Watching NFL channel today and Shaun O'Hara Says the Giants should sign Everson Griffen a FA from the Vikings. He's listed as a DE but from the highlights he played standing up on the outside #97. He's had 74.5 sacks since 2011. O'Hara says he has lots of football in him. He's listed as the 3rd top FA available by NFL channel after Cam Newton and Jadeveon Clowney.
I don't know him. What do you think ? Would he help ? If he gives us 2-3 years I think it would be great. The defense should definitely be stronger with him. Pass rush and tough vs run. A big guy. Haven't heard any talk about him apparently respected around the league and a real good teammate they said.
Any thoughts ?

I don't know - the descriptions of him I've read make it sound like he would be used the way Golden was last year. I wonder if having him on board would get in the way of the younger guys developing. Of course, could take the attitude that, if we sign him to a reasonable deal, he keeps them on the bench only if they let him. I haven't watched him so can't say from my own knowledge. I vaguely recall that he graded out better than Golden as a pass-rusher even though he didn't have as many sacks.

how do we even know what the system is at this point, this guy could be a good fit here.. We are going to be a 3/4 based defense that is a bit flexible with personal that are versatile.. Griffen is a pure square peg 4/3 DE that you have to play a base 4/3 in... Meaning he needs a square peg type system... Bad fit

Also, the coaching staff has resisted saying 3-4, preferring "multiple" as a label, so, if he wasn't too expensive, they may be willing to bring him in expecting to only use him on 55 to 65% of the snaps. I really have no idea, just trying to understand where OP and media are coming from.

Griffin is not versatile at all

I don't know this player either was wondering if some of the guys on the board knew him and just what they thought.
I'm just kicking anything that sounds like a pass rush. Hoping something shakes loose. Just hope and wishful thinking, I just once again don't like what the pass rush looks like.
