lol... NO... that's Moerhead's spot in MT., and he ain't coming east for a game. My age intimidated him. LOL, I thought he had the Giants going west to play . Oh, yeah... I forgot. Actually, he has room for an entire stadium in his back yard.

Played from 5 years old all the way through HS. Was recruited to a few D2 schools but chose to forego playing to attend a better academic school.
I played CB and WR but was recruited as a SS.

My left, too... has a 10" scar from the dislocation... that was back in '63. Today it would be micro and I'd have a couple of holes instead of the 10" one I have now. If you're game we'll see if we can put it together. Just one throw. is all we should need, lol. Your scar is old enough to collect social security. Yeah, surgeries back then were tough, a simple operation was done with a chainsaw. It’s like that scene in Jaws where Hooper and Quint are showing their scars. We should definitely do it, I know I’ll regret it as soon as I follow through with the football. Nothing a few beers and a handful of painkillers can’t fix. From your previous post, 70 yards is very impressive. That’s NFL quarterback strength, you must of had an arm on you. You had to have broken some wide receivers fingers back in high school with an arm like that. We were throwing a ball around at lunch break quite some time ago, some older truck driver stopped and asked if he could give it a go. Said he used to be a college QB, which of course we all rolled our eyes to heard that one before. Every throw he made you could actually hear, as it zipped through our hands uncaught.

Marine Corps for my unit (3rd LAR) in 29 Palms. I played OLB and TE. Tried my hand at Safety and hated it because you have to run way too much and see way too much.

Quite a few guys here who played both sides of the ball at some level. It would likely never happen, but I'd love to see how it would be back in the NFL. I realize some aspects of play might be diminished, but I'd appreciate the players themselves more.

A lot of good athletes out here! I decided not to play football in high school since I didn't care for the players attitudes so I focused on bowling. I was able to become good enough to tour in the 90s making the TV show 3 times with a top finish of 2nd for my effort. When the money started going down hill I got out in 97. I did joined the PBA again this year to bowl a few stops but the pandemic put an end to that for this year..
I did have some memorable pick up games even after high school..

Yeah I played! I was a Gaurd and nose tackle on high school. I played one semester in college. I was a biochem major and class would start at the same time that practice ended so I would have to sprint home shower and run back to class and hope I was only a half hour late. It just wasn't going to work long term.

Does it count if someone was counting steamboats in front of the QB? I always thought that if I had played I’d be more educated watching games today.

Wr Kinda a proto slot type WR as I was too small to play outside, was really good with the ball in my hands but too small for RB...ran good routes.. Shattered my collarbone scoring the GW TD in my school's first playoff game in 15 years and that was that ..

Was a QB in both HS and College. 3 year starter for both .. tons of great memories . Had a few concussions but somehow avoided any orthopedic injuries .

I was a punter and place kicker in high school and played varsity for 2.5 years. I was even Will Allen's teammate. He was such a dick. Not to me, but to several others. I had a few offers from some small schools because I was a way better baseball player since I played varsity for 3 years, but chose to enlist in the Navy instead.

Varsity all 4 years in HS. I played every oline and dline spot plus every special team throughout HS. Never came off the field and LOVED it. A little TE one season. Senior year exclusively LT and outside DT with occasional nose guard duty. Got recruited by a few D1 schools (dream was to play for Penn State) but I blew out BOTH knees multiple times my Jr year. Kept playing on them but a future in football was over for me. Basketball and track for fun but football was my everything at that point in my life. I swam competitively in college.
My son is 16. He plays baseball as a Pitcher, SS and 3rd baseman. Threw a complete game no hitter this weekend! Walked 2 or he would have had a perfect game! 5 hits (two doubles), 3 walks, 2 hit by pitches and 2 SOs! Good weekend of basebal!

Played for the powerhouse Golden Bears of Western NE College. Any Chance you guys were in or played the Yankee Conference in 1974? Ok not in it but like we did, we played many of their Freshman or JV teams, U Maine , U Mass were on our schedule. I honestly can't remember the name of our conference. Southern CT, Eastern CT., A.I.C., Roger Williams Coll. were all in our division. Strictly division 3.
"Powerhouse" was an attempt at sarcasm. And I played in 77 as a freshman, then left WNEC and went to broadcasting school.

Played football pee wee through high school. Funny story is if I had it my way I might have never played. Moved and missed football sign ups in 3rd grade, played soccer instead and loved it. I was a machine too, I don’t know how many goals I scored but it was a lot. The next year when sign ups came I was amped up to play again. My dad said NFW. You will sign up for football( as most know in NYS football and soccer are both fall sports). Never played soccer again. It’s all good, I liked football. However, if the 3 sports I lettered in I enjoyed it the least(football, basketball, baseball).

Played "both ways" in HS but D line was my stand out position. Like the others, incredible memories. As freshmen the Varsity coach (also the football/athletic director) thought it was fun to have the Seniors indoctrinate the "frosh" by being the tacklers(we were the tackling dummies). I had the good fortune to get tackled by Scott Virkus, who played college ball at Purdue and was drafted by the Colts in 1980. He played Pro about 5 yrs as a TE for the Colts and the Bills. I had excellent seasons in my Jr and Senior years at DT, and despite tearing up my knee and missing half my senior season I did get a scholarship offer from Marist college. I did not take advantage of it due to a family crisis but have no regrets as I have been a a business owners since my early 20s. Great thread guys.

I played DB/TE in highschool although I think I was too small to play TE. Didn't really start growing until after graduation. I also coached my sons peewee team to an undefeated season, there were some good kids on that team. We were one of the other teams with the ability to complete a pass haha. 8-0-1

No. The tie was actually in the first game of the season that I had to miss because of the military haha. The league coaches had a thing where they would ask once a game to let a kid on their team score though. I never used that for my team and very few kids didn't score (my son being one of them). Kids work harder if they know you are not going to let them score.

Now there is a place for things when it involves disabilities and such. But the average kid is better served knowing he earned paydirt. Here’s a newsflash, stop expecting people to hand stuff to you. That’s cool your team excelled and did it minus handouts.

That’s cool your team excelled and did it minus handouts. Yeah it was a good feeling knowing these boys earned everything they got that season. There was no worse feeling than going back to my huddle after the coaches asked for a free score and telling my kids "ok guys we have to let this kid score". I was truly baffled at the lesson being taught to all the kids on the field. I agree with you, if a kid has a disability or something I would be 100% behind such a thing but letting a kid that's not that good score is not teaching him to get better. My son didn't score and still had a great time and even some highlight runs.
It was pretty funny when the other coach would ask for it and then try to feel better and say to me "we can let one of your guys score too" and everytime I'd look at them and just say "no, we don't need it" and walk off. I retired from coaching after that season lol. I am hoping in a few years when he gets to highschool I will have time to get back into it.

I saw people just chilling at their lockers but they area gets crowded at lunch. I was a big dude with w big backpack so people knew better then to mess with me but the other late kids in the class, I understand the struggle. College was tough to make in time for a different reasons. My freshman roommate would put the "sock" on my room every single time I needed to regroup for my class. That's in addition to the football stuff I couldn't do that long term. The team was good too I would not be a legit starter anyway.

Began playing smack mouth football back in the 70's...police athletic league on Long Island.
PAL
OJ Simpson was my idol.
They called me white lightning, and that name stuck throughout all my years playing.
I used to fall asleep in meetings....had a method.
