If he doesn't get cut, then our interior line is in serious trouble if they can't find 3 or 4 guys better than him. He's not that bad of player overall. Assuming last year he was a product of a bad team. Not too many younger OLs out there. I am sure they will draft 2 or 3 He gave up 13 sacks!

Yeah and he gave up only 15 the previous seasons combined since 2014. (BTW it was 11 not 13 so lets not start piling on with bogus info.) You are acting like the NYGs penned Fulton in to start day one for the 2021 season. He's just a signing to see what he has to offer. The kid had a bad year or his skills are deteriorating. That's what camp is for. Signing him is a harmless move to see what he is all about.

I am certain Texans fans were happy to hear he signed with us.

Be overly critical if he makes the final roster and stinks.

I think its clear what the FO's plan is. At least, presumably. Draft is where we attack OL All they've been doing is making excellent moves in FA from all positions other than the OL, other than some rumblings about Turner, the Giants didn't attack this problem despite it arguably being their biggest issue. I dont trust the LG/OT positions.. Its the biggest hole we have on offence. Your OL is as good as its weakest link. Hernendez has potential, but hasn't put it together. Peart is the same and we dont really know what we have. We can't go into the season like this. DJ doesn't have the best pocket awareness and we need to afford him time in the pocket above all else, he will make the plays if given the chance for me: - Draft Slater; or Sewell if either are there at 11. Above all else. - I'd consider Darrisaw at 11, but haven't watched enough of him to be sure. Slater would slide into RG/RT day 1 and be elite, he coud easily play LT/RT and do fine, his initial punch is outstanding and I just watched him dominate Chase Young for 98% of their game. Rag dolled him and kept his QB clean playing LT. I think we could use someone like that, he can play all 5 positions. My number 1 target even over Sewell. This would put Lemieux as a swing guard, if Peart can't play RT you can pencil in Slater there and not bat an eye. If the above options dont work i'd trade down and pick later in the first , however, try and pick up an extra second, if possible. I'd spend 2/3 picks on a OG and OT and take a WR with our extra second Who will stop this offence if we can keep DG upright and open holes for Saquon who lets be honest, doesn't have the best vision? I dont agree with taking a WR #11 and hoping for the best in the lineman in the second. We need to build inside out How do you purpose we fix the issue? Doing well against Chase Young. Hmm. If only we'd known!

I never questioned that Slater would be great. But we just drafted a LT and if we did it over, I’d still take the first round pick.

Its dated and clearly doesn't work. Big, tall, long arms, lack of pass pro. These are the tenants we stick by. Going back to Young. Slater shut out a generational talent in his first pro game. Kind of insane

It wasn't going to happen. You can't put your best lineman at RG. He's a LT and nothing else. Maybe already the best in the league.

Oh Here is another idiot from BBV A Northwestern alum that called Slater fools gold because " hE hAd oNlY oNe gOoD gAmE aGaInSt YoUnG aNd iS oVeRhYpEd...basically saying he was a high bust risk Kudos for the Chargers finally getting an early O line pick correct possibly They have been along with us,Seattle, the Jets, the Bengals and countless other teams witb long histories of having bad luck drafting O lineman (let's hope Thomas keeps up the week 1 trend )

BPA.....if they did not make that trade for the Bears pick, which we will need to replace Jones...he was the obvious choice....no matter WHERE.

Same page When Smith was taken I was thinking we have a nice consolation prize in our laps and there were plenty of the smaller dynamic guys left for day 2 .. Instead we got what seems to be hopefully good dynamic guy and said extra 2022 picks and lucked into what seems to be a good starting guard after preseason... (Stay positive,Jones proves many wrong in in the next 7 weeks and the Bears pick gets turned into that kid who's name escapes me right now from Alabama)

Slater was one of my favorite players for us in this draft. I would have been stoked if we picked him. He and AT as bookends would be a huge improvement over the current O Line. No surprise that he's playing well so far. I'm also ok with the trade down, we may very well need that extra first rounder next year if things don't improve.
