C- / Looked confident and poised for most of the evening but those bone headed "Bad Eli" like mistakes killed us. I was encouraged with his pocket presence for the most part and he didn't fumble which is nice...

Lot's of good. Two terrible plays. I'm still giving him a break though. He needs experience and he couldn't get any real snaps until this game.
He is a play maker though.

Kid can play. I’m extremely critical of this team and it’s players. And I refuse to say he’s the real deal. Yet.. But, as each week passes he continues to pass the eye test. He has to stop the *** damn turnovers though. Two interceptions today, and one of them was a back breaker.
We didn’t lose cause of him, and that is something that should be mentioned.

C+ because of the two critical INTs. A- outside of that.
His mobility is a big asset, no fumbles. Threw a few dimes.

Jones is of the same ilk as Darnold and Mayfield. Shows flashes but isn't a franchise QB. Hell be a decent backup QB one day like Matt Shaub and Carr.

I think that last turnover was a back breaker taking points off the board and putting points on the board for the steelers. Think if they can get that OL to settle down he will be fine. That said I think that is gonna take 5 to 8 games.

I really liked what I saw. I think he's got the goods, but there's still an aspect to his game that I still can't buy into and that's to be expected he's got a lot to prove as a young QB.
His mistakes were very costly, but game one of year 2 I'll let these things slide till midseason/end of season. He's got some growing up to do and hopefully it's fast. It's okay to make turnovers, as long as you're overcoming them and still wining football games. I think he's got the talent to do that, he's just lacking experience.
He continues to flash despite growing pains hopefully he gets "it" eventually. I think he can, I expect to see him make significant strides by the end of the season.

Solid against a good team. Also, if you are looking for the real positive, the pocket awareness did look much better. He throws one ball away .5 seconds sooner and we are having an even more positive conversation. I believe he is easily better than Mayfield or Darnold.
In other news I give Gates and F ——————-(this is roughly 12 minuses)

That said I think that is gonna take 5 to 8 games. He’s already on pace to shatter his turnover record. Kid has to learn that the team with a different color jersey is not on his side. As for the offensive line. They don’t have 5-8 games to get better, they have to get better and fast. Or our season will be lost around Halloween.. Again.

No fumbles, a good sign.
The two ints will hopefully be a learning experience for him.

On the second one, in the future he needs to take a sack 100% of the time.

Jones's QBR was a full 10 points higher than Darnold's as a rookie. Jones is more mobile too. Mayfield was almost rookie of the year, regressed after Odell entered the picture. The jury is still out on them, I've found Darnold to be the least impressive.

Agreed And one can argue the defense actually made better plays than Jones being totally at fault on those 2 INTs.. that one int was just a great defensive play. The other one his arm was hit. I think he played well with sharp acciracy most of the game. He scrambled in certain situations, when a pocket passer would have just took a dive. Get him a good C. and RT.

I'm just going by a spot I heard with Geoff Shwartz where he was saying a veteran team takes 6 to 8 weeks to perfect a new offense we are talking about young team with a new offense. Hopefully they improve sooner then later.

Darnold and Mayfield each opened up this season slowly. Think Jones will be good to go when they get this OL to settle down, Barkely needs to at least get to the LOS before contact and Jones needs to learn to give up on a play sometimes until this line gets going ,Thomas actually seemed to get better as the game went on Gates was an issue but I think we all expected that.

Reminded me of Eli. Even the slide. Yikes.
Eli would always throw a few nice dimes and then Eli it up. Jones did that today.
Danny Dimes to Danny Nickles

He played OK for the most part. A bulk of our fans simply don't know how outstanding the Steelers defense is.

Thought he played okay. Some great plays and then some bad. His ball placement is fantastic at times.
The drive that ended in the interception in the redzone was BALLSY. He showed moxie and toughness. Between the rushes and the 4th down chuck to SQB. That was incredible. Wish it ended in points so bad.

He still has that slow release though. He needs to speed up his clock a bit. There wss one play in the 2nd half where he triple clutched a pass. Not sure why. He didnt need to.

I knew if he had over 30 attempts it'd mean we fell too far behind.
