Just listened to the press conference. At the 1:45 mark, and a few more times throughout the interview, I feel like Judge really emphasized the value of future assets (draft picks). He mentions the fact the Giants just went through a big Free Agency and it's critical to backfill and develop young talent.
Knowing the budget is going to be tight in 2022, maybe the Giants are looking to stack future picks to bring in more players on rookie contracts. I won't be surprised if we see another trade back in the coming rounds.

I really feel Judge is the first person, in quite a while, in the Giants org that truly gets it.

I'll tell you one thing, you get a lot more information from DG than Judge. It's obvious the Giants were targeting Smith and traded back as a result.
DG also mentions that there were a lot of prospects holding out a year and declaring next year and stock piling picks made sense. He also mentioned that there was less information about the players in this years draft then there will be next year. These 2 factors are good reasons to stockpile picks and it makes sense...
I love the way Judge conducts himself but he doesn't give you that much (Which is a plus).

I get the vibe that Waddle was the actual target and Smith was the hedge bet in case Chicago tried to short change us.... They clearly were targeting a modern dynamic X factor playmaker ..which also tells me both Toney and Eli Moore were the targets...
And I thankfully seem like I was correct in thinking no way Paye could be a pick for us with his bad scheme fit Paye probably hits his upside in Indy as they run a wide 9 if I'm correct...

What you are saying could certainly be true. What do you think about this scenario? Chicago called Howie Roseman or Jerry Jones and told them that the Giants were targeting Smith to ensure that they landed Fields. I mean, what was stopping them from doing this to ensure they got what they wanted? Once the Cowboys got on the clock, wouldn't that be a smart move if they desperately wanted Fields?

He drafted Mac Jones 15 overall, and immediately, first thing unprompted to the media, says Cam is the QB. These great coaches understand the game. I think Judge can be a very good coach for us. He just needs to lose Gettleman. :-)

They could, but there are long term ramifications when using disinformation to other GMs. Its not viewed as good sportsmanship and probably derails any kind of future interactions. I think GMs have a gentleman's (not Gettleman) agreement in place. If its broken, the league will turn on you. Its kinda like politics.

I would imagine if this got out, it would destroy a GM's credibility.

I've been digging into who's available for the last half hour or so. Here's a quick list of who I've got so far. I included the Safety and RB b/c I think they're the best at their positions, but would be shocked for either. I'm continuing to add to it. The one who really stood out to me is Teven Jenkins. Apparently he played OT, but is projected as an OG, blah, blah blah......he offers the versatility you're referring to which is what I also want. Not sure if there are any red flags, but I want OL on Day 2. Someone to come in and compete with the other OG's for a starting gig Day 1. I also like the kid from Wisconsin-Whitewater. There are a ton of folks still left. Rd2: - Trevon Moehrig – Safety – TCU - Javonte Williams – RB – UNC - Azeez Ojulari – Edge – UGA - Teven Jenkins – OT/OG – OK St. - Asante Samuel Jr. – CB – FSU - Christian Barmore – DT - Alabama - Quinn Meinerz – OG – Wisconsin-Whitewater Rd3: - Landon Dickerson – IOL – Alabama (Too many injuries to go higher)

Judge can sell you your own shirt off your back. I like how he starts off with. “Every pick is a projection, no player is NFL ready, let’s make no mistake.” Right there, he shut the question down, and let the reporter know. All these kids we draft, are going to be taught the right way, coached to be the best player they can be, and they will represent the franchise with class and dignity.
Kadarius Toney to me, screams Joe Judge player.

Just be a "super nice guy" while you are doing it.

www.bigblueview.com/2021/5/1/22412948/things-i-think-about-the-giants-after-day-2-of-the-nfl-draft“I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a priority. It was important to us,” Gettleman said. “This draft right now, in terms of unknowns, you have more unknowns than you can shake a stick at. You have kids that didn’t play this year. You have a lot of incomplete medical information. It’s really kind of an odd draft class. It’s an odd year. The NCAA allowed all those players to get another year and a ton of them did. One of the SEC schools, they had 13 kids decide to go back and play next year, 13 kids that could have been in this draft. That was pretty heavy throughout the Power Five conferences. We really have a feeling that next year’s draft is going to be really strong and it just gives you options.”

Any chance we could get a 5th if we trade down again?
