My cross post from the 2020 thread
Well
We are at this point... Still too early to tell on a bumch of kids But I'm taking over as GM
What I'm doing Cutting Zeitler Solder Tate Shepard
See if i can get anything for Engram
Resigning both Williams and Tomlinson (hedging that they key the defense by the end of the year)
We will leave FA alone as far as other improvements
I got a killer deal from Jacksonville
11: R1P11 LB MICAH PARSONS PENN STATE
Chase went right before me at 10,easily BPA and probably the safest pick of the draft,,modern new age linebacker that should be a besst behind that D line
28: R1P28 WR JAYLEN WADDLE ALABAMA
This team needs recievers in the worst way, modern NFL,get as many hyper athletic playmakers on the field as you can..
He has Tyreek Hill playmaking ability
34: R2P2 CB PAULSON ADEBO
You want a clone of Richard Sherman ? Also fits a major need as well STANFORD
43: R2P11 C JOSH MYERS OHIO STATE Right now I want to see what Gates does the rest of the wwy..at the very least he can play guard if Hernandez flatlines and we don't resign him
66: R3P2 EDGE TYREE JOHNSON TEXAS A&M
Really quick twitch guy..figure both Golden and Frackel are gone next year
75: R3P11 WR CHRIS OLAVE OHIO STATE
Out depth going into the draft after cutting Shepard and Tate are as of now Slayton and a bunch of nobodies
Can play slot and is a dynamic threat all over the field
104: R4P2 WR NICO COLLINS MICHIGAN
BPA and major playmaker at an area of dire need
113: R4P11 TE LUKE FARRELL OHIO STATE
A Kaden Smith clone As we are a very heavy 12 formation team he would be a great compliment to Smith
130: R4P28 RB KYLIN HILL MISSISSIPPI STATE
Modern bowling ball type with speed and recieving ability (see his game with LSU)
181: R6P2 CB JAKE JONES ARIZONA STATE Spray and pray time at corner
TRADES TRADE PARTNER: JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS SENT: ROUND: 1 PICK: 2 RECEIVED: ROUND: 1 PICK: 11 ROUND: 1 PICK: 28 ROUND: 2 PICK: 11 ROUND: 3 PICK: 11 ROUND: 4 PICK: 11 ROUND: 4 PICK: 28

i dunno if im ready to start drafting. I havent really done any research yet, and we need help across the board, so theres a whole litany of players to look up.
We need help at WR, TE, OG, C, CB, LB, FS and Pass Rush. Then again if we get #1, do we take Lawrence??

I think the season has to play out till the end to really see where we are at as far as needs and making tiers The 2 major needs i can't see us solving this yesr by development right now are corner and WR,and it looks like deep classes for both.. So going BPA for the most part helped address these needs quite nicely (with Parsons being a glaring BPA where I picked that i couldn't pass up)

Surtain Jr and Chase went the last 2 picks ahead of me and I didn't like the value at either CB or WR till later in the 1st/early 2nd (which actually happened) While not a pressing need Parsons would be the LB many wanted Simmons to be and could be a difference maker especially if we keep the D line Intact

Finally getting a few games in, but my top 2 picks are locked in college season or not...and both have not taken the field.
2: R1P2 OT PENEI SEWELL OREGON
As Andrew Thomas struggles, I can't allow this team to pass on an actual honest generational left tackle in the Quenton Nelson talent realm. Trading back always an option, but this guy is the Trevor Lawrence of QB prospects, the Quenton Nelson of guard prospects...you get the idea.
40: R2P8 C JOSH MYERS Ohio State
Obviously we need a center. This will be the best one this year...huge, athletic and smart.
66: R3P2 LB CHAZZ SURRATT NORTH CAROLINA
Athletic linebacker ...not going to last to the 3rd round.
72: R3P8 WR CHRIS OLAVE OHIO STATE
Route running master with speed...I expect him to kill it if OSU plays ...not a screen guy nor going to get YAC
104: R4P2 WR CHATARIUS ATWELL LOUISVILLE
Route running crapola, but dynamic once you get him the ball. Is a screen guy, and will get YAC...lot's of them.
181: R6P2 CB T.J. CARTER MEMPHIS
Speed and ball skills...kind of thin.

7: R1P7 EDGE QUINCY ROCHE MIAMI- I am a huge fan of Roche. He was really fun to watch last year at Temple. He would be an extremely talented edge guy to bring into the mix.
34: R2P2 LB CHAZZ SURRATT NORTH CAROLINA- I love Chazz Surratt. I think Martinez and Crowder will be a solid duo at LB (Downs lacks the speed/quickness I think). Chazz is fast as hell and has a ton of ability. Guy was a 5 star QB, broke his arm, and switched to LB and was just behind Simmons last year for the best ACC LB. Have to love his talent and heart
39: R2P7 CB CAMRYN BYNUM CALIFORNIA- CB2 is a major issue. I think Bynum is a good player and would be an instant upgrade at the position
66: R3P2 WR CHRIS OLAVE OHIO STATE- We really lack offensive weapons. I like Olave a lot. Get someone other than Slayton who can make plays and get open!
71: R3P7 G CADE MAYS TENNESSEE- A lot of excitement around this kid. He plays nasty and worst case he is depth for us, or maybe he replaces one of our guards currently.
104: R4P2 C JIMMY MORRISSEY PITTSBURGH- Really solid center prospect. Could replace Gates potentially and allow Gates to be an ultimate utility depth OL or have Jimmy as the backup and really good depth
109: R4P7 DL DANTE STILLS WEST VIRGINIA- Who knows if Leonard Williams is here to stay but Stills is really fun to watch. He would be a really solid guy to throw into the mix on that DL
148: R5P7 WR COREY SUTTON APPALACHIAN STATE- I like Sutton a lot. Need talent at WR really bad. Him and Olave would be bringing that to the team
181: R6P2 RB RAKEEM BOYD ARKANSAS- I like the way he plays the game. Could depth behind Barkley
186: R6P7 TE JOSH PEDERSON LOUISIANA-MONROE- Who knows how long Engram will be a Giant. I like Kaden Smith a lot too but getting another body with talent at the TE position would be beneficial for the team

Hard to project the corner position....I'm going to see what free agent drops from the league cap tree... Tis team is also in pass rush life support...just one playmaker in the Young, Bosa, Allen mold...who needs a double team... it's all I ask.

My defense is taking shape as I get my edge guy...too bad we will miss Rousseau vs Trevor Lawrence this Saturday, as Miami takes on Clemson in what should be early must see college football TV...
7: R1P7 EDGE GREGORY ROUSSEAU MIAMI
39: R2P7 C JOSH MYERS OHIO STATE
Starting center of the future...check
40: R2P8 DL DARIUS STILLS West Virginia
Blew up Baylor again...leverage master that has yet to unleash full pass rush potential. I am predicting he will be a first round player come draft. Say goodbye top Leonard Williams and sign a shut down cornerback.
66: R3P2 TE KYLE PITTS FLORIDA
3rd round? For Pitts? He might be the best player in college right now...not named Trevor of course.
71: R3P7 LB CHAZZ SURRATT NORTH CAROLINA
What can you say...you add this athletic linebacker to Rousseau and Stills, and we are becoming a dominant defense
72: R3P8 WR CHRIS OLAVE Ohio State
Time to get some weapons for Daniel Jones...watch OSU this year, and keep your eye on this WR...a better route runner you will not see
104: R4P2 WR AMON-RA ST. BROWN USC
Once he learns to beat press, he's pro bowl bound...EXPLOSIVE
109: R4P7 G DEONTE BROWN ALABAMA
Massive guard with quick feet with an anchor that will prevent any movement towards the fumbler ...he goes forward.
148: R5P7 RB KYLIN HILL MISSISSIPPI STATE
Want a back that can catch passes? Look no further...
181: R6P2 CB T.J. CARTER MEMPHIS
Not sure he makes the 6th round...but the value is insane here
186: R6P7 CB RODARIUS WILLIAMS OKLAHOMA STATE
VERY experienced and talented cornerback....again, value here is insane...still signing a shut down in free agency and telling Williams to go away.

Zaven Collins OLB from Tulsa is really really fun to watch. I think he’ll be someone skyrocketing up boards
Also had 3 sacks vs Oklahoma State

Tis team is also in pass rush life support...just one playmaker in the Young, Bosa, Allen mold...who needs a double team... it's all I ask. As far as pass rusher goes I'm a bit undecided right now Rousseau if he played would probably have been the first non QB off the board.. My issue watching him last year was he was winning just on being a mega man playing against boys athleticly,I really didn't see many pass rush moves per say, this would have been the year for him to work on this Now granted word is he is working with personal coaches to help him prepare for the draft but how.can he actually practice against live O linemen... Meanwhile his teammate is already shooting up draft boards as is whats his name from Clemson If we are picking 5 as much as I want to think Rousseau is the holy grail many of us want as a pass rusher I unfortunately see him as a boom or bust pick at this point As far as corners.... i see 3 that I really like Surtain is about as solid as you will see coming out,I don't see the top end Okudah ceiling but in this era even top 10 I think we would all settle for "very good " starter for 10 years ... My favorite and for this defense is another kid of an all pro Asanti Samuels jr....he plays EXACTLY like pops...meaning he plays the bait and make a play style...... And with our style of defense....he could be deadly Also like our guy from Stanford that reminds me of Sherman... The problem witb corners is who knows how they translate to the NFL..its not like we are the only team with bust corner picks....tbe entire Eagles 2017 d backfield they drafted busted....look at all the high round corners that were available during training camps drafted in the past 3 years.... And I think tbe ultimate problem is whats happening in college is starting to happen here ...the overall level of reciever play is far superior to their counterparts covering them and teams are giving up on corners quicker because they panic . We honestly have a better chance of doing a day 3 spray and pray method of drafting multiple corners every other year and finding a guy by luck then targeting one early

I also really like Patrick Jones II from Pittsburgh. I liked him as a sleeper last year but he came back for another year. I think it will end up being a great decision by him. He had 3 sacks vs Louisville.

One of my favorite WR prospects outside the top top tier guys like Chase. He would bring a nice element to this offense. Can be used in numerous different ways and can make the most out of a short/simple play

1/4th of the way through Some good trends (defense seemingly starting to gell,O line showing signs of life) Some obvious needs
Still don't have the FA part up so all I'm saying here is I'm signing both Tomlinson and Williams to extension..cutting Tate,Shepard,Solder and Zeitler
7: R1P7 CB PATRICK SURTAIN II ALABAMA
Oh lookie here...dire need meets BPA
34: R2P2 LB MICAH PARSONS PENN STATE
Tbis is a top 15 talent and probably the best LB in the draft Even if Crowder steps up ,no way in hell am I passing on this guy We could delete Martinez a year early if needed
39: R2P7 WR TYLAN WALLACE OKLAHOMA STATE
Dynamic outssde playmaker we desperately need (Im contemplating Gallup in FA as he is perfect complimentary high end 2 that would not make us completely desperate for a WR with Slayton the only WR as od now NFL caliber)that has number 1 potential
66: R3P2 C ALEC LINDSTROM BOSTON COLLEGE
Gates is showing he is a solution...for now Lindstrom can also play guard and Hernandez is iffy going into his contract year..
71: R3P7 WR CHRIS OLAVE OHIO STATE
Professional NFL caliber WR that has all tbe skillsets to also be high productive If I decide to go get Gallup at worst we have 4 high end number 2 type WRs that teams will have to fear..
104: R4P2 TE NICK EUBANKS MICHIGAN
I'm debating deleting Engram..
148: R5P7 TE CHASE ALLEN IOWA STATE
Decided to double up ..Iowa TEs tend to translate well into the NFL
181: R6P2 RB RAKEEM BOYD ARKANSAS
I have no idea who he is,BPA and we might need a backup to Barkley TRADES TRADE PARTNER: ATLANTA FALCONS SENT: ROUND: 1 PICK: 2 RECEIVED: ROUND: 1 PICK: 7 ROUND: 2 PICK: 7 ROUND: 3 PICK: 7 ROUND: 5 PICK: 7

So similarly to Barkley (not comparing them at all) if he was shut down the offense struggled but the threat of him being out there opened things for other guys. Day 3 I’d definitely take a chance on him. Overall really solid draft. Tons of talent at positions we need CB, WR, etc

They have a new coach from Georgia and they won vs Mississippi State last week which was their first conference win what legitimately seems like at least 3 years lol. Yeah, that’s a pretty good summary of his game. Side note Parsons in round two would be absolutely insane lol

This is why if we are picking top 5 its imperative we aren't shopping hungry at too many positions, and also IMO unless Jones turns really bad you don't want to be picking another qb when there will be opportunities to trade back. Because there is a huge chance a player like this falls into our lap.. I knew I had Atlanta's 2nd so I knew I would get one of the recievers i targeted there...

Yeah, that’s a pretty good summary of his game. Side note Parsons in round two would be absolutely insane lol There are going to at least 1 or 2 players that would have been legit top 10 players possibly fall completely out of the first after opting out.. Getting the #1 pick and trading back a few spots for someone desperately wanting Lawrence and getting King’s Ransom would be a nice tactic for sure. Be able to shore up a lot of holes with talented prospects. Ideally Jones looks better the rest of the year to make that decision easier (idk though with his weapons)

Idk if it has been mentioned but Rashod Bateman opted back into playing college football this year. I’m excited to see him play this year especially without Tyler Johnson there in the WR core with him. He’s a really fun player to watch

Sewell, Hernandez, Myers, Shane Lemieux, Andrew Thomas
When Peart is ready, we have Thomas as all pro guard to replace the, let's face it, failed Hernandez experiment, that seems to get a lot of slack for below average play because he was the 2nd rounder behind the touched by God east west finesse thunder thigh poster boy.
