I loved watching Tiki. He was the best we ever had. My favorite was Gifford but Tiki was better.
Tiki made his own bed. Glad he missed out on a Championship and missed out on the HOF.
This is the way I feel, screw him.

But Giants fans have a habit of eating their own.

You need to change the title of the thread , He's your favorite, what do you mean "only RB"? "Giant only RB" what is hard to understand? Never played for another team. Ppl need to seperate the person from the player. I do it in music all the time. I can enjoy someone's music without liking the person themselves.

He is an idiot . He retired himself out of the hall and a ring. His numbers look HOF to me. No modern (1989 +) RB has gotten in with under 12000 rushing Yards. That is a fact. He is 1551 yards shy of that . He is an idiot for not setting that goal. here is the proof. Unlike Some I can provide it. www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/rush_yds_career.htmI think Earl Campbell ( class of 91) and John Riggins ( class of 91) were the last to get in with under 12000.

Also I doubt you will any rbs hit this milestone the way the game is played now with less featured rbs, more mobile Qbs and a focus on rbs that catch as well as run.

Tiki is very deserving, and since the hall of fame has turned into the hall of the very good. He should get his opportunity..

Interesting you mention Earl Campbell. He's one of the reasons Tiki retired. Not an unreasonable decision if your long term health is more important than getting into the HOF.

I am just showing what the Hall has been doing. Interesting you mention Earl Campbell. He's one of the reasons Tiki retired. Not an unreasonable decision if your long term health is more important than getting into the HOF. That could be. But we are talking about the Hall. His rushing totals are not inline with todays voting board. I agree, Don't think Terrell belongs. It's because of his 2,000 yd season imo. He did have 2 great seasons and won a SB. I don't either but the 3 time all Pro . 2 rings and SB MVP helped his case Tiki has one All pro on his Resumé Surprised Terrell Davis got in with less than 8000 yards. I don't see how he compares to those other guys. Also I doubt you will any rbs hit this milestone the way the game is played now with less featured rbs, more mobile Qbs and a focus on rbs that catch as well as run LeSean McCoy and Frank Gore are shoe ins McCoy needs 900 yards . Gore is #3 on the list. (16000)

Once a Giants always a Giant.
Wow, what a highlight clip. World-class balance and vision, up there with the best ever. Great receiver too, multi-purpose RB, ahead of his time. Surprising amount of broken tackles, "lightning" was "thunder" too. I remember why Tiki was my favorite player as a young Giants fan, the video reminding me of the greatness.
I didn't realize Kerry Collins would throw his head down to block..he had a few nasty blocks in the video.

I thought Tiki would be Saquon's mentor...I don't know what happened there.
Tiki dined with Saquon and his family at a famous Harlem restaurant in 2018...it was reported that Saquon was asking him questions on how to stay healthy and how to be great. Saquon stayed healthy that year.
..but it seems like there has been some distance between the two ever since 2019 or so.

I honestly find it pretty sad and embarrassing that fans are still bitter about Tiki's words about this team almost 14 years later. Booing him at his Ring of Honor ceremony was low-class as well. It was one of the lowest things this fanbase has ever done. The guy was a great Giant and the best running back we've had on this team. He chose his long-term health over playing football for a few more years. More power to him. Leaving too early has ALWAYS been better than leaving too late. What happened to that "once a Giant, always a Giant" gimmick? I guess some of you only apply that to certain players.

Why can't fans judge players both on and off the field, and during and after they played? Tiki is a hard guy to figure. Great player and total loser in one guy. After he retired, he credited Coughlin for saving his career, teaching his fumbling ass how to carry the ball. But he also had screaming meetings with him after he became a "star." There's a reason most fans booed him. He thought he was more important than the team, he announced he was quitting in the middle of a season, and missed out on one of the best seasons in Giants history by one year. He earned his reputation. Just MO.

Many Giants fans are just pissy because he said Eli trying to make a speech was comical. ..... It probably was.
He shouldn't have said it because it betrayed locker room confidences, but it's not the end of the world. And he hated Tom Coughlin. Well they all pretty much hated Tom Coughlin. Strahan hated Tom Coughlin before 2007.
EA said in his book that TC treated the players like children. Some guys don't like being treated like children. Again, doesn't make Tiki some kind of bad guy.
And ultimately, revisionist history aside, every Giants fan loved Tiki when he was playing. He played his ass off and trained like a maniac. The last three seasons of his career were historic. I don't think there was ever a RB in NFL history who's last three years were as great as that...except maybe Jim Brown.

Tiki is a self-important ass and that's why people (including his teammates) thought he was a tool.

He earned his reputation. Just MO. Tiki IMO isn't hard to figure out. He was a great Giants player and did not break any laws off the field. I actually met him and he went out of his way to talk Giants football, life, and take pictures with me and some fellow servicemen. Yeah, he may have said some bad things about the Giants as a paid analyst, but that doesn't make him an ass or a bad dude. I'm also not going to hold what happened with him and his ex wife against him either because I don't know what was going on in his household. A lot of Giants fans are extremely hypocritical in regards to Barber as well. They boo him but they cheer for Lawrence Taylor, who has been involved with law enforcement and drugs on several occasions. Even an underage prostitute (allegedly). Both of these men are great Giants to me regardless. Their accomplishments on the field will live within Giants nation forever. IMO, Barber deserves our respect and praise, not pettiness.

This may be a faulty memory, but I don't remember ever knowing Tiki was not well liked by his teammates when he was playing. I remember a bit of tension with Stray around a contract, but I felt that was quickly forgotten after the contract was signed.

Everyone is welcome to their opinions!
Mine is TC was instrumental to Tiki's success by teaching him how to stop fumbling. Tiki admitted this publically, on how TC kept forcing him to run and hold the ball high. He literally was quoted saying TC "saved his career.". Google it.
Later in his career, when he was a star, he threw that same coach under the bus publically, and had screaming meetings with him. Then when he retired, he threw other teammates under under the bus, publically.
He did have an amazing several years in his career, and I rooted for him as much as anyone. But overall, judging him as a man, I think he was a pos, and hurt himself and his legacy because of it.
And apparently a LOT of other Giants fans agree with me.

This kind of post is exactly what I'm talking about when I suggest Giants fans like to eat their own. It's sad and I feel sorry for this poster and the obvious anguish he clearly lives with.
That aside........
........Many of you probably know that I'm not the biggest Eli Manning fan. Some have suggested that I even hate Eli. Of course I don't. But I AM a critic of his game. But if some numb nut jaggoff Pats fan makes ANY comment about Eli Manning I am all over his fair weather ass like ugly on an ape. NO ONE outside the Giants family is going to criticize Eli in front of me.....especially a pampered, fair weather dick head Pats fan.
You see...these arguments are all in the family....The Giants family. So if any Giants fan let's some low life, jail bird, scum bag Eagles fan criticize Tiki Barber in front of them...they should be taken out and shot.
And I don't mean in the leg.

Strikes me very odd that we have two Tiki love threads in such short order. It feels like the old days.
I'm gonna just ride the tide.....happy birthday Tiki and we love you without qualification.
