Overcome by the emotional pressure of being the star of her team and bails on her country and her team? And the media is falling all over itself to applaud her for taking care of herself.
Welcome to the fall of the Roman Empire

Mental health is not something to downplay or look down on someone about. No fan can relate the kind of pressure that these athletes go through or how it can affect someone. I disagree with the premise of ripping Biles or any athlete because of mental health issues, regardless of why or when they happen. I'm not going to applaud what Biles did, but I am going to give her sympathy instead of scrutiny.

She performed poorly and quit like a little baby. You don’t get much weaker than that. To blame it on mental health issues is a disgrace.

LoL..It's a sport guys. Let the kid breathe she has accomplished more than we ever collectively will. My God getting on a young woman because she needs wants a break. She has won so much she is probably tired of winning and people still think she owes them.

I don’t know what the cause was, but watching it with my wife I heard her say “I can’t trust myself”. What she does is very dangerous and if you don’t have confidence that is where you get hurt. I would nether celebrate what happened or condemn her…my view.

Also first time at a competition without her family so probably is missing the emotional support she is used to.

Imagine if we go to the SB and DJ bails out because of the emotional distress. I’m sure everyone will be just as forgiving. The weakening of America continues

I would nether celebrate what happened or condemn her…my view. It is kind of how I feel about. I am not going to applaud her action of leaving the team, but I'm going to fully give her the benefit of the doubt, mainly because I can't relate. The only other people that can relate are other world class athletes. I would like to know what they're saying about it.

If Jones did what you said, I would be disappointed but I wouldn't rip him for it. I'm not a pro athlete that can relate.

I pretty sure they have her back. After all she went through over the years, all the accomplishments, medals, being adopted, and including being molested by a useless excuse for a human. These girls are pretty strong mentally. They still won silver man, be proud and don't let little things out of your control ruin your day.

And then showed up at the press conference after a successful mission and acted like your team’s spokesman? Russia is laughing at us … again

Wonder if she’ll feel too much pressure to collect her endorsement money?

Nothing these athletes face can compare to the pressure everyday people often face just to stay alive.

Yeah, Dude...I'm a Marine. What does that have to do with being compassionate? Can't compare life or death to a sports contest. You bail out on a mission, chances are, brothers or sisters die. You're probably not going to get invited to speak at many parties after that.
On the other hand, Simone has been a solid team member, leader and spokesperson. For what-ever reason, she lost it. She's human. She's just trying to get to the other side of what went wrong... In the mean-time she shows support for her team and keeps positive with the media.
This sports contest isn't over quite yet.

Pressure obviously comes in different forms. Of course this isn't life or death. Being a pro athlete doesn't make you immune to it. Other athletes from several platforms have her back. More importantly, her teammates have her back.

Look....she can do whatever she wants, I just don't want to hear about unbearable pressure from rich athletes.

I had a feeling something crazy was going to happen with her after seeing her in U.S. qualifiers.
The pressure is something an athlete has to overcome in order to win. She overcame that in the past, but not this time. There's nothing to applaud about the situation, in my opinion.
