueprint shown how to stop this offense because most of tbe damage was self inflicted by themselves.. But he his going to get killed

He just beat the Pats at home, and a 14-2 Ravens team in their building back to back. Pretty impressive.

Other than Phil.....BJ is my favorite all time Giant.
He was the attitude of our offense.
I was at the Greenbay 07 championship game when he ran over Woodson you could hear it in the stands it sent the message. Loved Jacobs rivals like the cowboys feared him. He played with passion. Loved being a Giant. It exuded from him.

bj was great but you need a beast line with him . The success of a big back like henry or Jacobs is dependent off of them being able to get to full speed before contact . When they have to avoid contact in the backfield they become ineffective. Henry would not have anywhere near the success with our current offensive line .

Jackson is a pretty smart runner.
Most times his runs take him to the sidelines and he avoids heavy contact.
He's more likely to get hurt being sacked.
Unfortunately my most vivid memory of Jacobs is his hesitation in hitting the hole and getting stopped for no gain. Mentally he lost it and seemed to fear contact.
Derrick Henry is a rumbling beast like Marshawn Lynch but still needs good blocking to be effective. No hole...no gain.

We are very similar in that regard. Phil is my all time favorite and Brandon is right up there.
I would probably go with Harry 2nd, but Brandon is my favorite from his era.
Wow listen to the liveliness and enthusiasm of Joe Buck calling that TD. What a great broadcaster... Zzzzzzzzzzz

I mean, Ryan Tannehill was about to retire. Now he will be a hot name this offseason.

But imagine him team with a bit of bruiser. That would be scary. Especially when the whether turns and teams must run the ball.
Ehh... We have seen you can throw in bad weather in the playoffs...that is just a myth these days(New England has done it for years,us in Green Bay,Philly vs Vikings NFC championship game...amongst others) A stone handed bruiser makes the offense way too predictable, besides I think we have a guy that can play that role with Penny, use him more than as the occasional hood ornament in a 2 back set with Brkley as a.decoy.. Ya mean like... Getting 1st downs predictable?

Penny? Cmon.... Id take a Bo Scarbrough/Josh Adams type.....a guy that could be had in the late rounds/udfa Bo Scarborough? lol ... he is terrible Dont need a stud, just a compliment to SB that can give us 8-10 punishing runs a game to soften up the opponents defense. Were a super finesse team. SB, Shepard, Slayton, Engram. Golden Tate might be our most physical offensive player, thats scary and sad. Zeitler and Solder arent punishers either, Id call them both finesse as well. Phsicality used to be our identity, now its a glaring weakness.

Like we could with tbe all around back that can average 2500 yards a year from scrimmage and keep defenses on their heels if we had a good o line? Wouldn't that be nice... Exactly Build the line, get another back with all around skillsets like what the 49ers have (3 clones that do the same thing in that they are all smaller, fast, great in the passing game and enough power to break a tackle)and be an all around balanced modern offense that can win any style of game that is presented to them... If we want to clone a team from yesterday I'd much rather the 49ers as they are probably the most versatile in the league offensively (they never run against 8 man boxes because teams have to fear the 2 outside wrs and their TE) 4k in the air,2 k on the ground supported by the best front 7 on defense that can ruin the games ..
