... to play TE. Source: Jacksonville Jaguars expected to sign Tim Tebow as TE JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It looks as if Tim Tebow is finally going to be playing for his hometown team. Just not as a quarterback. The Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to sign Tebow, 33, to a one-year contract later this week or next week to play tight end, a position he never played in high school, college or his previous three-year NFL career, a source confirmed to ESPN. A deal has not been agreed upon at this time. Once he signs, he will be reunited with Jaguars coach Urban Meyer, who coached Tebow at Florida and won a pair of national championships with the Gators. Word leaked on the first day of the 2021 NFL draft that Tebow had worked out for the Jaguars as a tight end. Jaguars GM Trent Baalke confirmed the workout but said the team wouldn't worry about whether it would sign Tebow until after the draft. www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31422193/jacksonville-jaguars-expected-sign-tim-tebow-tight-end-source-saysNo, this is not a joke. Tebow Mania is BACK. I know there is a Trevor Lawrence Jesus - Tebow joke in there some where.

I said on this board years ago that Tebow might have made a better TE instead of struggling to make it as a QB and failing...

This sounds like a publicity stunt. Who the hell signs a 33 year old player who hasn’t played a down of football in nine years? The laughter doesn’t stop there, he’s going to play a position he has never played before. The man who can’t hit the broad side of a barn if he was standing in front of it is going to play tightend.
No way will he beat out NFL athletes who actually play the position. This guy is nothing more than a gimmick. A sideshow for the fans who are still holding out hope for Tebows arrival. Great College player, mediocre pro player.

Just what the worst team in the NFL needs. Tim Tebow...lol
Expecting a lot of posing for the cameras, fiery speeches, and seat filling antics rather than production.

I doubt he makes the team.

I was listening to Keyshawn Johnson on ESPN this morning talking about this and I have to agree with him. If he makes the team, which really makes no sense to bring him in unless they are going to find a spot for him, you have a chance of losing your team by giving a roster slot to someone who has been out of football for a long time instead of giving it to some young guy who is probably better and has worked their butt off to get to the NFL.
The fans and players on the Jags have to be really confused by this whole thing.

Great College player, mediocre pro player. He is a big strong dude who has been playing minor league baseball so i'm sure he is in shape. Saying that, why would you risk bringing the circus that comes with Tebow? He is already 33 and what, maybe give you 1 or 2 years at best and make you look like a clown at worst. The clown is much more likely...

sell some merch then see ya later Tim.
Nice camp and preseason story but that is about it. The kid should have went for the TE switch years ago. I respect his perseverance to be an NFL QB but it was clear that wasnt going to happen. Too bad Tim.....you could have been at least a very serviceable NFL player at another position.

If it is at a high level, then, they cant really talk too much. Tebow has been staying in shape, professionally, since he has been out. So really, while I dont think he will be great, he could surprise us all.

He is straight edge. Yes, there will be media attention, but like TC just mentioned, maybe it takes the pressures and attention off of every Trevor Lawrence turnover. Just trying to see the positive here. Hell, he will probably be better than Engram at TE.

I feel bad for Trevor having to endure that. Could be a benefit ... keep the focus off of Lawrence 1st overall pick on a bad team. A nuclear explosion wouldn’t get the focus off of Lawrence. For all intents and purposes, Trevor Lawrence is suppose to be their savior, and turn the franchise around. Tim Tebow is a mascot parading around as an athlete.

If Tebow switched early he could have been a really good Swiss army knife type hybrid H back/TE/FB type that would have been great on a team that was ahead of its time like Seattle that was running RPO even in 2012... Look at what San Fran does witb it's FB (J......k)... Now expand his role to run jet sweeps with the option to pass... He was (and possibly still is )and incredible athlete that would have given teams fits because now you have a player you have to account for in ways they never had to before

He is 33 but he has a lot of legs left since he has been out of the game for so long. The question is, can he catch?

Wouldn't be surprised if he asked Tebow if he wanted one more shot at it ...
