RBs... not worth the squeeze.
5 years into his NFL career. Gurley looked like a great just a short few years ago. Now, his career is on life support.
We better be a great team in the next couple of seasons of SQB is in the same boat.

Gurley was also damaged goods coming into the draft with a ripped up knee Bad analogy Was it the same injury that effected him over the last season and a half?

Saquon does not have a arthritic knee. You can argue all you want.....but the fact is that the careers of RB's tend to be very short. Gurley is a guy who was on top of the world in mid-2018. He was the gold standard for RB's. Now he's been cut. He will get picked up I'm sure somewhere but his effectiveness has been strongly diminished.
You get only so many touches in this league as an NFL RB. Very few exceptions.

Saquon does not have a arthritic knee. Want to know what causes chronic conditions like that?......350 touches/season as an NFL RB.

That is debatable. There have been more than a few that have had 10 + year careers.

Man I love Saquon but this makes me nervous. This is why people were against a RB at 2 and while I have always defended the pick, this doesnt help.

Man I love Saquon but this makes me nervous. This is why people were against a RB at 2 and while I have always defended the pick, this doesnt help. Every anecdote his true as long as you don't have to apply context. This is why it is idiotic to waste top picks on QBs. Tom Brady was a 6th round pick.

If rbs have short careers wouldn't you want to acquire them via the draft when there wear is the least and thier cost is low? The second contract is what you want to avoid.

Actually the shortest nfl position by year is Wrs at 2year 2 month's on average followed by running backs at 2 years 5 months followed by TEs 2 years 8 months. The longest positions are QB and Olineman because there just isn't enough talent at these positions to keep swapping them out.

Want to know what causes chronic conditions like that?......350 touches/season as an NFL RB. How many RB get that condition? Let me put it this way....If you get 350 touches every year you are going to break down. This league is physically devastating for RB's.
Go back to 2016 and look at the leading RB's. Many are out of the league, looking for a job or seriously diminished. That was just 4 years ago.
Elliott.......his rookie year. we'll see. Blount.....out of football David Johnson......benched and now traded Demarco Murray......out of football Todd Gurley.....cut Lamar Miller........injured and probably out of football. Frank Gore......back up...(but he is amazing). but probably out of football Le'Vean Bell......much less than he was Jay Ajayi......out of football Melvin Gordon....His rookie year and now looking for a job Jordon Howard......diminished and on his third team in a year Lesean McCoy....healthy scratch second half of last year DaVonta Freeman.....Cut Jeremy Hill......out of football
Most of these guys are STILL in their 20's.

Thanks for the stats. Talented players last longer because they are harder to replace. Its not about position. Yes you can have a rb by committee with cheaper players like SF but they are allocating more salary and roster space to these guys. I think all thier rbs combined is costing them 15 mill this year while all ours cost about 10 if that.

So all of them had an arthritic knee? Until you show the medical condition . IMO Your blowing smoke, I can go through a list of QBs also cut in their 20 just as long. Gurley was cut because of a chronic condition.

Most top NFL RB's will have 3 to 5 peak years. The best QB's get 15 years of the same.

I'm not saying there aren't exceptions....but they are VERY rare.
