That’s who I was thinking too. He’s got money in the bank, a child who is recovering from cancer. Perfect opportunity to be with his family.

It is probably the right decision for him. I understand and totally support it. His priorities are set properly, family first.

Yeah probably Nate Soldier if I were to guess.
Wonder what this does to OL. Thomas at LT and Fleming at RT week 1 would look like a lock.

Your first opponent is TJ Watt followed by Khalil Mack the following week. Not sure Judge and staff want to throw the kid into the fire that quick.

Might not have any other option. There’s always options. You can put Cam Fleming at the left tackle spot. He’s started 26 games in this league, and Thomas at right. Any other season you can throw the kid into it and let him learn as he goes. But with training camp and preseason basically being nonexistent. It will be a daunting task for the young man. I didn’t even mention he would be blocking the blind side of a QB who gives the football away like Halloween candy.

Probably Flemming at LT as it seemw Thomas has been working at RT (as best as one can under these circumstances) Maybe mid-season switch up and also maybe opens up an opportunity for Peart to pressure for a starting job

I hope he has a short memory because Watt and Mack will most likely hit home at least 1x each. Hopefully he doesn't get demoralized...

Solder would be giving up $10M. I give him lots of respect if he make that decision.
I don't think Thomas will be a liability at either spot. Don't forget we have Toilolo, the biggest TE in football.

What a shit show of an offseason. Thomas will be better at LT IMO based on the competition he faced in college. Fleming is solid depth, not a 16 game starter. The hits just keep coming....

He's a swing tackle with experience at both positions. I don't see why he would be compared to a career LT like Solder. He wasn't brought here for that.

No preseason games to compete for the job... Yeah and people expect 8-8 and better when the first 8 games we could legit be just having competition at starting jobs at both tackle positions that would have under a normal preseason

I think I may be in the minority but regardless of Solder's situation I want this kid to be plugged in day one at LT. That's why he was drafted at #4. You don't draft developmental players at #4. Sure all players are gonna get better over time but at #4 your drafting and plug and play guy......hopefully. I also think/hope this coaching regime is smart enough to chip/give help which it seems the prior regime was adamantly against.

The Giant's are still in the same piss poor situation with a tackle who actually worse that our crappy starting LT.

Actually the more I think about it if Solder opts out Thomas gets the chance to compete for the starting LT job as best as we can try to... If anything this could accelerate Peart starting this year as the year goes on

As this is probably his last season, I doubt Solder opts out of $10M. With all the testing, he's less likely to get Covid then going to the store with a mask on.

...and we still have OL problems, never ends. Facts.. Keep posting brother, I got your back. Most is the obvious Krunch Solder in my opinion most likely will not return, probably for the best. Leaves a lot of "new" and limited time to practice before the season starts: Thomas the 4th rounder will need to prove himself early like day 1 in his pro career, then Flemming will be inserted new to Giants team etc., I like Peart (new too) we'll see how he develops Guards we are set Zeitler and Hernandez I like how they have played Problem is the center with Pulley IMO, who is the back-up Lemieux? Pio, injured too much and is still recovering. Is Gates the option for center? Maybe the starting center is not even on the team yet? I have to believe some options are out there still. I'll leave the heavy posting to you!
