The Giants were not happy with him. Even though he wasn’t under contract he signed a waiver protecting him in order to practice with the team.
According to the report, he missed a couple weeks time working with Daniel Jones, and ended up with the 2’s and not the 1’s.
Obviously not the best way to start your career, and hopefully not a precursor of other things to come.

These guys get the chance of a lifetime to be a part of an NFL team and then treat it like it's nothing.
This kid better turn out to be a superstar.

In life there are opportunities that present themselves. You need to jump in with both feet as they may never come again. I don't know all the details but it's looking like this is headed in the wrong direction. All of us have seen people that mess up their opportunities and this may be just another example of it. I hope the kid figures it out but the Giants will move forward with or without him. My gut says John Ross will be the surprise WR.

There you have it. When most fans brushed it off as nothing, the Giants themselves now have said they aren’t happy.
Rookies need all the practice and repetitions as possible. They have to learn a playbook that resembles an encyclopedia. And build a rapport with their quarterback. Any type of setbacks will hurt the players development and the teams plan on using him.
As harmless as it was perceived, it wasn’t a good look going to get custom jewelry. When you didn’t attend a single OTA. Your first practice you wore the wrong cleat, and you followed that up with slipping and sliding all over the field. Then, you get excused for personal reasons. This isn’t the University of Florida. You’re now a professional athlete with 5 minutes of experience under your belt. Start acting like a pro..

There are reasons this team gets off to a slow start and ends up out looking in. IMO : If not attending VOTAs is not one of those reasons. Suck it up and get your butt there to remove it from the list.

In a society that values profits over productivity there is no motivation to work hard. We saw that with COVID, hard work never trumps the bottom line. Especially when the football system is built around exploiting players from high school through pros. The system has made billions of the backs of these players and they are not allowed to get paid until the reach the pros. He made more money than most of us do in a lifetime just from the work he put in the last 7 years in high school and college. |

Im not worried...yet. But its on the radar now.
His durability is still my #1 concern with him, but the character of the kid is creeping up fast.
Its always concerning when a rookie doesn't want to dive head first into the NFL the first moment he can.

Old school Tom had Nicks and Beckham playing with the starters right off the bat? That doesn’t sound right. Even the best rookies have to earn their bones. Some sooner than later. It took LT 20 minutes to play with the starters. And he was the best player on the team from day 1. |

You are correct Sir, neither Nick's or Beckham stepped right up with the 1's Nick's worked his way up during pre-season, but Beckham couldn't even get on the field with the 1's,2's or 3's because of a hamstring issue. Unfortunatly, Toney has begun his career in similar fashion to Beckham. I hope it's temporary. |

If he was starting 3rd string I'd be a bit upset. He is a very talented receiver. Not that any of this matters. If everything goes well, he is going to be a different receiver than we have had. He is going to play out of the backfield quite a bit IMO. So we could have trips, Golladay, Slayton, Shep, with Toney running around pre snap and Barkley in the backfield. That's how I see his value anyway. Get the ball in his hands in open space any way possible. |

How could Toney have passed Golloday, Shepard or Slayton already? He's had one real practice. And I wouldn't expect this to change much in 2021. Unless someone goes down, he's our 4th WR.

Agent, family or mentor... if not already, they should start giving this rookie solid, succinct advice on pursuing his Pro career
Having now seen higher round picks squandered the past few years of this rebuild, it's easy to want to jump all over this one
Giants certainly should know the warning signs and address it early on
Hopefully, it is nothing

"The Giants" is a nice way to write in the article "we have no source". Obviously the entire organization would rather him in OTA than not in OTAs. There is a massive difference in "not happy" and "pissed off". Why would they be happy he missed OTAs?
