There you have it. When most fans brushed it off as nothing, the Giants themselves now have said they aren’t happy. Rookies need all the practice and repetitions as possible. They have to learn a playbook that resembles an encyclopedia. And build a rapport with their quarterback. Any type of setbacks will hurt the players development and the teams plan on using him. As harmless as it was perceived, it wasn’t a good look going to get custom jewelry. When you didn’t attend a single OTA. Your first practice you wore the wrong cleat, and you followed that up with slipping and sliding all over the field. Then, you get excused for personal reasons. This isn’t the University of Florida. You’re now a professional athlete with 5 minutes of experience under your belt. Start acting like a pro.. Who said it?
"The Giants" is a nice way to write in the article "we have no source". Obviously the entire organization would rather him in OTA than not in OTAs. There is a massive difference in "not happy" and "pissed off". Why would they be happy he missed OTAs?
From what I read, there was no source. Dan Duggan only said Toney worked with the 2nd team offense. It was Mike Florio who had the catchy headline "Toney stuck on second string". Im not sure where anybody confirmed 2nd string was punishment or if Judge/coaches were upset with Toney.

Why would you need a source when yourself just stated “Obviously the entire organization would rather him in OTA than not.” You don’t need a credible source to know the Giants can’t be thrilled with their 1st round rookie only participating in one practice so far.

Don’t ask for the rain, and not be prepared for the storm. Okay. You got me on this one. Who wrote those lyrics? (i thought it might be Neil Young) You’re speaking to him..

Well he did ask to be excused and Judge did say yes. If they did not want him to tend to personal issues they could have denied his request. You can't complain he not working out if you excuse him or make practices voluntary. Just my opinion.

I can agree with that. If he was starting 3rd string I'd be a bit upset. He is a very talented receiver. Not that any of this matters. If everything goes well, he is going to be a different receiver than we have had. He is going to play out of the backfield quite a bit IMO. So we could have trips, Golladay, Slayton, Shep, with Toney running around pre snap and Barkley in the backfield. That's how I see his value anyway. Get the ball in his hands in open space any way possible. In that same report I read, they noted that his skills were noticeable when he got his chance to make some plays. His skills were noticeable at Florida. Him, Pitts and Trask stood out to me for them last year. Big time.

Worse, the agents know it is a bad look. What the hell are they thinking?

Hmmmmm.... "2 eggs, slice of toast, homefries for the Getty special coming up!" This is not a one-off, its a pattern with 1st rd(ers).. Hope I'm wrong but don't think so. Arrogance and incompetence go hand-in-hand these days I get the feeling that these kids agents tell them they walk on water and they are young enough to believe it

The Giants were not happy with him. Even though he wasn’t under contract he signed a waiver protecting him in order to practice with the team. According to the report, he missed a couple weeks time working with Daniel Jones, and ended up with the 2’s and not the 1’s. Obviously not the best way to start your career, and hopefully not a precursor of other things to come. Just wondering if there is an article you can link to? This is all very vague.
Here's the report I saw.

Talk of the Giants being surprised by his absence is the story that'll be used for clicks.
I simply put the info here without the drama.

ah yes....Dan Duggan with the "to my understanding..." bit to support his narrative. Just like his source told him that LW and the NYG were far apart on numbers...then literally 5min later LW signs. or Duggan claiming the NYG were not gonna make moves in FA based on some websites salary figures. Raanan opposed his view saying the Giants could easily manipulate the cap because they hadnt previously and carried no inhibiting contracts. Duggan over and over has been proven to make up stuff even admitting to guessing on a podcast. He's a relatively new beat writer trying to make his mark in the NY area. Obviously these are just my opinions of his writing...as you see, others have a different opinion

I don't follow Duggan so I wasn't aware of his past, but I am aware that Giants Wire enjoys being provocative so I worded the title in the manner I did. I purposely made it known this story was being reported.

sorry, I totally disagree. Might wanna save your money Who is your favorite Giants beat writer? They all fall under an umbrella for me. I spent some time out at sea a while back with little access to the NFL. I almost completely relied on written accounts of what was going on. Missed a ton of games during those years. When I got out and was able to geek out on the NFL basically whenever I wanted I began noticing HUGE discrepancies between what I read and saw beyond just what happened on the field. I'd watch press conference then 2 days later read an article quoting something out of context from what I read and running with a narrative that I totally didnt get from the conference. As I gained more access to source material like actually being able to watch the games, watch press conferences, see source video, reference their source material or article, etc... 2020 was new in the sense you could actually hear the questions being asked in the press conferences....damn some of those beat writers ask the dumbest questions! Anyways, as I gained more access, I saw them more as entertainers than reporters. Maybe even a source for a different perspective to look into but never to be taken at face value. So me? Like anyone, I like the guys that I agree with.

Arrogance and incompetence go hand-in-hand these days I get the feeling that these kids agents tell them they walk on water and they are young enough to believe it Its not the agent, its the kid. The have to decide if they want to be a professional or not, to be an upstanding citizen or not, to be a law abiding citizen or not. Their behavior has nothing to do with the agent. They are trying to make money with what they have and spin it to the kid and the teams.
I was referring to Gettleman and his uncanny ability to pick players who not only don't pan out but lean to the criminal side. He is a major incompetent and one of the main reasons we have sucked for the last few years
