Will make for an interesting camp battle What a difference a year makes Last year we were hoping UDFAs would be Victor Cruz 2.0 and save our passing game This year we have actual talent that might not make the roster..
Let's not forget at least one WR has to be a gunner type (thought Brown is good at it he might even be better at specials inside a bit)
So my June 11 depth chart Starting outside guys Golliday Slayton
Slot types that will contribute a lot Shepard Toney (who will be a returner but not on coverage teams unless he begs and pleads..don't rule this out as some guys just want to be on tbe field ..remember LT and Sehorn would beg to play on specials even when they were established)
The others (which includes Petis and Ross )
So how many do we keep? 6.. 7 if we have a designated gunner special teams guy ...and bottom of roster guys have to play specials ?
IiR I think they might be keeping the PS situation the same as last year so guys like Mack,Sills (who is impressing again but is he the 2021 version of Antonio London),ect can be stored away Last year one of tbe unfortunate situations with no preseason was the guys that would normally make the team because of special teams play in preseason games didn't get the chance to show this I think with 3 games and 2 joint practices we will see someone step up I say this because Last year Derrick Dillon was hyped to be a special teams ace.. He showed why he was undrafed as a WR with butterfingers ...but 4.29 speed and special teams ability nobody was able to see.. Seemed to me one thing teams found out was Board overran plays badly and teams saw this and designed their returns to exploit this If a guy like D8kon is down there in a flash waiting for the ball to drop into the returnees hands that we Could have automatic fair catches on every punt and a guy down there to down punts inside tbe 5...(Core was really good at this,we really missed that aspect of his game when he got hurt) So do we keep 6 guys and a marginal ST guy or keep 7 if an ace emerges Ala Dilon or someone

They also have a strong secondary to practice against to get a real evaluation during that time..

For all intents and purposes, it's 4 deep. And that's making some big assumptions about Toney. It's a good group with lots of potential. Our best in years.

When a position is deemed “crowded” it’s always found out it’s not. We have three receivers who missed time last year Golladay, Shepard, and Ross. That leaves Toney, Slayton and a bunch of nobodies. And most of these guys don’t play special teams. Which we know if you want to play on a Joe Judge team, you have to play specials. Gallman will vouch for that. In a perfect world we have options in what on paper is a deep position. Unfortunately, injures don’t care about percentages or fans feelings.

He should've tried tipping the ball for interceptions since that gets a player another year on the team.. LOL

If you are RB2 or 3 same with LBs and DBs on any roster you better be a teamer or you have a good chance of being gone. That might be why it took a while for Gallmen to get signed they bargain basement shopped and got a back that can carry the load for a while.

Albeit it almost cost us the game and was one of the worst I've ever seen.

Judge must have blinders on, our very own quarterback who is a “fumbler” coughs up the ball during walk throughs.

IMO: Fumbling had nothing to do with it.

I wasn't thinking 7 WR's but it could make sense depending on ST's. Our DB's and LB's are going to be in the same boat. To me it looks as though our ST units might be really good players with depth as well.
But those 5 WR's you mentioned there isn't going to be room for a 6th imo. The 6th might be the ST guy. We could keep the extra WR or 2 on the Practice squad as far as the WR role goes. But I'm not against the 6th and 7th WR being carried if they add to ST's.

I think they only had 4 active WR's last with various rookies rotating in from the PS. WIth 8 active LB's, I dont' see 7 WR's is realistic.

Difference between Gallman and Jones here : Jones has shown abilities that can’t be replaced by ~2/3 of the players at his position. FYI I do/did like Gallman, im just tired of mediocrity. We know what he was.

It’s obvious, since Judge has become our head coach that players from starters to the 53 guy are not above playing special teams. Look no further than Eli Penny.. We rarely if ever run a play that calls for a fullback, however he has a job. Why? He plays special teams..

Our best wide receiver of the group will be the rookie of the year...Toney Yeah, I believe that....IF he gets his mind 100% into the culture of Judge and NY Giant football. I believe we will get the ball in his hands, and he will deliver what many have seen in the SEC and Florida...the on the field vs off. He's also gonna need to learn a lot of the playbook, cause I'm seeing him lining up everywhere on the field...might do a better Barkley than Barkley...and suddenly throw a 40 yard laser from anywhere he lines up...he's the weapon we've never had.

Based on his fast start, I'm calling for a half season at most: Flashes of brilliance, flashes of diva and flashes of man of porcelain.

I'm thinking 6 WRs.
Golladay Shepard Toney Slayton Ross Pettis
I read Brightwell played gunner at Arizona so I would keep four RBs.

That's an excellent point I think Toney will be PR and KR I don't know about that. Peppers averaged 12.5 yards per punt return last year, which is something like top 5 or 7? Plus I think a few of the players ahead of him stats were skued since they had only a few returns.

That's an excellent point I think Toney will be PR and KR I'd simply force John Ross learn to return kicks lol. He wont crack over Golladay, Shepard, Toney maybe even Slayton, so might as well make him useful. That speed on KR would be nice.

It's not that he has to return punts, he does because he’s good at it. I get it but I think he is more valuable at Safety. I'm sure Jason Sehorn would agree. He's valuable at both.
