Jags receive 4th rounder
Good move by the Jags. Frees cap space and quiets QB controversies.

$18.75M dead cap hit for Jags this year. What a horrendous signing.
Have no idea what the Bears are doing

I wonder if that puts them in the first-round QB mix for the draft. Hard to imagine that the plan is to proceed with Minshew as their starter....

I dont understand why people dont see that. He played very good last year for a rookie on a bad team. Very Tony Romo / Russel Wilson ish (not as strong an arm as Wilson though) Jags love him

Looks like they are going to give Mineshew a 1 year look.
Or...
He becomes trade bait if they move up because they absolutely love one of these qbs..
9 and 20 plus maybe their 3rd.... Gets us a fab 4 lineman BPA at edge/lb or WR the next 2 picks Grab our C and BPA some needs day 2 (Focus mostly on offense to finish it off)
Cooking with fire now

Minshew was 6-6 last year on a bad Jags team. He threw for 3200+ yards in 12 games. He had 21 TDs to 6 INTs in those 12 games. He also ran for 350+ yards for 20 1st downs. He has displayed a tremendous accuracy on the run ability. Why would they trade him? Why would they draft another QB? It looks like they found one on the very cheap. The only thing is his personality is wacky. Can he hold it together? Living in the area, the team loves him. The fanbase loves him.

IDK Now there is enough film on him to find and exploit weaknesses . I would think DCs have all ready found them. He is a 3rd rounder .It is rare to be as good as his NFL numbers were last year. It not being a fluke. This season will be telling for him.

I would like to see the kid beat the odds and do well.

We can say the same exact for Jones, who actually didnt put up as good numbers as Minshew. I see Murray, Jones and Minshew as the (potential) franchise QBs. Haskins I dont think holds on to it in Washington.

I think the latitude for a 1st round QB is much more broad than later round a QB. The eggs were put into the basket at the moment of the pick. Later round picks have to earn that admiration . I just think a 6-6 3rd pick is a big gamble for the coach and GM without a contingency plan. Who knows maybe the pick up a vet backup cheap. A 19 million dollar cap hit with Foles. A saving of a little over 1million. Their GM has balls.

Coach Nagy and Foles were together in Philly. So , Foles is familiar with his offense.

The only negatives I can see for Mindhew is he doesmt have a great arm strength and his off the field antics are crazy. Not like "he could get arrested" crazy, but a "pornstache camper trip across the USA" crazy. He is a legit QB IMO. It's the same risk Judge has in playing Jones. I'd say much less risk than Haskins for Rivera.

Completely different dynamics. I am pulling for the kid. It is a ballsy move taking a 19 million dollar cap hit and betting on Minshew

You are saying that because Jones was picked 6 that its less ballsy than going with Minshew who was picked later? Minshew was a 6th round pick by the way. Talk about scoring big.

No it was ballsy taking that cap hit on an unproven QB. If it does not pan out . The pitchforks will be coming out in J-ville. I am not a fan of Foles,. To take that cap hit without a contingency in place if Minshew is more Matt Flynn than Tom Brady. It takes big cohoneys to do that. IMO.

I dont think it matters who is behind him. Taking the cap hit if tough regardless, but helps them after 2020.

Seems nobody really believes in Foles. He seems like he can't stay on the field. From the toast od the league to just another guy in a few short years. Surprised Belechik didn't show any interest for only a 4th rd pick. Could have reworked the contract.
Minshew needs to show me. The Jags could take a QB (Love, Eason, maybe even Herbert) with their 1st pick at #9. Hopefully they might be interested in trading up to the #4 spot.
