I'm talking about being strapped up, heart pounding, on the field with other savages ready to take your head off.. for fun.
Throughout HS I played safety and corner (mostly safety) and loved every second of it. It's hard to put into words seeing complete chaos at the snap, making the right read, then making a play. It's beautiful. Seeing your LB get pancaked and having both the Guard and RB coming towards you... not so beautiful lol
I remember being so hyped up playing in my first HS game. During the first series everything played out in snapshots. Everytime I blinked it was like my brain took a picture and stored it, I guess you can say my frame rate was really low. I'll never forget that though.
I played up until my freshman year in college. Signed up to walk on at Georgia Southern and made it to through the summer workouts. Unfortunately I tore my ACL running scout team offense lined up at WR attempting a double move. It sucks but I believe everything in life happens for a reason. I decided to hang it up after 10 months of recovery but i still love the game the same as I did back then.

Went through it my self a couple years ago a serious neck injury getting ready for a power lifting show at this age the recovery hasn't been easy but I still get my lifts in. never be the same tho. Believe it or not even at this age I felt I could always push through and get more out of myself some time the body just says enough is enough.

Best WR in the 8th grade. Too bad every play was a run and we threw maybe once or twice a game. Then I discovered guitar, music, drugs and decided I had enough of coaches screaming at me and showering with dudes... Amen.

I was a very good 5 tool baseball player and played hard ball until I was 20. The HS football coach wanted me to play RB and SS. I declined. Def a "mild" regret I have. I did play tons of "sandlot" tackle football. Even won an MVP Trophy at the annual day after Thanksgiving Day game!!!

Chose water polo over football my senior year. I was a High School All American Swimmer and First Team All State Water Polo player.

Was starting defensive end varsity my whole time in high school. Was accepted full ride to FSU, Miami, University of Florida to name a few. No joke, when I did my 40 at the end of my senior year I was clocked at 4.3 at 200lbs.. Unfortunately, I tore my labrum, had a bad hip pointer, and my other shoulder had been separated. All injuries from outside of football.
Never got the surgeries, and went to College and got my degree. Never played football.. I always thought "what if" I still do to this day. But, life works in mysterious ways.. Can't dwell on the past.

Played Linebacker in HS but was undersized. I was going to try and move to safety the following season but my bad grades said otherwise. Never made it back for my Senior year. Shame shame.

Played youth football all the way through HS. I was a two way starter soph-senior years. Played rb and wr on offense, corner and fs on defense. I was also our kick returner. Unfortunately for me I came up in a time that didn’t bode well for short guys, no matter how good you were lol. If I had played in this day and age I probably could have played college Football somewhere. I did play college baseball though so I had that going for me. I can’t tell you how many concussions I must have had football wise. The test back then was how many fingers do you see?, literally. I also played lacrosse, hockey, and I skateboarded and raced bmx. This thread brought back good memories, thank you friend!

I played football, baseball and basketball from youth and HS. Did baseball/football in college. RB/DB/K in HS. RB all throughout youth league. They were probably the best days. Youth football games. There was just something pure and fun about them.

I was more of a baseball guy. I played left out... In all seriousness, i played peewee and youth football with the Bronx Roadrunners that used to practice by the old Yankee stadium. No High school football because I went to a specialized High school in NYC for math and science. It was in the bronx...hint hint. I chose academics over sports because I knew those big guys couldn't out run my brain

That guy would have thirty 12 year olds ready to go to war. I’ll never forget my first big run for a td playing for the 105’s. It literally felt like I had won the kid lottery. Then we ate like 5 hot dogs each, snow cones and Swedish fish😍. Great times.

Played in H.S. WR and DB both corner and safety. Played baseball and was on the wrestling team also. Then joined the Marines. What I lacked in size 5'9" 158-162 lbs. I made up in speed and could leap pretty high. High jumped 5' even. Used to run like the wind now I'm lucky I can get out of bed and make it through the day.

Back in the day I could run through a wall, now I’m looking for a door. The only thing now that doesn’t hurt is my eye lids. Relaxing used to be done when I was tired. Now, it’s a hobby.

Was QB and LLB in HS. Had college scouts watching my games but that all dried up when I dislocated my shoulder early in senior year season and was done for the year. And, btw... I'll be 74 soon, and I challenge anyone here to a football throw for distance, before a Giant game in the parking lot... we'll meet at Kase's.... just give me a half hour to warm up, and we're on. Also, btw... I haven't thrown a ball in over 15 years, but I'm good for at least one. Who's game?

Only thing is, my arm will go with the football. My right shoulder has been separated so many times it hangs by a thread now. My birthday is this Saturday. Everyone is asking me what do I want? And I keep telling them, the winning numbers to the lottery.

I figure I'm good for at least 50 yds at this age.. I threw over 70 in HS. Threw a softball over 100 yds. I'm willing to throw one and throw the arm out just because I'm curious as hell to see what I can do now, and recapture some of the thrill like I had in HS. I have 3 tickets this year... one preseason and 2 regular season... we'll see if we can hook up and meet at Kase's spot. We can warm up together... should be a gas to just throw one.

My left, too... has a 10" scar from the dislocation... that was back in '63. Today it would be micro and I'd have a couple of holes instead of the 10" one I have now. If you're game we'll see if we can put it together. Just one throw. is all we should need, lol.

Your scar is old enough to collect social security. Yeah, surgeries back then were tough, a simple operation was done with a chainsaw. It’s like that scene in Jaws where Hooper and Quint are showing their scars. We should definitely do it, I know I’ll regret it as soon as I follow through with the football. Nothing a few beers and a handful of painkillers can’t fix. From your previous post, 70 yards is very impressive. That’s NFL quarterback strength, you must of had an arm on you. You had to have broken some wide receivers fingers back in high school with an arm like that.

You had to have broken some wide receivers fingers back in high school with an arm like that. That was my problem... throwing bullets when the receiver was 10 yds away. Worked in the summer before my senior year to get some good touch, anfd then the shoulder separated on a bad tackle I made. College scouts there early on because they knew how far I could throw, and how fast I was... 10.3 in the 100 yds.... averaged nearly 20 a game my junior year. Had the HS records for football throw, 72 yds, and softball throw over 308'. Never had a baseball measured but I'd say I was good for at least 380'. A fun time, and 57 years ago. A good memory. I just want an excuse to throw one more.
