Victor Cruz's come along once every 50 years or so. Undrafted guys from Umass who have a magical season. Sorry but if we're banking on lightening striking twice we are in bigger trouble than I thought.
I don't think WR talent is the issue for this team, it is injuries. People acting like we need 6 stud WRs. If we trot out Slayton, Shep and Tate each game we will be fine plus what Engram brings, Kaden Smith is decent and then all Barkley does in the passing game. The issue is Shep, Tate and Engram are all injury risks.
We will see what happens. Other things were more important to fix than WR depth though. Yes it was a deep WR class and when other teams were scooping up WRs they were pushing other talent down the draft board as well.
The Giants never had Engram, Shepard and Tate together for ONE game last year and Jones still had a historic season. I'm not sure people think about that. I don't have alot of reason to believe Engram/Shepard will stay healthy but the decision to go with them was already made. Outside of the first couple rounds there were no receivers that were going to significantly impact this corps in 2020. Striking gold like Slayton doesn't happen every year,

Waddle Smith Ross Chase
One of these guys finishes the offense next year I suppose Smith and Waddle will have Judge having inside info....
Pair one of these guys opposite Slayton..a young growing line, hopefully Barkley isn't burned out in a dead year... *sigh*
And no we won't be bad enough to get Rousseau..he will be the 1st non qb taken next year..
Have to figure out how to be competitive with this group to be relevant

Some of the WR's up to round 3 would've been nice but again, I don't know what I'd change about our premium picks. There must be a plan, I'll wait for the explanation which must be coming soon. You mean the pick we gave up in the trade ? Nope, rather have Leonard Williams...try again.

1.Slayton 2.Tate(old,regressing and expensive) 3.Shepard(one concussion away from retirement 4.Coleman (useless Core is a special teams guy At least 1 UDFA is making this roster if not more and we probably have to go dumpster diving for depth.. Embarrassing that with the deepest WR group in history we completely ignore this while the rest of the league loaded up.. At least with the edge rushers we have 2 young guys that can develop.. We just have Slayton We are running a vertical deep route system...only Slayton fits this mode outside Number 1 need in 2021 is a dynamic deep guy unless we pull a miracle out our ass with an UDFA..luckily its also a deep class Meh Paying for the sins of not building an o line for 12 years really kicks us in the nuts this year...just hope we figure out how to at least be competitive bringing a pea shooter against nuclear arsenals Silly, finding WRs is easy....finding good Offensive linemen is not. I would take the Oline and defensive players all day versus WRS. Just bing in a bunch of Unsigned FA WRs and you will easily find some keepers that will be good enough to win. That is why paying Odell all that money was stupid....NO WR is worth $20M.

That is not good enough, especially with the 30th ranked D. We need to get to top 10 in scoring. We won't do that if these guys aren't healthy. I great if these guys play, if they get hurt I'm a bit worried.
Luckily we have Saquon and what should be an improved OL.

Dont worry. We are giving Daniel Jones the Tom Brady treatment. We dont need any WRs. UDFA period has just begun. I think WRs are slowly becoming a dime a dozen in the NFL. With all the new rules around PI, grabbing etc, as long as the O line can hold up for 3 seconds, someone can get open. Slayton is a prime example. He'll probably be a 1,000+ yrd receiver this year. I know every expert is praising the Cowboys draft, but I have to wonder, does CeeDee Lamb really give them that much more than Randall Cobb did? They are going to run behind Elliot because he's that good. They have Cooper and Gallop who are both top WRs. What does having Lamb really do for them at this point? They could have had a huge array of options in Rd 2 that will most likely equal Lamb's production and had a monster to add to defense in rd 1. It was a savvy pick by Jones. He was far and away the top rated player left and, I think this is the main thing, he forced the Eagles hand. In the way to early hot take department: WR is the presumptive favorite to be #1 need of 2021. Slightly edging out C and pass rush.

it's middle of the pack with a rookie QB and and injured RB. I wouldn't expect much better. But a WR drafted in rounds 3-6 of this draft wasn't replacing anyone in the lineup this year.

I actually think we can have a very good offense with Barkley healthy, Jones on year 2, Tate, Engram and Shep all healthy. It's also a logical concern that if those guys get hurt we could be in trouble. My worry isn't our talent, it's our health. I think the Dillon kid could be good for us too.

I can't wait to hear the explanation from the Giants about what we plan to do now at the position. These 7th rounder might not make the team, I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants look to add another veteran receiver between now and August.

They may not be all-pro, but they will suffice. The offense is built around Barkley and short passes...just like the Pats. There is no need for an overpriced WR.

For this kid to be crowned the "new center" is just a pipe dream at this point All 52 of his starts were at LG. 3,600 snaps in college at LG

FWIW here are the crumbs left at WR *gags* nfltraderumors.co/2020-nfl-free-agent-list/And what sucks is we can't work any of these guys out till training camp Only guys I'm interested in is Gabriel and Austin... If we had Minichamps I'd bring in Ginn to see if he has anything left just to get rid of Coleman...at least Ginn fits what Garrett wants to do in the passing game with vertical and produces.

I'm not handing him the job outright nor will Judge, and if he does then probably Zeitler makes the protection calls this year as he is on the team and has the playbook(many times the vet makes protection calls when a rookie is in at C)

The clip below is from 2/2020. The kid is tough as nails, a student of the game, and plays banged up. I dig him. But this whole center thing is a totally fresh idea. Even in his HS eval he was an OT and Gaurd. No center. Lemieux also has been working for the first time at snapping the ball and playing center, albeit in a closed environment without an opposing defender lined up across from him.
