I really wonder if DG had some sort of dementia or other disease that contributed to his destruction of this team. I’m honestly not trying to make light of people with dementia (horrendous, horrendous disease) and I know he went through cancer but his “moves” were so f’in bad that I’d have to think there may have been other contributing factors other than arrogant ignorance. Nah, he is just a moron with a huge ego. The funny thing was, there were so many here saying how great he was doing through the entire desecration of our team. Up until the final nail in the coffin.

Honestly some knowledgeable football fans could draft better than some of the people who get GM jobs in the NFL... There are people in the NFL who have important roles that should never have had them... one of them being Dave Gettlemen. Its more about who you know I guess.

Yeah, that still amazes me. I don’t know if it was blind homerism, which I’ll never understand, or just being naive and ignorant but I’m still amazed at how many people defended the majority of moves he made even though it was glaringly obvious how bad they were.

It's probably hard to say how much blame is truly on DG. Hard to know how much his decisions were influenced and by whom. Maybe Shurmur was really pushing for DJ and influenced that decision, Mara too, although they claimed that was an organizational decision.
The whole trade back deal last year was so out of character for him, it makes you wonder if he was "influenced " to do that. Maybe Judge was more involved in some of the decisions, who knows.
Maybe a part of it was other members of the organization making poor player evaluations and recommendations, right down to the scouts.
Not trying to make excuses, he was the GM and he made the calls. He's the one who said Saquon was "touched by the hand of God" and how he "fell in full bloom love" with DJ after the senior bowl. He put the team in salary cap hell.
I just think it takes more than just a bad GM to be where the Giants are and have been for the last several years. It goes deeper than that.

And I think the trade back was a Judge thing as it seems they had the deal done pretty much after the Denver pick..(so I have a feeling even if Davonta Smith was there we pass on him as well)
