No lasagna for labor day cost us a game already. losing 2 games to the O's is simply brutal. How can that team be our achilles heel?

Good grief. Down 4-0, top of 9th, Yankees pitcher walks 3 batters then gives up grand slam, making 8-0 , extinguishing any chance to comeback. This may be remembered as the definitive low point of this season.

The Yankees have blown leads in dramatic fashion and those losses are way worse than this one where they just ran into really good pitching.

I think that most of us weren't buying into this team being a contender despite that winning streak. We barely made any ground against the Rays then and have lost even more ground since. I can see it now. They will spend Cole in the wildcard game and the Rays will make quick work of them in the ALDS.

Hopefully giants give us something to root for in the fall starting this Sunday.

It is pretty amazing to see a team play so great for a stretch against some good teams and then so badly against bad teams.
Hard to understand.

HR or K bats do this. Pitching is starting to falter. Did you guys expect anything different than at best a quick exit in the playoffs? Just being realistic.

They beat bad teams but are usually stifled by even average pitching. We had great pitching early that kept us in first place, but like you it's steadily gone downhill. And I don't expect us to even make the playoffs.

You can tell they're a cohesive bunch. Unlike the Yankees rag rag band shoved together and "managed" by a bubble gum chewing blowhard.

Cole was supposed to be the one band aid to stop the bleeding when the bats got cold or pitchers are getting lit up. Unfortunately both of the latter are currently happening but with cole out too it's hopeless

I thought that they would be better, especially on offense and in the bullpen. I predicted the White Sox beating either the Yankees or Rays in the ALCS and going on to face the Dodgers in the WS.

Bobby Valentine to throw first pitch to Joe Torre at Mets' Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony The New York Mets are bringing back two iconic New York managers in remembrance of 9/11. Former Mets skipper Bobby Valentine will throw out the first pitch to former New York Yankees manager Joe Torre during the Mets' Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony. Both men managed those teams during the 2001 season. The Mets played the first game in New York following the Sept. 11 attacks, a 3-2 win against the Atlanta Braves. In addition to the first pitch, Mets players will wear first responder hats during the team's Subway Series game against the Yankees. Mets players from the 2001 team, including Mike Piazza, will attend the ceremony. sports.yahoo.com/bobby-valentine-to-throw-first-pitch-to-joe-torre-at-mets-sept-11-remembrance-ceremony-180712475.html

Gary Sanchez just made one of the most embarrassing plays I have ever seen.
1st and 2nd for the Mets. Hitter ropes a liner to left. Runner tries to score from 2nd, the ball is thrown in to Gary with he runner at least 20 ft away, and Sanchez gets cute and swipes the tag late up while the runner slides and gets his foot on the plate first.
I'm tired of this lazy moron.
Boone should have pulled him right there and he should be DFAed after the game. Bring in one of our minor Cs.
This franchise needs a major change this offseason.

"embarrassing" is the one word Michael Kay said describes Yankees bottom of 3rd inning performance. Get the impression most on the team are already thinking about next year and the off-season. Where they'll be playing, and if it's here who will be managing.
