What an effort at the end of 2 periods so far. Breaking the game open 4-1. Pasterneck double shifting for them. The Isles are certainly targeting McAvoy. Knocked him out for 6 minutes of the 2nd period before he came back from that hit elbow or shoulder by Palmeri. They've been knocking Hall around as well.
The Isles defense Mayfield and Leddy have been sensational. And the P & P boys Pullock and Pelleck have been playing above and beyond.
The isles forwards are playing great. Nelson 2 goals in the 2nd period.
Varlomov kept us in this game thru the 1st and 2nd period. A few loose plays late in the 2nd but the Isles cleaned it up.
This 3rd period have to stave them off early as they have to take chances to score.
Love when the Isles are aggressive like this. What an all out effort so far everybody has been playing great.
Put em away and don't look back.

The Isles played about as good as they can that 6th game vs Boston.
Were going to have to play like that vs Tampa. The Lightning are the best team in the league. Best goalie, best offense a long list of scorers.
Haven't played them this season. Not in awe of them this time around. Let them watch out for us.
Get ready to be bruised and sore Tampa.

I'm actually shocked they are doing this without Anders Lee. Wish they had him right about now.
Palmieri didn't look like a great trade at the time, but he leads the Isles with 7 goals this postseason and a big one tonight.
Zajak came with that trade too and has been solid replacing Wahlstrom.

FYI, Tampa Bay is the #1 most penalized team in the NHL this season. Thats an opportunity the Isles have to take advantage of in this series.

I'm just going to say something here and not engage in any trash talk like I did last year...
Don't be overconfident going into this next series. Lightning are not a one line and good goaltender team like the last 2 teams...(let's face it Boston was a tip line and Rask and Rask checked out sometime midway game 5 ) Lightning have 3 legit lines that can put the puck in tbe net and a world class goalie. And unlike last year 100% healthy with Stamkos playing at his future HOF level ...on the 2nd line ) And again I'll clear up a major misconception about Tanpa Just because people see then score on a lot or odd man rushes with fancy passing that is not what they are, they prefer to play a clog the neutral zone type of game (probably the left wing lock with Cooper witb ties to those Detroit teams)and most of these plays are counter attacks after a neutral zone turnover They are also a bigtime aggressive forechefking team once in the offensive zone.. The best way to describe their game is a blend of tbe classic early 80s islander teams witb the good late 90s Detroit teams...and a top goalie This is a battle tested team that finally tasted a cup win (should have been their 3rd in a row TBH ) with a lot of clutch players that score at clutch times that don't get headlines (Alex Kilorn is a regular season JAG but is a gut punch type goal scorer in big spots going all the the way back to 2015 when he basically knocked the Rangers out in both shut outs on their ice to zeal that win )
Tbey can win any style...so thinking you can play a slow defensive style in the neutral zone suits them well, and opening it up would bs suicidal...
Their one negative and has been going again all the way back to the finals vs Chicago are long stretches where the get lackadaisical and disinterested, which causes sloppy play in their own 3nd
And even this year they've survived playing like this (see game 4 vs Carolina)
Very penalized yet still being able to overcome this also shows good penalty killing for the most part (they actuallyhave 3 penalty killing units ) And one more thing If they let Tampa own their end of the ice the way Boston did this past series it will be a quick series...

Can't argue with anything you say. 3 lines that can score, a long list of scorers, the best goalie in the league. Last year we lost to them in 6 games This year this very easily could be a 7 game series. The Isles will need to score on their PP. And your right we cannot let them own the puck and our zone for 3/4 of a period and expect them not to score. Tampa just keeps coming their the best team in the league. But if were going to win the cup we were going to play these guys again sooner or later. Were not in awe of them this year. Tampa wins their games with their play between the blue lines. Were going to have dump the puck in and go chase it down and forecheck like we did in game 7 vs Boston. Isles need to win any OT games. Make Tampa sweat a little.

Even the National Anthem was cool the lady stopping in the middle and letting the crowd sing. Right There I would have been screaming and standing all night. The Long Island crowd has always been great. Too bad we had to wait almost 40 years to get back to competing for the cup. I love the heart of this team and love their fans with all my heart. Stay Loud ! Send the Coliseum out gloriously. At least 2 games left.

Oh it can happen Lightning up 3-2 vs Washington in 2018 and decide to go home the rest of the series It's happened at an alarming rate with a team thus talented, even though last year they finally put it together It will happen in this series..yall spend 15 minutes in the offensive zone while defenders stand around as spectators watching Vasilevsky stand on his head This is where NY needs to score and in bunches to have a chance Oh And stay out of the sin bin,Tampa scores at nearly 50% on the power play

Game 1: Sunday at 3pm Then every other day late games. Yeah and unfortunately I have major swimwear line photoshoots all weekend so I'm missing this Going to go on Tuesday night though Interesting observation Islander fans have little if any presence down here ..the 2 time the Bolts beat them in tbe playoffs in normal non covid years hardly any.. When tbe Rangers played them in 2015 they really had a major presence (funny thing is we always get a Potvin sucks chant going every game,I've heard this chant happens in many arenas for inexplicable reasons..people think it's just a hockey chant without knowing tbe history of it because my girlfriend tells me they do it in Toronto and friends of mine tell me it happens even in Vegas...lol.. Anyway we get the whistle going to get it going and it was quite the trip seeing t fans of teams involved in am insane series..probably a top 5 series I have ever seen all joining together getting that chant going looking at each other wondering WTF)

Yes yes yes
Isles take game 1, 2-1, in a gritty performance. Cheap goal late by TB with a 4 on 6.
Varlamov was solid all game.
Let's go!

Analyst this WAS a "gritty performance". Valamov was great I was hoping he would get the shutout. The Isles forechecking was magnificent kept Tampa off their game for 57 minutes. Vaselevesky made some big saves for them in the first 2 periods. Tampa does take a lot of penalties. We need to make them pay when their a man short. Stamkos didn't have a good game for them at all missed an open net made a bad pass that led to Pulocks goal. Vaselevesky muffed the shot as well. Think it hit his mitt and went thru the 5 hole.
We had excellent scoring opportunities if we can keep that up they will pay off. Our defense is something to watch. We had better legs than them in the 3rd period. Actually we looked faster all game. We were the better team today.
We got the first win in the bank. 3 more to go. We need to keep playing like we have the last 2 games. Beating Boston and this 1st game in Tampa.

Down 2-1 into the 3rd.
Not the best game from the Isles but not the worst.
Need to step it up however.
Lots of fighting and a nervous couple of minutes with Varlamov out.
Isles were given a power play on a bad call in which they tied it at 1. Then the refs allow the Lightning to have 7 players on the ice for their goal to make it 2-1, which should be reviewable IMO.
Gotta come out hot in the 3rd and shoot more. Not enough shots. A couple of crossbars from having a lead.

Terrible 3rd... Gotta bounce back in game 3. Tampa was the better team tonight. They came out with a plan to be physical right from the get go. This will be their game plan in game 3 as well. They know the crowd will be rockin on Long Island. That first 5-10 minutes of game 3 should look like a scene from "Slapshot". The Isles offense will need to show up this series if were going to win this thing.

Was at the game last night (completely missed game one ) Atmosphere was insane,I really think this is the one team in Florida with a die hard fan base (we fill the arena even when we aren't that good)
Game was intense to watch It's definitely a left wing lock the Bilts play in tbe neutral zone (and I think NY plays a form of tbe trap so it seems both teams are content in clogging tbe neutral zone ) The one thing you can't see on TV that is evident live is when the Lightning's passing is on how fast and smooth they move it.
2 atrocious calls that both teams benefited from so no harm Again I saw idiots on FB say Tampa is soft...this game should dispel that myth
Lightning up going into the 3rd again turn up the level of play Also their 3rd line was almost as good as their 1st line (Johnson;Guorde ane Maroon)
Islanders ...nothing stands out watching them, kinda a very homogeneous type team through all 4 lines, not a particular bad thing in that they do their jobs and such with little fall off,but you don't ever get the sense when they get the puck that something can happen like you do witb Tampa (both Carolina and Florida had at least one line you had to hold your breath a bit when they were out there) I mean we have seen teams built like this steal a cup every once in a while but those teams have had world class goaltending and not had to face 30 plus shots a game, dunno if Varlomov is that goalie at this point(FWIW he is very solid )

Oh About the the 10 minute mark POTVIN SUCKS)
Then again after Hedman's goal Also interesting and weird A 1940 chant late in tbe 2nd that has no relevance
Some other chants I didn't recognize that were aimed at the Bruins and Penguins
And apparently they are trying to steal the Predators "ITS ALL YOUR FAULT"chant but because so few know this it was a mess
Yes this fan base rips off chants leaguewide
