This play is an all timer. All the 1st baseman had to do was step on the bag and the inning was over.

Ha. I don't understand why they didn't throw home sooner... it was right in his view the whole time.

In all the decades I've watched major league baseball I've never seen anything like this. This was great.
And I played for a softball team from a bar on L.I. that won only 1 game and lost 22 in a 24 game season. We had a rain out. We held a victory party during the rain out. That was this team and bar didn't win very often but led the league in parties.
Our shortstop was 230 lbs and brought a beer out to short every inning. He was one of the owners and he foot the bill and he wanted to play short. Sooooo ! Our first baseman was 6'8" but couldn't catch. Our 2nd baseman was so bad he got the nickname Bobby "swiss cheese " Kilgour. hit a ground ball to him you were almost guaranteed to reach first.
And last but not least our undaunted 3rd baseman "Doc" he got this nickname cause he was a volunteer fireman and one day in the bar this guy Glenn was drinking shots and passed out and fell over backwards off the stool. Glenn had a glass eye. Our vaunted 3rd baseman runs over to him pulls out a pocket flashlight shines the light into the glass eye and because the pupil doesn't contract this nut pronounces the guy dead. Thus the nickname "Doc".
And we never made a play that bad. Though it looked like it should have been in our highlight film.

It's true you couldn't make it up.
