Probably come up before and I know Jerry Jones wanted to be in the East but this seems dumb to me. It also puts Dallas at a competitive disadvantage due to 3 long trips to the NE ever season. I'm personally sick of it. Generally Dallas gets 2 winter games ... Philthy and in NJ. It was switched this year but the last 5 years Dallas played late season games in both seasons. Still play NY last game (as y'all know). Dallas is essentially a warm winter climate. No disadvantage for the NFCE teams coming to the air conditioned Death Star other than the once a year trip. Dallas, NO, Atlanta, TB. The NFC South. The East gets Carolina. thelandryhat.com/2020/05/14/dallas-cowboys-wrong-division-disadvantage/How would Giant fans feel if Dallas was in new division via realignment?

Makes no sense nowadays.

It's wacky that Dallas is in the East. Makes no sense nowadays. Hell, Arizona used to be in the NFC East. Made even less sense, although they did move from St Louis

Why aren't the Rams and the 49ers in the East?
And why shouldn't the Pats be in the West?
Who defines East and West?
If you live in England the Pats are in the West.
To the Chinese every team is in the East.

Don't use common sense your right, but it has nothing to do with what the owners want. When Dallas came into the league they put Minnesota in the west and Dallas in the east in 1960. You can go back decades and see the hypocrisy. The Baltimore Colts played in the western division. That's because they originally came from Dallas. You would think Buffalo would play in the AFC North and the Ravens in the AFC East.
The regional titles are just titles. The league went through this when we realigned the league to 4 divisions in each conference.
Years ago Jerry Jones wanted to be in 3 of the biggest markets NY, Philly, and Wash. Somehow he's still making more money being in the NFC East. He's the one who doesn't want out. Now it's just so matter of fact nobody questions it anymore. You would think it's more of a disadvantage for Dallas coming east 3 times a year and each other team only going west once a year. For the other 3 teams the travel to play the rest of the division is a 40 minute plane ride.

I think the NFL likes the rivalry between the Cowboys and the other 3 NFC East teams. While it's certainly not logical, the established rivalries supersede it.

Wiki has this to say about the Colts: "The organization began play in 1953 as the Baltimore Colts with the team located in Baltimore, Maryland; it relocated to Indianapolis following the 1983 season. Carroll Rosenbloom brought an NFL franchise to Baltimore in 1953 and owned the team until 1972 when he traded the franchise to Robert Irsay."I know the KC Chiefs started in Dallas as the Dallas Texans. Upon further review I found this article stating that the team originally known as the Dallas Texans (1952) didn't even complete a single season and moved to Pa. and Ohio and then folded at the end of the season. Its assets were then given to a new franchise in Baltimore ... the Colts. Interesting history for this old phart to learn. Thanks. From Wiki : "The Dallas Texans played in the National Football League (NFL) for one season, 1952, with a record of 1–11. The team is considered one of the worst teams in NFL history, both on (lowest franchise winning percentage)[1] and off the field. The team was based first in Dallas, then Hershey, Pennsylvania, and Akron, Ohio, during its only season. As of 2020, they are the last NFL team to fold. After the team ceased operations, the league awarded its holdings to the new Baltimore Colts. The American Football League (AFL) had a 1960 charter member named the Dallas Texans (who later became the Kansas City Chiefs), but the AFL Texans had no relationship with the earlier NFL team."en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dallas_Texans_(NFL)

Swapping Dallas and Caroilina does not fix The Ravens an ( eastern team) from playing in the the central division or Indy a central team from playing in the south.
(Ravens AFC Central) to the NFC East (Dallas NFC East) to the NFC South (Any NFC South team except Tampa) to the AFC South. (Indy AFC South) to the AFC Central.
Without ripping apart each division and starting from scratch. IMO: this alignment is more geographically inline. It keeps Dallas and Houston out of the AFC south (together) as well as JV, Tampa and Miami also out of the AFC south (together.)

I was too young to remember the team when they played in that season. but of course I was growing up and do remember the Baltimore Colts since 1957. I was 10 years old. And I certainly remember the AFL and the Dallas Texans.
Heck they just won a SB last year under their new name.
