Why? It can be done without any Physical contact between parties.

as long as all the teams have the same advantages or disadvantages.
I guess also is how much more needs to be known about these players? Are there still critical pieces of information?

i see no need to delay it. Delaying the NFL draft is like delaying HS graduations. All it does is delay kids from moving on to the next chapter in their life for a formality. Just go retro without all the media coverage, bright lights, and red carpet parade of ridiculous outfits.

I don't think it'll make much difference either way.
Besides, at least it's something to look forward to.

A lot of teams were relying on Pro Day and team workouts. Few colleges did have Pro Day , before Covid19. Teams get to know personality and football knowledge. This reminds ( somewhat) of the old days. Relying on film, scouts and college coaches.

Even a pro day can be accomplished with cameras including the all 22 camera.

Theres no logical point. As long as they don't insist that they turn it in to a spectacle. Could be done like it was in the past.

I guess the only question is how tech enabled/stupid are the GM's?
If they can't access files in their offices...because it's 1922...then I can see why this may be hard.

It makes no sense to me.....to delay the draft.
We need diversions more than the league needs their annual spectacle. It can be done just as efficiently, maybe more efficiently on a virtual basis rather than packing people in an arena.
Most importantly, sports fans everywhere are starved for something to take them away from dealing with the virus. The league needs to recognize that. Wouldn't it be great to take our eyes off the regular media reporting the same stuff over and over...….with a change of pace watching the draft developments on our computer screens over a few days?

Considering how badly some GMs draft, maybe knowing less about these players will increase the chance of a more productive draft.

The op is so psyched about his question that he’s screaming for everyone to hear it. WE HEAR YOU!

I would hope they don't delay it, and if it has to be done with nobody there, so be it. It won't stop me from watching it.
The biggest thing missing will be the crowd booing RG every time he steps up to the podium. Lol I'm sure he will be happy about that.

By now they should know who they were going after. They have game tape, they had the Combine. The only thing they are missing is some BS Pro-Days where they can just look at them some more and maybe catch sight of an outlier.
This is when we see what your scouting department is made out of.

I hope the draft goes on time real football fans don't need all the fluff. As long as nobody is really there and they just phone in their picks and they post the names on the board. And you can have talking heads talking from another room somewhere in the country.
As long as it's safe, no players have to be there, we don't need camaras in their living room, just make it safe.
But if the league feels safer delaying it a few weeks or even a month I completely understand. For safety not for the league to make money somehow. It's 1 year, we can do it. People are going to die. We can entertain ourselves a little longer with all our bull shit. We love doing it, though I'm looking as forward to the draft as the rest of you.

Not sure that this is true re: later round picks

This is why the NFL told all teams yesterday to shut down their facilities. Because some teams in certain states had not choice, so they are making it fair for all teams.
My big issue and the medicals. None of these players can be checked out medically, so any college player with a medical concern might get screwed here. But that isn't likely to change in a month anyway.
Also anyone find it funny that "rain" wants a delay?

Why? It can be done without any Physical contact between parties. yes but where is the fun in that? (no physical contact with the young draft choices).

Why? It can be done without any Physical contact between parties. teams like NYG have a full lockdown in their jurisdiction. Not 100% familiar with whats going on in the states but it gives them a competitive disadvantage where the lockdown hasn't occurred yet. Can't bring in prospects and have the docs look at them. But lets see

Diagnoses all can be sent electronically to all the teams Doctors for their review.

I think will also help some talents with injury concerns. No one can check Tua. What if he really is damaged goods? He still isnt getting past 5 because no on can get their doctors to test him out. Also, I feel like its going to be extremely difficult to draft the later round players. Normally this time of year they are looking into them much deeper. The guys drafted 5th 6th 7th round. Now? It's a big question mark.
