So, it's 2018. New hope as Dave Gettleman takes over and fans gush over the QB whisperer Shurmur. Eli Manning debate rages on, despite anybody without those tinted glasses seeing the end is near, and 5 QB's emerge as franchise possibilities. A generational talent edge is there, as well as a gold jacket guard, and a phone that works. However, in this draft, we do a bit of what if fantasy. Yes, Daniel Jones as he played in Duke is also available thus creating 6 talents, same talent level...and so is Mr. Simmons from this year but now thrust into the year...2018 (spooky music cue).
We can now redo it all...who are you taking that year with all these players entering the league?

At the time, I wanted Chubb, Nelson, or trade down. I was tepid on Darnold, didn't trust Rosen's health, and Mayfield was already taken. I didn't think picking a RB at 2 was the right move for us at the time, but I don't need to rehash that. I let go after the pick was made, and really like Saquon.

I was Nelson and trade back,...was not into The Beach Boys, until Darnold impressed in the pro day rain workout. I was in on Josh Allen...despite that college completion %...thought Baker Mayfield was QB 1 You have positional DE value over a LB and RB ...good choice if no QB impressed and thought Eli still had it I have Daniel Jones in the equation...how do you rate him compared to other QB's of 2018? Jones over Barkley? Simmons over Barkley? I understand the Eli forever crowd, and winning now...but when you have a 2 pick, you go QB over any running back or as you say, trade back. Some could say, taking Barkley caused a chain reaction of wrong... might be the best player, but the pick that possibly set this franchise back for a decade? Well, time to get the QB and gold jacket RB some push up front....

I would have taken Nelson that year.

Ah Monday Quarterbacking is so much easier. I voted for Barkley but I overlooked Lamar Jackson. Couldn't change my vote.
As far as our other #1 pick I think Daniel Jones beats out Josh Rosen.
My first choice as far as QB's go in 2018 to me looks like I have a good chance of being correct. Josh Allen QB (Buffalo). Of course most everybody missed on Lamar Jackson.

If we assume we don't know how good the players end up I would still go Saquon. Jones was rated lower than probably all the QBs in 2018 and Quenton at #2 for a guard still gives me pause. Chubb would have probably made better sense given our defensive woes though.
Also, I remember thinking Minkah Fitzpatrick was the best of the draft so I wouldn't have gone for Simmons. I happen to think Okudah is better than Simmons too.

Not Monday morning...just trying to imagine it's 2018 and we have what we had...and we added Simmons and Daniel Jones to the picks. How does Daniel Jones relate to the QB's that year, and if you believe he was the best of the lot, would that pick now be better than a RB?

Yeah agreed on DE over RB I don't believe Jones comes close to that QB class...just seems we have no plan at this time, and if we now have the top RB as the centerpiece and player to build a team around, and a QB the following year that most would have rated behind that entire class....seems to make the most sense to come away with this draft assuring them of the success....tackle center and another tackle to develop. Gettleman must of really thought we could win while rebuilding...or the Eli politics were a strong force.

I don't believe Jones rates very high to the QB's mentioned. to me only a better choice than Rosen. I still think that Barkley would be the top choice except for Lamar Jackson.
Lamar Jacksons season was just monstrous. How could we argue that Jackson looks the best ? Most yds ever rushing by a QB. Well over a 1,000. 36 TD passes leading the league, I believe 10 or less ints. Another 8 or so TD rushing. #1 offense
36 TD passes is the Giants all time record for a season. (Y.A. Tittle) (14 game schedule) This little stat is just for us Giant fans. We still have to show our love.
