It is that time of the year. 33 days away. Again it is time to put up or shut up. Who will dethrone our reigning champion Fbomb?
Gee and I went over the rules ( He is always a big help)
Again I have an automatic output spreadsheet. As soon as the pick is made. Each participants points are tallied and displayed. It has been tested and works in accordance with the rules. I can post the spreadsheet online as I did last year . Or just run it from my PC. Whatever you guys want.
I changed it up a little bit this year . I added 3 additional picks. There is a good probability we may trade out of a pick . The extra 3 picks are players, if we make a trade. You can anticipate who will be chosen. It does not have to be the1st round. Any round you think a trade will be made. Make your picks accordingly.
The further down the draft. It is all the more difficult to pick the right player. As draft continues. The points go up by 2 and 2 again. Round 1 pick 4 is worth 10 points. Round 2 pick 36 is worth 12 points, pick 99 is worth 14 points……. Picks in Round 7 are worth 22 points. Also we have the esteemed privilege this year of picking Mr. Irrelevant You get that one correct. It is worth 25 points +any additional rule's points that apply.
Here are the contest rules:
Rule 1: Correct player picked in right place and right position 10 +2 points for each correct pick after the 1st round. + rule 2 points. The first round is 10 point for the correct pick , 2nd is 12 ,3rd is 14....... 7th is 22 . Mr. irrelevant is 25 points. This rule applies to all rounds
Rule 2 :Correct position 10 points. It must be this format to get the rule 2 points QB, WR, RB, OL, TE, DT, OLB, MLB, CB, S, and ST Example: Chase Young would be an OLB. A 3-4 DE would be a DT. So if your player and position is right in round 1. It adds up to 20 points . Player wrong position right. You receive 10 points for picking the correct position. Applies to all rounds.
Rule 3: Correct player wrong round or draft position will net you 5 points. This applies to all rounds Explanation You pick Player X in round 2 and the Giants pick player X in any other round . You receive 5 points. Applies to all rounds.
Rule 4: Applies to round 7only . We have 4 picks in round 7. 3 of the picks are worth 22 points if in the right order. Right player out of order in round 7 = 10 points + rule 3 for a total of 15 points.
Rule 5: Trade players, each correct player in correct postion is worth 10 points. Out of order is worth 5 points see rule 3 but only applied to trade player Example: if all 3 player are in the exact sequence. 10 points per player. If any are out of sequence . That or those players are wort 5 points each. Bonus points: Closest to the right time length without going over to complete 1st round. (5 points) Will the Giants make a trade , yes/no (5 points) Most positions drafted for Defense/ Offense/ Tie (5 points) Most picks for Giants from a School (5 points)
Please submit your picks in this format.
First and last name of player Position played
Example: RD1 Chase Young OLB RD2 RD3 RD4 RD5 RD6 RD7-1 RD7-2 RD7-3 RD7-4 Trade 1 Trade 2 Trade 3
Do not forget to add to your mock: Total time the 1st round will take: Hours:Minutes Will there be a trade: Yes/No Most position taken by the Giants: Defense / Offense / Tie What school will the Giants take the most players from. : name of school
The cut off day to join the Mock is April 22 . All drafts to be final by 12PM on April 23. If you change your original mock. Please note the change with a colored font. Or I may miss it.
I can answer any questions. I am flexible. If it is a collaborative agreement to change the rules. No problem. Any rule change is going to take time on the spreadsheets. The earlier the better.
Good luck.

I wanna see your spreadsheet...Sounds cool. Can we just make one LB category. These college players have weird positions...If Giants picked Isiah Simmons, do they get points if they chose, Safety, CB, LB?
hahaha

A working test sheet (clone sheet) that I will use copy for everyone's individual sheet ( why I call it a clone) And a "master sheet" Where I will Input of the actual picks when drafted and the corresponding information. This the a rule 3 statement for the 1st round pick in the clone sheet (The output cell) Clone cell B3 is where the contestant's chosen player's name would be for the 1st round. If it does. Give an output of 5 ( 5 points) If not. Look at the next IF statement...…. If none of the IF statements are true. Give an output of 0 (highlighted in red) It was simple to configure.

EDITED: 4/21 BLUE FONT
I love to see how it has evolved over the years to when Titwio and I tried it out on the old message boards. You guys have really taken it to the next level! I’ll make mine here and try and limit posts so it’s easier to find them. I’ll make a note if I end up editing (which I inevitably will do several times in the month to come lol). I left the trade portion empty for now. I’m not quite sure if you want us to highlight which round you think they’ll be picked or if we just name 3 players who might be picked with acquired picks
RD1 Jedrick Wills OL RD2 Matt Hennessy OL RD3 Logan Wilson ILB RD4 Darrell Taylor OLB RD5 Quez Watkins WR RD6 Kvon Wallace S RD7-1 McTelvin Agim DT RD7-2 James Robinson RB RD7-3 Trevis Gipson OLB RD7-4 Yasir Durant OL Trade 1 Michael Pittman WR Trade 2 Amik Robertson CB Trade 3 Yetur Gross-Matos OLB
Total time the 1st round will take: 4 Hours :18 Minutes Will there be a trade: Yes Most position taken by the Giants: Defense What school will the Giants take the most players from. : Alabama
I’ve edited to something I could see the Giants doing rather than what I necessarily want to happen. That’s always the tricky part trying to see where DGs head is at

Just pick 3 additional players. You can get the player and position both correct. Or position.

Interesting. I started doing something similar, but I had a spreadsheet with everyones picks, and a master sheet with the picks, with a column for name, position and college, and if the same column matched with the master sheet that I populated during the draft, players would get points assigned automatically. I can tell you are doing the same think but more efficiently. I've actually considered a mock draft app.

The players you think would be drafted with those picks. My fault I should have made that clear.

But this the base on how all the rules are configured. The game time one is tricky . It has to meet 2 true conditions (must be >= the actual time and must be <= to everyone's predicted time.)

If possible let me know if you are going to participate. I do not need the mock yet. Just a head count.

I hate picking what I think they are going to do vs what I want them to do...Ruggs is the Barkley of this year, DG can not resist...kid is a freak of nature...see them trading for an all around tight end for the new ex Pat coach...Becton could be traded for, up...if he begins to fall a bit. Runyan who had a great combine and stoned Chase Young, as well as Barth, will be the projects at OT...not sure if we go Harris the zone blocker with the quick feet, but I do see a center in my crystal ball....and a good zone type blocker. If Zack the sack begins to fall, look for a trade...like Gaither, these 2 guys are light but can get to the QB, quickly. Tanner Muse is another defensive hybrid...7 probably too late for him. We need more picks.

I would however, if a trade back say to the Raiders, and luckily got my OT with my first 1st rounder... and then say a Queen and K’Lavon Chaisson were sitting there, but so was Ruggs? I'd jump at Ruggs before just about any defensive player... True story...my dad, RIP, was a HUGE gambler. Compulsive in all honesty. Craps, blackjack...and he loved his bookie and betting on football, college and pro. Anyhow, he played stakes that a blue collar Brooklyn cop should shudder at, and honestly, why I don't gamble at all. Anyway...2008 superbowl...my dad had a Vegas sized go at the numbers, and if he won it would of been over 6,000 dollars. His numbers were 4 and 0. He was also the biggest Giant fan I ever knew of.... Randy Moss, 4 and a 0. 2:39 and their own 17. 4... 0...6000.

We need more picks. That is the secret to it. To understand how human element that is involved is a hard task. The first 10 picks. It is throwing darts. Excuse the cliché. But it is the truth. I contemplated adding that for fun. 10 points right player to the right team and 5 for just getting the player within the first 10. I came to the conclusion. There is no challenge in that. We would all score high. As I thought about it. The true challenge in a Mock draft is from the 3rd round and lower. That is why I made the point totals go up exponentially the lower down the draft is. The probability of picking Mr. Irrelevant is 0.02% out of pool of 500 Candidates. Why I gave that pick itself if chosen correctly 25 points.
