Yankees moving Staten Island, Trenton minor league affiliates The Yankees’ minor league system will have a different look beginning next season, according to a report. As part of MLB’s reorganization of the minor leagues, the Yankees will move their Double-A affiliate from Trenton to Somerset, N.J., and their short-season Single-A affiliate from Staten Island to Hudson Valley, which plays its games in Wappingers Falls, N.Y., according to Baseball America. nypost.com/2020/11/06/yankees-moving-staten-island-trenton-minor-league-affiliates/

How Yankees could potentially replace DJ LeMahieu: Sherman The Yankees could sign DJ LeMahieu in the next few days. Or he could accept the $18.9 million qualifying offer before Wednesday’s deadline. Or he could reject the qualifying offer, but still come to a long-term agreement. Those are the most likely outcomes for the Yankees and their best player the past two years. They really like him, he really likes playing here, and history says that creates the pathway for a deal. Three years at $70.2 million, the $23.4 million average putting LeMahieu over Jose Altuve for the second-highest deal ever among second basemen, with a reasonably triggered $27.8 million option that would move the four-year total to $98 million or $24.5 million, topping Robinson Cano’s second base record average. Virtual handshake. Done. Except there is a fourth path — away from the Yankees. What if the largest revenue losses by any franchise in the pandemic-affected 2020 combined with losing to the small-budget Rays both in the AL East and Division Series motivates Hal Steinbrenner to be more conservative about opening his checkbook? Once a player is out in the wilds of free agency, anything is possible. Often the lack of a sizable offer from the team that had initial exclusivity begins to harden feelings. In this colder marketplace, the Yankees could challenge LeMahieu to find a strong multi-year deal, so they are not bidding against themselves. But what if he does? Lifelong Mets fan Steve Cohen would understand what it would mean to his constituency to sign a star like LeMahieu not only to play third base, but also to hurt the Yankees. The Blue Jays are expected to spend to make up AL East ground on the Rays and Yankees. Putting LeMahieu atop their lineup and across their infield would aid and abet that effort. nypost.com/2020/11/07/mlb-free-agency-how-yankees-could-replace-dj-lemahieu/------- They cant be this dumb can they?

My favorite Yankee while growing up in the 1980's. Were there any other Yankees in the 80s? Lol Dave Winfield, Willie Randolph. Ron Guidry, Dave Righetti, etc. I get the joke though. Don Mattingly was the player we all wanted to be though. His swing, his defense, and even his mustache. He is the reason I ended up batting left handed throughout little league and high school baseball.

Well it is obvious that he will be a free agent after rejecting the qualifying offer. Why would he accept it? IMO, he is worth around 25 million per year. 4 years/ 100 mil with a 5th year option would get the job done. If another team offers a guaranteed 5th year, I would match it immediately if I am the Yankees.

Man, I was just looking at Rickey Henderson stats again, and I shake my head every time. He is so underrated for what he did.
Leading the league in steals at age 39... unbelievable.
I know some think he was juicing in his A's days, and very well could have been, but man. Those legs didnt quite. I thought he had some more pop though from my memory. For some reason I thought he was close to a 40-40 guy. His career high was 28 HRs.

I also enjoyed watching the Braves quite a bit in the 90s. Of course you had that amazing rotation of Maddux, Glavin, Smoltz, Avery, Neagle but then guys like Ron Gant, Otis Nixon, Terry Pendelton, Chipper Jones, Andrew Jones, Ryan Klesco, The Crime Dog, Kenny Lofton, Rafael Belliard...
Fun to watch. Reminded me of the Astros until we found out they were cheating.

I thought for that were for sure going to beat the Yankees in 1996. As great as those teams were, I feel that they underachieved. I remember stocking up on Steve Avery baseball cards. LOL

So it looks like DJ may be skipping away. I'm ok with this actually; put gleybor back at 2nd where he played better. Than we get to upgrade at defensively at short stop with Andrelton Simmons!

How can anyone support this team.... Openly bringing back cheating managers and personnel.
Red Sox bring back J.T. Watkins, video staffer who was suspended for sign stealing, as professional scout
Cora rounding up the Boston Cheat Party...

The Sox did nothing wrong and they had to justify their investigation by suspending someone....anyone. So they chose a some little guy who's life MLB tried to ruin just to save face with a bogus investigation.
Good for the Sox for not allowing a huge, multi-billion dollar giant like MLB, to destroy a little guy who did nothing wrong.

I cant believe Cora and Hinch are allowed to manage ball clubs again. 1 year later. And Pete Rose is still banned. So stupid.

Pete Rose should unequivocally be in the HOF if they are letting Cora manage again, anywhere. He was crowned the ring leader of the scandal by some in that crowd. The players and managers got off Scott free basically for one of the most damnning cheating scandals the sport has seen. Did you see Altuve's stats this season?

And there it is. Why talk about Yankees juicing? We all know that they did. Along with all.pther teams having juicers as they were suspended too. Most got suspended and paid the price. Arod won't be in the HOF because of him juicing in Texas and NY. Clemens same. These players got punished. Astros players did not. Cora did not. Hinch did not. Yet Rose is still banned. Makes no sense. Im disappointed the sport I love so much, especially as a kid is letting this proven cheat manage again. And for it to be on the RS after they fired him for cheating?

I dont think stealing signs when you have a man on 2nd is cheating, but when you're using technology like an apple watch or whatever Altuve was wearing.....yea, its cheating.
And lets not act like the Yanks were the only team in sports whos players roided.

Steroids was a systematic issue. MLB knew they were juicing and did nothing. They wanted to juice their bottom lines. There was not 1 team clean of steroids. This scandal was something else. Not every team was doing it. Sure some were trying to steal signs, like baseball has been doin for ever, but the use of tech in the batting cage in the club house breaking down signs and relaying them or the trash can banging or the wire Altuve was wearing...

For the record Alex Verdugo hit .308 and actually got a MVP vote. Jeter Downs is the Sox #2 prospect and trade or not, Betts would be gone.
Those who criticize that trade don't know what they're talking about.
