All of you who have dangerously insisted that this Pandemic is mostly political or some kind of a paranoid syndrome, blown way out of proportion need to simply shut the **** up! This needs to be taken seriously. No one knows how this ends. No One! It is said that China seems to be getting a handle on this. Not true. Everyone who is infected is in isolation from their families. What happens when quarantine is lifted? No one knows. NO one!
There is a complete failure of the Federal Government to recognize the threat we are facing. We are the worst in the world in testing. Let that sink in, Trump supporters. CDC is way understaffed and impotent. I'll be 81 next month. What do you think my chances are if I'm unlucky to get it. My wife was just diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemo. Her immune system would not be able to handle this virus.
So please, don't preach to me about "the sky is falling" panic. Maybe we have a chance if you people grow up a bit and listen to the professionals. I don't want you prayers or your platitudes. I want your Attention.
I was not preaching I was stating facts. The fact is 1400 people in the Country have died since January from the flu. 33 Form Corona. So I will ask you this . If the flu take more victims. Why is there no reporting, government meetings , Event shutdowns with influenza ? (12 weeks) 3 per week with corona. 117 per week with the flu. Why no panic with the flu? There is no cure . You don't know if the vaccine defends against the right strain. I will use your words NO one knows no one if the flu will kill them. I'm not sure if the flu is the same or slightly altered strain each "season", but it's been around and labeled as such for a very long time. This virus is evidently very new, and assumeably hasn't even spread to all areas yet. And of course, there's no known vaccine for it, either.

The flu vaccine is only 40% accurate on targeting the right strain. We are hand shake society . We live, work and socialize in very close proximity to each other. It has had plenty of time to spread. Example: If one person comes in contact with 2 people . Those 2 people come in contact with 2 people……….. 50 times later. 2^50 = 1.259E+15 or 12,590,000,000,000 persons contacted. This an extreme example. It shows how contact from one person can rapidly administer contact to a population. The infection rates are not as the panic is showing.

And in Asian countries, they have been wearing masks regularly and not initiating contact for various reasons and quite some time, yet it took off there. I believe we are far less agreeable to being inconvenienced or following protocol over here, and am still quite concerned about what time will reveal.

I think one of the main things is, it keeps one from touching their own mouth and nose - something most of us frequently do, subconsciously. And likely you would keep a distance from people you see wearing them. Just a thought.

Just with the runs on the supermarkets is a incubation ground for any aerobic pathogen.

Shit is getting real serious out there though!! They are shutting down everything. It has to be more than just media driven. Trump had to relent and call a national emergency.
Here is the thing about THIS virus that makes the potential for it to be worse. It's new. We have vaccines for the flu already, So for every new strain that pops up, there is already a base formula that just has to be tweaked. We have NOTHING for this one. There are people recovering from the symptoms, but we are not killing the virus. We have no idea if they are still carriers. If the thing is just lying dormant before it strikes again.
The flu sucks. It's a bitch of an illness that kills lots of elderly and the vulnerable. Healthy people get flu shots...and sometimes that doesn't even work. But to have NOTHING to combat the virus, it could go on and on and on.......eventually killing far more people, just at a slower rate. The flu has a "season"....maybe this one does too. We just don't know yet.
Now, compound that with the world economy being at risk. I am going shopping for supplies tonight, where it's a bit quieter. I'm not talking about buying up all the TP......just supplies. It's not as crazy down here right now.......well, it's ALWAYS crazy down here, so I think the stores are used to being always busy.
Good luck to everyone. I hope it's all a big nothing.

It is not even that bad. Imagen if something as deadly as 1918 flu were to hit. 1.9 million deaths in the US and 50 million globally. Can anyone imagine if this scare happened during football season? The billions (that's Billions with a B) that would be lost.
The NFL is SO lucky it happened during their off season where they can still essentially conduct business as usual.

Even if it curtails during the summer months (which is not a guarantee), it will most likely come back during the fall and winter months with no vaccine in sight. So the NFL will not skate from this unprecedented pandemic.

Oh well, the Giants have been eliminated by November recently so there is the silver lining.

Sports has been the last thing on my mind. I come here to get my mind off the day to day tribulations of what we call the Covid-19. A name people across the globe are very aware of right now. My day to day life has changed dramatically, I still go to work, unfortunately I work where this virus is on a rampage. NYC. I fear I could get it and give it to my family, I try my best to be cautious. But, I know my chances of getting it are high.
All I can do is still live life, just not in ways that I’m accustomed to. Take care of your loved ones, and know that this will all pass. Cherish the little things in life, because everyone here and across the planet have felt this in some way or another. And I think I can speak for everyone. I have washed my hands enough times over the past few weeks to last me a lifetime.
