Yes this belongs in the history section and yes I will move it there shortly, and yes I believe I've posted this before but it's too good not to watch again.

This is one of my favorite reels it should be shown to every new Giant that walks in the door the intensity expected when you put on that NYG jersey and lid.

One of the reasons today's game sucks in comparison.

Hell you could pin this to the top of the boards and no one would say squat......in the words of Parcells after watching that....."if you can't get ready to play this game you oughta take a hike...."

The fierce intensity, the athleticism, the ultimate competitive fire. To me it’s not even a perhaps or maybe, I know for fact that I watched the greatest defensive player EVER play for the Giants. My favorite player of all time in any sport. Not even close. I could watch any highlight reel of him 100 times and it wouldn’t get old.

He was the best defensive player ever then, he’d be the best defensive player ever now, and will probably be the best defensive player ever in the future.

He was the best defensive player ever then, he’d be the best defensive player ever now, and will probably be the best defensive player ever in the future. How many players have been labeled the “next LT”? Obviously it’s not their fault, but it just exemplifies the standard created by Taylor that no one has been able to achieve ever since. Odell was the closest player to LT in terms of initial impact that the Giants have drafted since, but like everyone else, they are just not on that level.

That was 8000 yards in penilties in todays game. Ya think? Could you imagine. If LT was in his 2nd or 3rd year (today) and racking up the penalty yardage. I could see the Cut, Trade, and Let Walk pundents all clamoring fof the FO to get rid of him and how the GM mad a big mistake taking him with the #2 pick. Because in todays game if he played like that ? His style was balls to the wall pain. He would have had to tune it back and have given up production.

He wouldnt be be playing his same game of course but he his ability and athleticism would take over. for example.....Would Kahlil Mack play the same game in the late 80s as he does today? Of course not.

LT would have still kicked ass in today’s NFL. He played in an era where tough men survived. Now, it’s all about athleticism and speed. Today’s tackles would have mysterious injuries before game day. Quarterbacks would put a restraining order on him. Opposing coaches would pray he doesn’t destroy their game plan.
As for the rules? LT played extremely hard but never dirty. He would have adapted to the league and destroyed it at the same time.

it wouldn't have been the next level human version, but still the best
LT was just as amazing in the intellectual and psychological part of the game. He was the best I've ever seen on a play by play basis simply knowing where the ball was going. The number of stops at or around the LOS he made was stunning and a by product of his super human efforts and just knowing more than everyone around him on the field.
Those parts would have carried to today's game.

At 315 Andrew Thomas would been Mount Andrew. Today AT is an average weight for an OT.

With diffrent rules and sized players. Today's game with the size of the O-line and the QB protection rules would have hampered his stats and game. His number would not have been as good.

You’re telling me, that Lawrence Taylor.. The best defender this league has ever seen, arguably the best player all time would not be as impactful in today’s game due to the size of the players? Put LT in this pass happy league with the pathetic offensive line play and he would double his sack totals. There’s not a tackle in this league who could have blocked LT in his prime. LT no matter what era would have dominated. I’m surprised you’re going this route with LT. To quote Bill Belichick. “We’re talking about Lawrence Taylor here.”

With that his numbers would have. Jackey Slater was probably one of the best OTs that ever played the position. @ 277 Could he block a 315 -320 DT in todays game? He was great in his era . Today he would not have even been singed as UDFA let alone drafted.
