Leon Rose gets to find out what it’s like to be part of this organization. Clear 40 mil in cap space, get rejected by anyone in demand, fill up the roster with 40m worth of crap. Things may never change for this organization.

I would not pay Gordon Hayward 30 million per year either though. That is how much Charlotte paid him. I would be more disappointed about not getting Van Vleet if I were a Knicks fan.

Westbrook or broke. That would be my stance right now. I'd rather go broke, honestly. The goal shouldn't be to make the playoffs this year. The goal should be to put ourselves in the best position for long term success. I don't think trading the farm for a player like Westbrook makes sense at this point. Stay the course, sign a couple under the radar FA, and run with what we have. Next year is the year to get aggressive in FA.

Look who wins championships. Ever since Lebron took his talents to South Beach that’s what it is. I think Westbrook would love to battle that little b**** Durant for the heart of the city. Durant is a fraud. Even now he’s desperate to add Harden to his team because his only faith is in a completely rigged team.

I might just be used to the NFL and building through the draft. He's a damn good player, so it's not doubting his skills. I just don't want to trade away future capital for a short term fix.

I can understand why people get turned off about the ring chasing that these players do. This stuff didn't happen in the 80s and 90s. What people tend to leave out is the at least 30's of millions that they leave on the table in their chase. I've been a Durant fan since he came into the league and have remained one throughout his career. He's one of my favorite players. I'm lucky that he somehow made it to my squad. I know that he would be wearing a Knicks jersey if Dolan was not the owner.

Big stars (at least ones that you can win with) only go to teams that can present a clear path toward contention. Right now the Knicks don't do that. If Barrett and Obi turn into big time players by next offseason, then you'll see FAs show interest in coming here. I would have liked for them to get a true PG in the draft (looks like Payton will be the PG again), but maybe they are thinking that Barrett will be the primary ball handler and facilitator in the half court with his ability to get to the rim. Quickly then makes sense with his ability to knock down open 3s. Wonder what the starting lineup will be? Payton, Barrett, Obi, Randle, Robinson? I know Obi can shoot, but can he a Randle exist on the court together? Then they'll have Smith, Burke, Noel, Nilikina and Knox as the main guys off the bench. I guess Smith would be the "6th man" scorer off the bench. Quickly and Ed Smith are bottom of the bench/Injury replacement guys?

I think there is only 5 Knicks I would keep on the roster going forward...
The 2 this year, Toppin and Quickly, Barrett, Robinson and Knox.
Fill out the rest of the roster from there.
Remove Dolan.
Go get some star power.
Boom

This would require the the Knicks to have good luck. Therefore I dismiss it. Immediately Toppin will be an offensive force on the league. The question will be if Thibs can get him to play defense. As far as the Knicks they are projected to be the league’s worst team. On one hand you can’t set very high hopes, but on the other hand it wouldn’t be hard for them to be a pleasant surprise. I think if they can win 30 games and be somewhere near a playoff spot with a month to go, that will be a major success. Because we all know if they finish with an abysmal record they aren’t going to win the lottery anyway. (I’m going to keep preaching this as it worked wonders with the Rangers lottery fortunes).

I'll have to remember to root vehemently against Dallas this season,
