Anyone got a pulse on who they should draft on Wednesday? I grew up a Knick fan, but living in NC it's been tough keeping up with them with them never on TV and with them being so bad for so long.
Similar to the Giants, though, I feel like they're in a decent situation to grow with a group of young talent. Nobody over the top special, but a couple kids who can be part of a winning team. We also have a good chunk of change to work with, along with 3 picks in this years draft, and a FO that seems to have everyone's respect.
For about a 10+ year stretch, I felt the Knicks never had any picks to work with and they were always in cap hell. They were the laughing stock of the league, and arguable of all major sports. If nothing else, this is a nice change of pace.
Personally, I do not want us to go after any big name FA. I didn't realize teams could do this, but I'd rather us take on a few bad contracts for certain players and acquire additional draft picks in years to come. Keep building through the draft this year, stack more picks for years to come, and save the cap space for next off-season and go after Giannis or someone similar.
Anyone with more insight/NBA knowledge have any thoughts to what we should do, or who we should draft?

I like Aaron Nesmith. Lights out shooter. Could bring some real excitement. 6'6'' Forward out of Vandy. Hit +50% on his 3 pointers this past year.
No one they will draft will be a game changer by themselves, but at least with Nesmith you could get a legit shooter to light up the scoresheet.

This is the vibe I'm getting, which also makes me OK with the idea of trading down. I know the NBA draft is different than NFL draft, and teams typically seem to be more successful with veteran players, but we're not in contention to contend at this time so I'd rather stack youth and draft picks. I see Nesmith had a foot injury, which is concerning. The idea of a pure shooter to stretch the court would be real nice though.

I'm a Nets fan that grew up in a Knicks household. Here are a few players that my brother and I talked about in regards to the Knicks: Obi Toppin from Dayton (I doubt that he falls out of the top 5) or Devin Vassell from FSU. Maybe even Okoro from Auburn (can't shoot yet, but would be an excellent wing defender in the future).

On paper, I think a legit point guard who can handle and distribute the rock, and get into the paint at will would be much needed. I also like the idea of a big who can stretch the court and defend. We need everything, so I'll take what we can get as long as they're a player.

Anothony Davis just opted out in LA....
Davis and Westbrook?
I think the Knicks need to be scrubbed clean like the Mets before they can do that.

If Davis does leave (less than 1% chance IMO), Chicago would be the place since that is where he grew up at. Even if that is the case, he would be leaving a ton of jack on the table.

Forget the CP3 to the Knicks rumors. It looks line he is headed to Phoenix. Man, do they have a squad.

The idea of trading away capital for a CP3 or Westbrook gets us nowhere long-term. I actually got a bit nervous when the Breaking News ticker went across my screen. Was happy to see the Suns name.

If they want to make the playoffs next year I hope Jesus is available at 8. Actually a Westbrook trade could work.

I also like the PG from MSU, Cassius Winston, as a potential target for our 27th pick. A athletic big man who can play above the rim and stretch the floor, and a PG who's apparently top notch at running the pick and roll and knock down the 3......not a terrible combo in my opinion.

They need to invest in the draft, and build through that. These quick fixes is exactly why this franchise has been a dumpster fire. That and their owner..

Except that if he’s healthy, Westbrook alone is enough to elevate them to the playoffs. His last full season in OKC proved that with ease. When he runs the team, he’s a hell of a player. Sure there are injury concerns, but him playing across town from KD would be money IMO.

What should be questioned is are you willing to pay $132 million for the next 3 years? And doing so, you have a player who dominates the basketball so much that development of players will fall to the waste side.

There is probably a bit too much pressure on him as is.

We should trade up for Ball (just kidding, can you imagine his dad unleashed on the NY Media market)

We should trade up for Ball (just kidding, can you imagine his dad unleashed on the NY Media market) Might be my least favorite draft scenario. Even if he ends up being a player, I don't want to ever have to hear from his father again.

I don't know why, but I'm more excited about this draft than I've ever been for any NBA draft in my adult life. Maybe it's because we've been in cap hell most of my adult life, maybe it's because we rarely seemed to have 1st round picks in my adult life, let alone two, or maybe it's because we have a couple young players who look promising. Whatever it is, I'm pumped.

Knicks move up from 27 to 23 before a pick has been made. This seems odd. At that range you’d think you’d want to see who is available prior to moving up.

Knicks acquire No. 23 pick in draft from Jazz for 27th, 38th picks New York acquired a higher pick in the first around to go along with its No. 8 overall pick in Wednesday's draft, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Jazz have also sent the draft rights of 2008 second-round pick Ante Tomic, who isn't expected to play in the NBA. It's unclear what New York's plan is for its newly acquired pick in the draft, perhaps it could be part of a larger trade package prior or during Wednesday night's draft.
They are trying to package 8 and 23 for a top 5 pick.

After posting how excited I am for this draft, we make a trade before the it even starts. There isn't a player worth trading for in FA, and there isn't a player worth trading up for in the draft.
If it looks like a another dumb Knicks move, and talks like another dumb Knicks move.......

Like the original team drafts the rights to a player to be traded. Seems like that happens all the time in the NBA draft.

Here we go! I don't know much about these guys, but it seems like a few folks dropped.
Obi seems interesting, but he apparently doesn't play any defense which is not good. There's the kid from FSU, and the two PG's all seem like good prospects.
Should be interesting.
