www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29185936/bills-lineman-ed-oliver-arrested-dwi-gun-chargesBills lineman Ed Oliver arrested on DWI, gun charges. Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Ed Oliver was arrested Saturday night in his hometown of Houston on charges of driving while intoxicated and unlawfully carrying a weapon. Oliver is being held at Montgomery County Jail after being pulled over on State Highway 242. Both charges are misdemeanors, according to the jail's website. he 22-year-old Oliver had an open beer between his legs and was determined to be impaired after a field sobriety test.
The officer who administered the test noted that Oliver may have been impaired by something other than alcohol, and police discovered a pistol in Oliver's vehicle, according to the report. No drugs were found .
Police were alerted to Oliver's driving by a 911 call from another motorist, who reported a Ford Super Duty pickup hauling a trailer with a dune buggy on it through a 45 mph construction zone on State Highway 242, according to MontgomeryCountyPoliceReporter.com. The 911 caller noted that Oliver was "failing to maintain a lane and driving dangerously," according to the report.
Oliver underwent a mandatory blood draw before being transported to the jail.
"We are aware of the situation and we are gathering more information," said the Bills via statement. "We will have no further comment at this point."
The 6-foot-1, 287-pound Oliver was the ninth overall selection in last year's draft and had an immediate impact for the Bills, recording 43 tackles and five sacks last season as a rookie.
Stupid is the gift that keeps on giving.

This is 3 2019 1st round picks arrested this year....
QW is as ****ed as Baker is in that his offense is a mandatory jail sentence being that it happened in an airport
Doesn't Plax do a yearly seminar on weapons and gun laws or something?
Players not being in a structured environment at team facilities isn't working out so well

1) drunk and some other influence
2) open container between his legs while actually driving and obviously didn't think to move it when he was pulled over!!
3) AND unlawfully carrying a weapon in his car while drinking and drunk!!!
Having an unlawful weapon while driving drunk and actively drinking is only a ****ing misdemeanor??!!

Having an unlawful weapon while driving drunk and actively drinking is only a ****ing misdemeanor??!! Texas’d I don’t condone drinking and driving. But most of us here are from cities and burbs. My wife’s family (everyone. Aunts, uncles, grandma) doesn’t drive anywhere without a beer in NH. It’s just kinda different outside the megalopolis of the 95 corridor where we’re all from. Gun in the car of a Texas boy? Also not really surprising. Not moving his beer when he was pulled over....means to me he wasn’t just having a roadie or a road soda, he was drinking all day out in the woods with his buggy. That’s not kosher to me, no matter where you’re at.

Why have any gun laws then?

Ohhhh man I missed the “unlawful” part. I kinda assumed everyone in Texas had a registered firearm.
You’re right. That’s not good, and how could that only be a misdemeanor?
