I'm not sure if there are more first round graded OL other than Sewell and Slater, maybe late first round grades. But the amount of round 2-3 grades looks loaded and plenty of teams are going to fill a need on their offensive line.

From a draft site that also has top scouts - yes, those boring guys who happen to be the most important aspect of any football game or team These guys will be playing in the NFL and taken quickly...well, day 1 and 2
Penei SewellI can't say this enough. This 20 year old phenom is the Quenton Nelson of the tackle class. You want a guy who can gap and zone?...like Nelson? and do it at all pro levels? This guy is a no brainer first guy taken not named QB. Rashawn Slater
Pro bowl player day 1. Who can get around those quick feet? Christian Darrisaw
Watch his punch... Teven JenkinsA rag dolling right tackle ... amazing block Dillon RadunzOh, this guy will be a first rounder...tape does not lie, and he solidified his talent at the senior bowl. Sam Cosmi
2nd best feet and mirroring ability in this draft...here he shows off the wheels for a ...yes, TD In case you forget he is a after whistle mauler as well...this is when we start seeing some technical issues in players and they slide to rounds 2-4...then becomes a question can they improve and are they easily coached...what's their athletic limits. He was a favorite of some here last year, before staying in school. Pass sets are brilliant Jackson CarmanInjuries for this Clemson stud...could be a pro bowl player once he gets back to learning...the athletic toolbox is just needs tweaking Walker Little
Stanford stud...hopefully Coach Shaw can bring some insight if he visits the NFL Network coverage once again Liam Eichenberg
Might be the most technical guy of the group, but his athletic abilities will limit his ceiling Alex Leatherwood
He's a guard, which I will do the IOL in another thread. He reminds me of Flowers, to a T...he gets toasted on pure pass sets so consistently outside it is almost embarrassing to watch. Yet, at guard and less space he could be a pro bowl player. Like the cornerback, these tackles are on Islands many times...takes a while to translate to NFL speed...Leatherwood will be out of the league if he plays tackle in the NFL IMHO...unless some brilliant coach can fix that soft outside leg...this is a high school habit that should have been corrected back then. pass on these guys, Sewell won’t be there. Much better value and not much drop off in the 2nd round tackles. A name to watch, jalen mayfield. Gonna be a steal. Many scouts listing him as a guard...lack of athletic ability...not a very good pro day.

I don't get this sudden phobia about taking a guy that can play T but projects as a really good guard lately The same people that still virtue signal passing on Nelson

Jalen mayfield. He’s being over looked but he’s a stud as well. I’d actually pass on Sewell for a playmaker if I knew I could get mayfield at the top of the second. He’s not gonna make it out of the first unfortunately.

Why would you reach? I don’t get how people don’t understand you don’t reach and leave better players on the board, especially when certain positions are loaded. 🤷♂️

Or is your draft board the one that should be relevant to the Giants FO? I will post the stats again. Top 10 picks 25year sample 1986-2010 All pro rates per position drafted. OL 21.6% CB 17.4% RB 17.2% WR 11.8% TE 11% DL 10.9% LB 10.7% QB 3.0% S 0.0% Bust rates RB 55.2% DL 40% WR 38% TE 37% QB 36.4% LB 28.6% OL 27% CB 21.7% S 18.2% The best bang for you pick is O-Line at the top of the draft. If O-line can be had in the 2nd round . Why are they picked so often in the top 10 and have one the best success rates? (CB is debatable also) Stats are proving a lot of firm held truths about Football to be talking head and fan misconceptions.

I don't know , the Giants seemed to pick the 73% of tackles that bust in the first round (Pugh and Flowers). I don't remember the last time they drafted a guard in the first. Not saying you're wrong OT , EDGE and CB are the best bang for your buck if you can hit on first round talent. I just think after spending 3 draft picks on Oline last year they might not have OT as a priority in the first round unless Sewell falls or they trade back.

This is the problem with "it can wait with O-line" It never can with Offensive linemen. Or you end up emptying your cap space on over priced FAs or re-singing players . You cannot have 5 O-lineman making huge money and taking up a large portion of the yearly Offensive cap allocation. That does not mean the O-line should lack talent. You need to have a conveyor belt of Offensive linemen in operation. One guy does not workout. There is a guy right behind him or a few coming in the draft. It is the one position group that needs a constant influx of talent to be successful. There is no such thing as a Number 2 on the O-line as it is with a WR or CB . edge DT. Everyone on the O-line better be the #1 at that position or being groomed to fill that position. If you are not or he show signs he can't be. Sayonara

Sayonara Given last year's draft and oline sigings and rework of Solders contract. I don't think the Giants are prioritizing the oline in the first round unless something special drops in there lap. Their drafting history points to it also. DGs drafting history points to. Bellichek draft history is similar. All the decision makers for the Giants have not employed or experienced a "draft OL above everyone else strategy in the first round" except for Garret. Also your team building article allocates 16% of the cap to the OL the Giants are at 15.6% . A first round pick would make the Giants spend less elsewhere. I am not saying your are wrong I just don't see it happening. Your strategy is good and teams like Dallas do use it. Having 1st round lineman ready to step in but so far it has not been the MO of the Giants. Who knows with Garret here this strategy might be employed.

Do those percentages change drastically if you break OL into two categories, OT and IOL (guards and centers)? Also, the college game and how they develop players is alot different now than even the latest dataset, 2010, not sure how to factor that in.

The averages of guards and centers although drafted less frequently are higher in success rates.
