I really wanted him too, but I got over it once he said that that's where he was hoping to land. Plus his parents are cowboys fans. Best of luck to him except for when he plays us lol.

They all kind of said the same thing when asked that question. I don't think it would have been good if any of them said the team that drafted them wssn't their 1st choice even though it was obvious in some cases.

I loved both Parsons and Smith, but yeah I agree I'm okay with passing on Parsons, bc the talent speaks for its self, the fact the giants were willing to pass on him says alot. Getting Toney softens the blow of losing out on smith, getting a 1st rounder in the process for next year is also fantastic. I loved smith, but i'd be lying if I didn't worry about his size a just a bit at this level.
I think the Giants did well last night, hopefully that trend continues tonight.

Also, I believe that you and I have about the same amount of impact that EE has on the Giants draft. EE won't even get a 2nd contract from the Giants based on what I've see so far....

I think it’s telling that we have 2 coaches who were at PSU when he was there and we passed on him.

Big Parsons fan here. I was driving his bus for sometime now, I have speeding tickets to prove it. He was right there for the taking, and for whatever reason the Giants passed him by. Make no mistake, he will use this as motivation. When everyone doubted his character, and questioned if he was worth the pick. He will shut a lot of fans up this upcoming season.
The second he wore the Giants blue suit, and was sitting there waiting to be picked. I knew, it wasn’t going to happen. I remembered that we haven’t drafted a linebacker in the 1st round in 37 years. The Giants are doing their darnedest to keep that Cal Ripken Jr streak alive.

This is what it came down to: Parsons or Toney, 5th round pick in 2021, 1st round pick in 2022 (could be a top 10 based on schedule) and a 4th round pick in 2022. I would have been fine with Parsons but it really was Parson's vs. 4 potential players. Hopefully Toney lights it up and the Giants were right....

That is a combustible situation.

I was on the Parsons train medium time. But it will be easy to root for him to self destruct and for Smith to get crushed by a hit from Peppers or McKinney.

We traded back and drafted for need. Parsons and Slater were better players at positions of need. I don’t focus on next years picks. Those are stored in the attic right next to the Christmas decorations. Remember, their are a lot of jobs hinging on this season. Gettleman is on his last life, the clock on Judge has now officially started, Jones is playing for his future job. Our very owner is tired of dusting off his speech that he has used for the past 4 seasons. It’s now or never..

What you say is true about next years picks and they don't do anything to help the Giants now. I wasn't loving this scenario last night. There are a few things that might make you feel better about this decision: 1) Both Sean Spencer & Pat Flaherty were with Penn State when Parsons was a player. 2) Joe Judge attended Penn State's pro day. The Giants had plenty of eyes on Parsons and did their due diligence. There is certainly a reason why they passed on Parsons.

Moving down 9 slots is still pick #20 plus and #1, 4th and 5th is huge.

I don’t agree with it, but it’s water under the bridge. I’m not a fan of avoiding talented players, I like to add as many to our team. This has nothing to do with Toney, fine player. This has to do with passing on two very good players at key positions.
