I am truly starting to have my doubts. I have no idea how it's going to work. If a team has a player or players come down with the virus...what will they do? Wouldn't the team have to quarantine? This isn't golf. This is a game where you get in each other's faces. We will get an idea I guess with the glorified exhibition season that baseball is proposing, or the "bubble method" that the NBA will try. But football? That's a different animal.
I can see infections running rampant around the league. I can see entire teams being unable to take the field.
Maybe someone can make a good argument as to how this will work.

Think full body condoms, like Pricilla Presley and Leslie Nielson wore in Naked Gun II... In all seriousness, I have no idea how they will handle it, and agree that it may very well wreak havok on one or more teams. Assuming they do play, I'll be surprised if it's only limited to one team.

And what about these coaches and training staff that have members 60-70+ years of age? I last put my sports percentage at 5%. I think with all the "scheduling" I will bump it to 7%, but if they do play it wont be long. Some MLBers and NBAers are already backing out of the season. As for the NFL specifically, without the proper training camps and preseason, and more than likely another surge end of summer/fall, I dont see it as a full season. I mean, what happens when your QB1 gets it, and was as practicing with the QB2 and QB3? All 3 have to be quarantined for 14 days.

But the more I think about it, the more I'm having difficulty seeing how it's going to work.

COVID-19 antibodies may fade in as little as 2 months, study saysThe study's authors say their results caution against "immunity passports."As the world grapples with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a new studysuggests that antibodies -- the proteins produced by the immune system that can grant protection against reinfection -- may fade in as little as two months after infection in certain people who have recovered from the virus. The study was conducted in China and published in Nature Medicine.

Had my physical the other day...Doc was telling me that while it looks like having the virus gives you immunity, the unknown thing is for how long? He said some novel virus's have immunity life as short at 40 days.

I also heard that there was rumors of college coaches of asking the team to infect itself with covid 19 and treat the whole team at once. The thinking being young strong athletes in top condition very little risk. And then your done with it. Of course never happen can you just imagine the law suits to the college that does this ?
Heard today the NFL was talking 2 game pre season and the players don't want any pre season games. Don't want to risk covid in games that don't count. Possibly reducing squads from 90 to 75. Don't know how players are going to make a team. Owners don't split profits from pre season games with the union. Ya think that could be a stumbling block ?
More to come

As much as I hate to say it......I don't believe there will be an NFL season this year. Sadly, that is likely the best decision based on the new surge in cases. When flu season hits, we are going to be in for a whole new lock down experience. There should have been a nation wide policy to deal with the spread. Instead, where I live in FL, it was as if everyone was immune and no one had to wear a mask or social distance. Now look at us. My next door neighbor has it and they have 2 small children.
It is past time to start taking this a lot more seriously than we have. I'm in the middle of a home renovation so I'm at Home Depot at least twice a day. I am compromised so I wear a mask and have always worn it since this all started. But I was one of the few. Now there is no choice. Only 6 months too late.

It's very hard to for me to imagine every player, on every team practicing social distancing and wearing a mask every time. One player will start a chain reaction across his entire team.

I am starting to think that there won't be a season. They have already canceled 3 weeks worth of preseason games (HOF game included) and the HOF ceremony. I also am in the camp of not wanting any of these sports being played in 2020. Yes, that includes my favorite sport of baseball.

There are two factors to the surge in my view.
1. Far more testing. 2. Opening up the economy
You think there will. be a new lockdown? I completely disagree. Americans will go back to their lives but do it with more precautions. Yes the hospitality industry will get killed by it, but in general Americans will not be locked in their houses ever again. All that did was postpone the inevitable. The virus is with us and we are going to have to live with it.
The REAL mortality rate is less than 1%. Far less actually. The antibody testing has shown that there have been at least 10 times the cases than the confirmed total. There have probably been 30M+ cases in reality.
WE are going to realize that we CAN live with this virus until we reach herd immunity or a vaccine is available.

Yup. The PGA just changed their policy because peeps often test positive once and then negative several times after. Now if you have negative tests after a positive you don't have to quarantine. With the NFL, they are going to have to come to terms with symptomless spreading and false positives. It's just going to happen. And keep those peeps from spreading it outside the organization and to vulnerable people. I don't know if that will work politically, but the NFL isn't going to work without it, IMO.

Well I thought I'd bring this back.
I think this season is in deep trouble. Titans...Cam Newton. Seems this might just be the beginning. They can only reschedule so many games before they have to start cancelling games. They may even try to suspend games for several weeks and reassess.
I think there is a real chance, probably better than even money, that they aren't getting through this season.

Although, MLB is still playing in the postseason, just not your team.
