It's football. It's about playing as a team and showing up to play on game day. We have plenty of talent. The o-line is significantly improved. Defense is a question mark, but can't be worse than last year. And I already have more confidence in this coaching staff to have a competent game plan and play calling than I ever had under McAdoo, even when we were 11-5 and playoff bound. Speaking of which, we went from 11-5 tp 3-13 in one year, which tells us even more so how the game is happening as much between the ears as on the field. I'm not making a prediction, because it's up to the players and play callers whether we succeed, but we certainly have the talent and depth on the roster to be a playoff team.

I concur. This team has way too much talent to just be a 5-6 win team this yr. No way is anyone gonna tell me that OBJ/SB alone aren't gonna be worth 3 wins each this yr in games where they are the main reason we win the game & help contribute to another 4-5 wins as well. 10-6 or 11-5 is my prediction for this team this yr.

I don't know about our depth but I agree that we are an improved team on paper and I'm more confident with Shurmur/Shula/Bettcher/McGaughey.
My greatest concern are injuries. I think if we could stay relatively healthy we could make some noise.

I will just say this....there has been a lot talk about the revolving door of a roster, but for the most part it is with the bottom of the roster. It's an attempt to improve depth, it's not like we are releasing guys that teams are scrambling to sign.
The starters on the roster are improved on both sides of the ball. Special teams seem to be improved, this costs us 1-2 games a year it seems. The coaching will be improved, and the play calling will be improved.
This roster can win, if injuries are kept to a minimum. That has killed this team more than anything ever year it seems. The guys we let go weren't going to determine the success of this team, they weren't....it was about trying to improve the depth while maybe purging the old regime.....

So he's good to go? I'm a Bama fan ( going to their game tomorrow ) but being an SEC fan I have seen enough of Carter to know he's going to be a player. I think even a break out star

I just want us to play well and compete. my expectations are more along those lines. It would mean a lot if the OL could hold their own, being competitive against a team that is solid at all levels, making sure when they head back to Jacksonville the feel it and know they were in a fight, can't stomach games like last years rams game, no matter what the outcome is, make sure that team doesn't want to see you again thats what I want from my team.

I expect the Giants to win. Why not? they are equipped with a 1st round draft pick who many say was the best pick in the draft based on athletic ability. We have a top notch wide receiver (maybe 2) who can play against ANYBODY and on a roll cant be stopped without double or sometimes triple teamed. We have a dynamic tight end/wide out who is said by some, top 5. We have an experienced quarterback who can lead this team the way he did in 07/11.
Yeah, they will win again, why not go from 3-13 to 11-5? The foundation is there, alls the coaches need to do is put it all together.
Go Giants.

I just want us to play well and compete. my expectations are more along those lines. I think they’re going to be able to do that. I really do. I think there was so much wrong with coaching for the past number of years...I really think this is going to be a big change. Don’t know how good their record will end up being but they’re not going to be a disgrace (MacAdoo) or a frustratjng (TC) team.

How can you possibly know the OL is significantly improved? Because Bobby Hart is no longer part of it. And Ereck Flowers still is. The right side of the line looks like a tremendous liability. In fact, the whole line still looks pretty shaky for the most part. Sure, some may say that it looks better than the OL from last year, but thats not saying much. We could probably field 5 guys from this board that would do a better job than the line from last year. Temper your expectations, guys.

Without a doubt the most ridiculous thing I have read to date on this board. I think I popped a hernia for laughing. I would bet money on this . The 5 worst D linemen on the 32 NFL teams practice squads would push aside The MB O-line as if it was not even there.

We will know something after the first game, then we will know much more after the ninth game. During that first game I would like to see commitment and effort by coaches and players. That will tell me that there is the potential to win. By game #9 I would like to see the team gelling and playing solid football. If these individuals are able to come together as a TEAM, they could be ok. We will see how it plays out. Are they going to mesh as a team or simply be a band of individual malcontents?

Lighten up, my friend. I had hoped you weren't. It is hard to tell with some. Some of the members are literal. I would pay to see that though. Just using that as a metaphor is saying the line has improved significantly . I am a bit concerned with the 2 guards and the center. I am not with Flowers . He has been holding his own in the preseason . He gave up one sack . I am not concerned about him as I was this time last season . He has improved. I think our 2 tackles are as good as most teams .The 3 in Center of our Line no so much.
