Impressive player. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and is able to stay healthy.

Might want to aim higher than "Blackburn on steroids " for standards. Blackburn was a barely functional player that stabilized the defense late 2011 and lucked out that Gronk was maybe 60% at best in the Super Bowl.. I actually see a Bruchi/Vrabel type player that always finds his way to the ball and makes the play
With that said on paper this group has a chance to be a blue collar type that plays really well behind our front 3 and for once have depth

If he recovered fully . It usually takes 2 years to get back to +90% after an ACL. Without use of the Giants facility and trainers this offseason makes it that much harder to get back to game speed.

He probably was recovering and training on his own or with a trainer during the lockd0wn And he would have been rehabbing and not practicing anyway during the OTAs.. I think he will be OK this year and we see he huge spike in play 2021

This is only 4 games of tape....as a ROOKIE Connelly is chase Blackburn on steroids Mayo doesn't see playing time unless there is an injury. I hope Connelly is much better than what Blackburn brought to the field. Until they can get a LB that can handle the TE and RB out in the passing patterns then they will not be complete or great. I was excited to see Connelly get after plays so I'll be looking forward to that again and maybe he's the one who can handle the passing game..

Connelly’s rehab has been altered with the quarantine. Even if he did make it back in time for camp, he’d have 2 weeks to prove his knee was ready to go a whole season. Any set backs and he’ll end up in IR again. There’s a reason the Giants brought in so much competition at the position.
I think the LB’s are getting better but I’m not sure Connelly will be a part of it.

I wish we had drafted his college team mate Zack Baun to pair with him while he recovers.

Have to give credit to a member here. He called it with Connelly. Before anyone did matter of fact, he said Connelly would be a good player. And before injury he was becoming our best defender.
What’s his name you ask? That’s not important. He likes to remain in the shadows..

Funny how we have so many more highly drafted LB than Connelly. Then he shows up and your eyes are immediately draw to him. If fully recovered, he has the stuff to be a very good one. imo Of course, not LT, HC, BVP, Banks but maybe an updated Reasons or Kelly??

I don't think Mayo will be anything more than a quality back up and spot starter. Connelly was really starting to come on when he got hurt. If he come get back to complete health I think he's going to be really good.

I had a long post all written out, but this cuts to it very well. There’s a good foundation here, with guys I am going to enjoy rooting for.

I wonder if the lack of pressure to get in the field allowed Connely a more full rehab that may lead to better results.

we won't draft a top tier LB until we fall out of the top 15-20 picks

This is only 4 games of tape....as a ROOKIE Connelly is chase Blackburn on steroids Connelly had a few impressive starts. Far from anything that warrants a solidification at the position. The type of injury he sustaiined is serious and probably won't be the same, not saying he still can't be an incredible player, the jury is still out. The other two are serviceable at best. IMO the position is nowhere near greatness or even trending that way.

Mayo is more of a depth player than a stater. He is not a impact player.
