Your previous post suggested otherwise. Hmmm okay lets split this atom....
Most QBs in thier 2nd season are unknown relative to how good they are ultimately going to be. My initial post response was that based on his rookie year he has proven that he can compete and succeed on the pro level (24 TDs, 12 int, 3k yards, 87.7 rating) and that is known. Take into consideration he was injured for a few games, ran for a couple TDs. had a terrible OL and one can come to the conclusion that he had a good rookie season, despite the hindrances.. Of course one can counter conclude that it was a terrible season or conclude that the stats don't really count, or it wasn't 'good enough' or.... (fill in the blank). Since he is an unknown (not good enough) then we have to keep searching for a replacement.. Of course I regard (conclude) that as utter nonsense..
The "unknown" is his pocket awareness....which is dreadful. He has no idea when or where the pass rush is. That's why he fumbled so much in my view.
That is a huge question.

Sigh … thought that we would have at least a 24-hr window of nice post-draft discussions before the troll posts started ... your post is a troll post, you offer no real feedback, just a jab. At least he has his own opinion. Sigh is right.

At least he has his own opinion. Sigh is right. My feedback is that his opinion is so stupid that no person could actually have that opinion, meaning that it was just put out there to rile people up (hence, a troll post). My apologies if that wasn’t clear.

This is a really poor thread to be even discussing Jones' issues. That being said, he seemed to also have poor control of the football while scampering, and it appeared Shurmur became somewhat afraid to have him move around more from the pocket. There's still a lot to work on.

Regarding the criticism about DJ brought on by the stupid troll post. News Flash - if you are concerned about the fact that DJ still has aspects of his game to work on get over it. With our offensive line how the hell is a rookie supposed to look polished with pocket awareness? That is a ignorant criticism. The kid gets baptized in the NFL behind our OL with average receivers at best, with a RB that can’t get any running room - again OL.
Being concerned about fumbles and pocket awareness in year two three I get it. But from his rookie season with the circumstances he was thrown into is just pure silly - that’s a nice word for ignorant.
Daniel Jones is a talented athletic smart QB with a great arm and accuracy. He is tough as they come and given the right support cast will take us to the playoffs and beyond.
Some posters need to get off their nitpicking high horses.

why have a QB as a back up that would possibly give the Org a reason to give the hook to your young potential franchise QB

For the right price, seriously why not? Our draft was great, and we already had players at "talent" positions on offense (w/ QB an unknown), now they have an Oline to go with it. With Jones a big unknown, why not bring in Newton, just make it clear it's an open competition. OMG this is the 2nd stupid thread I have read from you in the last 3 minutes. There has to be a limit Mods

No, I would not. The last thing Jones needs is a former league MVP QB looking over his shoulder.

Yeah, the guy can play for sure IF healthy. It's a big "IF" because that kind of foot injury can be nasty. But that's why he can also be gotten on very friendly terms. He lost his starting job in Carolina and I think the issue is that he still wants to be a starter. There just doesn't seem to be a market there for him. He'd be a solid backup but that doesn't seem to be where he's at so there's really nothing more to discuss. He may just wait and see if a starter get knocked out for the season early on and maybe he can catch on with that team. For better or for worse your reputation in the league is built on what you show on the field. Leading the best team in the league on the biggest stage of all he came up tiny. What does that say for the chances of teams that aren't clearly the best team in the league? Until he is able to reconcile his actual value to his perceived value, he likely isn't signing anywhere. He's a great athlete but his style of run-first QB doesn't last long in the NFL. The fact he has lasted this long is a tribute to how tough he is. L. Jackson is another RG III. Owners and coaches will take advantage while they are healthy, and dump them as soon as they get seriously hurt. Which is inevitable.
