For the right price, seriously why not?
Our draft was great, and we already had players at "talent" positions on offense (w/ QB an unknown), now they have an Oline to go with it.
With Jones a big unknown, why not bring in Newton, just make it clear it's an open competition.

Sigh … thought that we would have at least a 24-hr window of nice post-draft discussions before the troll posts started ...

The worst message you can send your young QB is . We have no faith in you.

If he doesnt work out Id hate to see us lose our window of opportunity, given how difficult it is to get all these pieces together at the same time.

This team is hardly one player away, there is no window of opportunity right now. Even if there was, I don't see why the Giants would choose to downgrade the QB position, even if only for the short term. Given the option I'd prefer to watch Jones develop with the team than watch Newton pad his retirement account.

I say let’s do it. Jones will play on even downs and Cam on odd. If the opposition isn’t laughing at us by the 2nd half then it’s a waste.

I'll bet Jerry Jones wishes he didn't give Dak that big contract.
He could have signed Cam Newton for a discount.

Newton has always rubbed me the wrong way. Not "Giant Culture" material. I'd prefer a Fig Newton.

24 TDs, couple hundred yrds rushing an unknown?? Really? 1. Cam Newton should never darken our doorstep. 2. The future of Daniel Jones as an NFL QB is still a huge unknown.

if Cam is willing to sign with us and the deal is affordable, why not.. Yeah, the guy can play for sure IF healthy. It's a big "IF" because that kind of foot injury can be nasty. But that's why he can also be gotten on very friendly terms.

But that's why he can also be gotten on very friendly terms. He lost his starting job in Carolina and I think the issue is that he still wants to be a starter. There just doesn't seem to be a market there for him. He'd be a solid backup but that doesn't seem to be where he's at so there's really nothing more to discuss. He may just wait and see if a starter get knocked out for the season early on and maybe he can catch on with that team. For better or for worse your reputation in the league is built on what you show on the field. Leading the best team in the league on the biggest stage of all he came up tiny. What does that say for the chances of teams that aren't clearly the best team in the league? Until he is able to reconcile his actual value to his perceived value, he likely isn't signing anywhere.

Your previous post suggested otherwise. Hmmm okay lets split this atom....
Most QBs in thier 2nd season are unknown relative to how good they are ultimately going to be. My initial post response was that based on his rookie year he has proven that he can compete and succeed on the pro level (24 TDs, 12 int, 3k yards, 87.7 rating) and that is known. Take into consideration he was injured for a few games, ran for a couple TDs. had a terrible OL and one can come to the conclusion that he had a good rookie season, despite the hindrances.. Of course one can counter conclude that it was a terrible season or conclude that the stats don't really count, or it wasn't 'good enough' or.... (fill in the blank). Since he is an unknown (not good enough) then we have to keep searching for a replacement.. Of course I regard (conclude) that as utter nonsense..
